the home and away theme is iconic and think about mike perjanik whos hard work goes in the theme song he agrees with us that those credits and theme song is way to short it like eastenders not having the drum beat at opening and end of every episoad it just want work with out the music and sum decent titles we can see the cast in

I agree, we need some decent credits back, EastEnders wouldn't be EastEnders without the famous map & theme credits and H&A isn't the same without theirs :( Having said that, EastEnders originally didn't have the drums at the start of the opening credits - they only appeared in the 1994 revamp! lol

Oh great, I hope we're not back to the random credits situation.

If anything, they need to EXTEND the credits. I'd rather have 1 minute less of Home & Away, and 1 minute more music.

It'd encourage tighter editing and writing with 60 less seconds to fill.

home and away have stopped showing the credits on a pemanant basis so there want be any credits no more nick perjanik comfirmed this

Really? That's seriously crap. It does look like Seven are going the way of their American and British counterparts and not bothering with the heritage of the soap.

But our British soaps all have opening titles..admitedly the Corrie and Emmerdale ones arent very good but theyre a good 30 seconds as are the EastEnders ones (which have just had a makeover very reminicent of its orgional titles).

Does anyone else think that the presentation of Home and Away looks a bit disjointed this year? The beginning "Previously on Home and Away" is a good idea, but I don't like the wide screen recap. And then when it goes to an ad it just goes black, same with the closing. The show just ends then we get a promo with bunched up titles. It just comes across as very rushed. I quite liked opening titles and ad breaker bumpers. It just finishes more neatly.

I know the producers try to squish as much time for storylines as possible for each episode (which is always a good thing) but I think this is gone a bit far now. I know when I'm watching the show and it finishes and goes black then the promo, I go 'oh is that it'? and just assume it's over but then the promo arrives. I wonder what it would look like with titles and then a promo at the end and then closing titles. It couldn't possibly take up that much time. It would also cut the 'filler' lines they throw into each episode to make the 22 minutes. :)

Yeah, I agree with all of that. I'm glad that break bumper/effect has gone though, it was ugly and really ruined the mood of an emotional scene when floating bricks start to cover the screen

Now that they've nearly completed the on-screen revamp with the sets and lighting etc, they should now look into a mid-year revamp of the, as you put it, presentation. I think currently, Home and Away has one of the most jarring on TV. You start with the purple/black title card in a style which isn't used at any other point in the episode (poiiiiintless) and then we go into a recap that I doubt anyone actually pays attention to. Following that it's straight into the show without any kind of introduction and distracting adverts for other shows pop up on the bottom of the screen. There's three ad breaks (all of which are followed by more pop-up ads) and the show just cuts out without any real conclusion at the end. THEN theres an advert, which if we're lucky folows a spilt second of the real closing credits and thats it. The End

Hard to describe why, but it IS messy. They should look into a way that an episode will start, break and end with visuals that identify Home and Away, the way it was done from 1988-2003. I'm not suggesting that they bring back the closing credits, just something like the producer credits from the 2000-2003 outro which provide a smooth transition into the promo.

I agree also. It's a further deterioration from how Home And Away used to be.

We don't get any opening titles, we don't get any closing titles, is there anywhere on YouTube that shows what the UK sees (opening and closing titles)??

The UK get end credits, as far as I'm aware they are like this:

The one thing I would really like to see come back is the 'freeze frame' ending - just that extra 3/4 seconds to allow the audience to contemplate what has just happened and round the episode off. They always added something special to the episodes too Imo

Yeah the UK does get end credits which are totally different to how they are elsewhere (using the 'backward' visuals of the opeing titles and the slightly longer vocals). We also only have one ad break, in the middle, which is now just the channel five logo bumper rather than a home and away one (a few years ago it used to be five's own version of a title board and would say 'home and away' with a nice shot of the beach behind it). So in the Uk we start as it does in Australia, have the one break in the middle, then the end of the episode fades into black then into our closing credits (which usually get shrunk/talked over by five announcers).

I too liked the old freeze frame ending - I always likened it to our soap EastEnders famous ending which is the dramatic drumbeats, which go over the last few seconds of the last scene, preceding the end title credits, giving the viewer the signal it's the end and to take things in. Interestingly the drums added onto the start of the opening titles from 1994 onwards (from its beginning in 1985 - 1993 they were not on the start of the opening credits)- veiwers were never sure why they added them to it lol

Maybe someone should make a "bring back the freeze frame to Home and Away" facebook group!

To be honest, I am much preferring the current "cut to black" much more than I ever liked the "fade to black".

New Zealand still has the closing titles as well. No opening though but I guess this is just standard. We are not too far behind either from what I gather.
