Adia Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 It's so horrible, especially for the people who have lost their homes and family and friends. I can't bear to watch it on the news. It's amazing how fast these fires spread and how long they take to put out. I was watching the cricket and they are doing some fundraising at the Adelaide Oval when the kiwi's play the aussies next. I hope everyone in these areas gets to safety.
SAB Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 96 peoples now confirmed dead. Some of these fires were lit by arsonists, if they are caught, they will now face murder charges.
Ryan Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 It's ironic how half the membership are hot or on fire and the other half are frozen solid.
alexx Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 108 Confirmed Killed by Bush fires. Ryan its ironic that one part of Australia are dealing with massive floods, and the South desperate for rain, dealing with bush fires.
rachel&kim Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 I just watched the news, it's truly awful. My thoughts are with everyone affected by the bushfires.
Traceve Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 I'm really worried about a friend in Bendigo as I know they were affected, some died and a bunch of homes are gone. I don't know if he's ok or not though, he was on the internet yesterday but that was a whole 24 hrs ago, anything could have happened! I'm watching Sunrise at the moment and we're still waiting for that bus to come down from the hills. God, it makes me sick that some of those fires were deliberately lit
xknomex Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 just to say my thoughts and prayers are with all who are affected!
Traceve Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 The death toll just rose to 111. The bus never came from the hills.... They said it would come 2 hours ago on Sunrise and it never came, so there was no bus full of survivors?

Nathan. Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 This is heartbreaking, and all I could think about when watching it on the television this morning were the members on here who are from Australia. Does anyone know how Cranbourne is? A friend of mine, and a fellow member on this board, lives there and I haven't spoken to him in a while.
