It's just devastating just watching it on the telly, but I can't begin to imagine how hard it is for the people of Kinglake etc. Lol at Hamish and Andy!
maccaz Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 On the cricket, I saw Bill Lawry (a commentator) talking about how he feared for his wives safety while he was in Sydney to call the cricket. It just shocked me to hear Mr. "Got 'im! Yess!" sound so shaken - but then anyone would.
chelsjo Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 They have just announced (Hamish and Andy) they have raised $2,008,665 in just over 2 hours!!
Traceve Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 Grand total so far raised (according to the 5:30 news) $57 million!! !
Lise Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 The pictures on the news are just terrifying to watch. I can't imagine what it's like to be caught in the middle of it all. It looks like hell on earth. I hope they find the person or people that caused all of this and lock them up and throw away the key. I can't even fathom why you would even think about doing such a thing. They have in all theory commited mass murder. It's good to see the Australian cricketer's out in the crowd in the middle of a game to collect money.
Adelle_fan1000 Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 Grand total so far raised (according to the 5:30 news) $57 million!! ! I actually heard $25million not 57.. but im sure it will get past that! EDIT: Just read on News.com.au... the death toll is now 181
bttb-rox! Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected. This is absolutely dreadful and extremely sad. It's hard to take in when you see images on the TV or hear people talking on the radio. It almost doesn't seem real, because it's so horrific. But it's heartwarming to know that so many good people from around the world are giving all they can, whether it be though time, money or in other ways. It makes you realize what's important.
Traceve Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 About half hour after I posted that the 6:00 news said it was $25 million instead of 57. I wonder what source the 5:30 news has lol Police have confirmed that they believe they know the identity of the man who allegedly contributed to the Churchill-Jeeralang blaze in Gippsland. Twenty-one people have died in the region. Sam Gents partner and 3 children are now confirmed dead. She was the bushfires first NZ victim. Bugger, I was really hoping they'd find her and the kids alive
