We can do it mrs baker. Like you say it will be hard but we just have to think how much happier we will be once the pounds start falling off. If im at home & tempted to eat something naughty I will just come on here to take my mind of it & see how that works cos usually once I get on here im on for hours.

Funnily enough i was just thinking that myself, the only time i don't think about food is when im on here  i guess im going to have to spend more hours than usual online :P

What was with the crisps you were giving to me New Years eve thats not a diet tut tut Lesley. :P

 I don't start until monday, its always the first monday in January :P

Good luck to you all with your diets. I don't put weight on BUT have a restricted diet so I'm not quite the person you hate  You could do what I do and avoid all gluten and dairy foods. I really think it keeps people thin, so there are benefits to being allergic to foods

My 5-year old son has got many food allergies too (not gluten and milk but nuts, egg, kiwi fruit, sesame seed and most pulses). Were you allergic as a child too or did you develop them later in life? I hope you don't mind me asking, I just wonder whether there is any hope my son will grow out of them as he grows up or not.

When we found out he was allergic I took it very badly but I now realize it's something I can keep under control (or at least try my best to do so - am never completely relaxed when we eat out).

Hi Cicerid

I had an allergy to egg, penicillin and aspirin as a child. I grew out of the egg and aspirin ones BUT my dad died when I was a teenager and suddenly I developed lots of other allergies. I'm sure there is a connection between the terrible shock and the sudden deterioration in my health. Later in life my allergies have also developed after emotional shocks and problems.

Sorry, got to go, daughter calling!

Thanks. I think there is a very strong link between emotional events and physical health- its a pity its taken so long for doctors etc. to realise this.

I think with any thing they dont know about there only too willing to send you to see a specialist and let them try to find the answer but it is all time consuming and while they look in there books we have to suffer wheather it be alligies panick atttacks phobias all they say go home and take it easy I would like a doctor to go through some things I,ve gone through then you get pull your self together, and its not quite that easy.

I have decided after all these years that if people have good health, they can get on with studying for a career and become doctors etc. and those of us who don't have good health can't. So therefore the doctors etc. look down on those of us who haven't got brilliant careers and don't see why we haven't bothered, or think of us as lazy or something.

Anyway... next term I'm doing an NVQ level 2 in learning support. Hardly exciting, but it is a start
