this isn't a specific thing about Home and Away, it's a TV wide thing, so I don't know why Home and Away specifically is getting so much flak.

Ah yes but not all TV shows opening titles are as iconic as Home & Away's !

Home & Away's opening have always been a big part of the show and almost everyone worldwide knows the famous theme tune!!

I think watching the titles and singing along to the theme tune have always been a part of the viewing experience, and now they may just be cutting the music out altogether , never to be heard again , I think its just horrible really. I know how you mean though Foxy about every other shows that have had their titles slashed or even cut altogether that don't get as much stick from viewers , and some shows can be as iconic but they won't ever be as iconic as H&A!

Opening titles are always nice to watch and sing along to but TV has changed and I have seen over the last few years how the number of shows with opening titles have gradually decreased. In the US they have cut the titles completely from Greys Anatomy & Desperate Housewives and whichever others I don't watch . But now any of the newer shows have been started out with no titles ie Brothers & Sisters (which is so much easier because there was none to begin with and so doesn't bother us because we don't know what were missing) and others have really short openings ie 90210.

Opening titles are on their way out and like Foxy said petitions and phone calls aren't going to make a difference, we can't stop it!! H&A is only another in a long line of shows with cut titles.

If you take a look at any of Andrew's mock credits from the last couple of months then you'll notice not only are they very good... but totally made up from show footage!

They wonder why people complained? It's because the credits are CRAP! Whoever thought having castless credits was a good idea really needs their head checked.

The "no-credits" thing all started with the air disaster in 2006 during the fag-end of Dan Bennett's era when he took the show into cop-drama territory (something even Bevan Lee didn't manage to get away from during his 2008 stint) and now we're finally, at long-last, supposed to be moving away from it (be nice to see the beach a bit more for a start!) bringing back some wholesome titles would suit. If we had something like Andrew's example I could live with 15 second credits. There's still no reason why they can't be 30 seconds.

Even my sister, who hasn't watched since Noah died nearly five years ago (at UK pace, we were 7 months behind at that point!) saw a 2009 episode recently and asked me "Why is the opening so s**t, and WHY have they got rid of the 'You know we belong together' bit too!"

It's too important a part of the show. It sets the scene for the following 30 minutes on your TV. For the UK audience, it sets that "escapist" feel we love about the show. And now the show sometimes makes you want to slit your wrists, removing the credits doesn't help!

the home and away theme is iconic and think about mike perjanik whos hard work goes in the theme song he agrees with us that those credits and theme song is way to short it like eastenders not having the drum beat at opening and end of every episoad it just want work with out the music and sum decent titles we can see the cast in

I would be happy if they reverted back to the 2004-2006 style. I think it would look good with the current cast and would look alot better then the castless credits.

Yeah that was one of my favourite openings!! and the music was brilliant as well

I wouldn't mind in the slightest if they just slapped the 2006 titles into the show now! In fact I would love it, at least we could still song the theme song.

I'd prefer them not to have any credits than go back to the 2006 ones - they were awful Imo All they need to do is go back to the classic format, forget computerized butterflies and petals (2006) and green screens with the cast grinning into the camera - just have them doing in-character stuff on the beach etc 1996-1999 style were the best and most unique and would work today in my opinion.

Hey All

I've been lurking here for a while and wholeheartedly agree that the show NEEDS a proper opening sequence again. I love Andrew's creations, and now that it's been reported that Home and Away will go back to its family roots in 2010, I've mocked up an opening sequence (using the current theme) that harks back to the show's roots too... I'm sure something like this would work nicely for the show:

Are the credits scrapped now? All we have here in Ireland is the Logo and "Previously on Home & Away" and then it blacks out into the episode.
