Opening Credits / Opening Theme Discussion

Exactly, they should be giving us more credits not taking them away!

The only good thing in the UK is that we get a 30 second closing credits and theme.

Is it just me or do the producers care more about what they think than the fans? I mean home and away is missing a vital part without the theme tune. It hypes you for the episode and it really is the heart of it. So if this is for more screen time then they could lose viewers because of this disasterous move.

I guess it depends what opening you're not missing. If I knew 2010 would have had the same opening as 2009 then I'd gladly go the year without it. But to remove the titles and theme completely, forever, is just silly. They've been there from episode 1 and the song is known worldwide. I assume this is because of how badly the titles have been recieved from 2007 onwards...but there's a simple answer, stop settling for cheap looking tack!!

I agree with you on that. I think i'ts time the producers listened to what we want.

To me it's nice for a show to have credits, preferably with the cast in them, but it doesn't really bother me too much. It doesn't spoil my enjoyment of the show at all as it has no bearing on storylines so I don't see what all the fuss is about.

Perhaps they figured that everyone complained so much about the 2009 credits that they weren't worth the bother. They listened to everyone in 2008 and brought them back and then what happened in 2009? Everyone complained. People need to understand that the media has changed and credits that are a minute long just aren't viable on TV anymore - this isn't a specific thing about Home and Away, it's a TV wide thing, so I don't know why Home and Away specifically is getting so much flak.

But at the end of the day, I wouldn't blame Channel 7 for taking them away completely given the amount of complaining they've had to endure.

Your petitions will not work. Nor will "phoning Channel 7". They're gone, and if they do come back, they'll still only be 15 seconds.

But because credits are 15-20 seconds long, doesn't mean they have to be rubbish.

Neighbours Credits, 1994. Gives you a quick overview of who everyone as, a few locations appear and in my eyes, are pretty decent. There's some mock-ups that tend to be generally well received as well. They might not credit the actual stars, and we've got 15-20 years better equipment meaning people in their bedroom can make visually appealing credits. The 2009 credits look like my TV's went funny and the picture pixelated.

Taking one of Andrew's attempts from last year. Lasts 20 seconds and IMO are 50 times better than what Seven went for.

Exactly. There's no need to spend thousands of dollars on the computer generated or complicated looking credits they have used for there last few attempts, just go back to what worked well, in-house produced credits shot with there own cameras and film affects over the top. And that is all most of the fans have been asking for all these years.
