emmasi Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 I was thinking of donating to WIRES, but their website says that they're a NSW organisation only, so I'm not sure if that will help with the fires. Although after all the bush that's been burned around here, that might not be such a bad idea anyway. Does anyone know if there's a Victorian wildlife rescue organisation that's big enough for donations to reach a lot of injured and displaced animals?
Traceve Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 I found this for you and hopefully that contains all the info you need.
jenlee Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 I got sent the video of the koala picture on the previous page ... so sweet. Click here
emmasi Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 I found this for you and hopefully that contains all the info you need. Ah cool! Thanks! I'm in such a donating mood right now. I'm gonna make an appointment for a blood donation tomorrow. Never done it before but I like the sound of refreshments!
Lise Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 I can't watch that video but the photo is just so cute. What a good Koala! I wonder if there's a way I can give some money from over here in NZ. It wouldn't be much at all but I'm sure that they would appreciate it.
Mez83 Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 ^^ There's a few organisations taking donations. K-Mart is the only one I can think of at the moment......but I've seen heaps.
Lise Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 Thank you, Mez. I will have to go to K-Mart tomorrow when I go out.
jenlee Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 We don't have K-Mart in Nelson, I'll have to find somewhere else
zzazzb Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 was smoky as anything today, the easterly winds blew all the Kinglake smoke over my home and school. today i was helping sort through donations at school, and from a school of 600 odd students we had filled the assistent principals office floor, with piles up the walls, aswell as half the principals office and the office corner, seriously, there were bags everywhere filled with donations of toiletries and clothes and things. It was amazing seeing as people wont bring donations for anything else at our school, even for things that will benefit them has anyone else heard of a death toll today? i havn't heard if it's rising or not.
Traceve Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 The death toll is currently 181 and has been that since late Tuesday night. There are still so many people missing so it'll rise as they find bodies. Another fire today was put down as arson, it was the Mansfield one I believe.
