Hey guys! Been a while again, I know, sorry  It's just no matter how many times I try to fix a chapter so it's actually readable, it just... does not work!

Thanks for all your comments again!

Enjoy... (If you can :P)

Chapter 22

He found her dazed. Simply standing straight out the front of the house, staring intently at the place she used to call her home. She had this confused look on her face that Jack couldn't depicter whether she was angry or upset.

Stepping forward he placed his hand gently on her shoulder, awakening her back from wherever her thoughts had taken her.

“You okay?”, he asked quietly as she looked at him, her face holding the same expression as before.

She bit her lip nervously, and it was only until Jack saw her eyes glisten with tears that he realized she was trying to hold in her emotions.

“I wonder…”, she looked down momentarily, as if afraid of what she was saying. “Do you think he ever thinks about me?”, she murmured, wiping away a small tear that has managed to fall free.

Without an hesitation, he took her in his arms, holding her as safely as he possibly could. He placed a small kiss on the top of her head as he heard her sniffle.

“I’m not sure”, Jack responded in the only answer he thought was appropriate.

“Maybe he’s just forgotten about me… like my mum”, she looked up at him momentarily before pressing her head down against his chest as she began to cry.

“I don’t think anyone could ever forget about you”, he whispered down to her as she pulled back. Gently, he wiped away some stray tears and she looked at him sadly, he bright blue eyes having turned a dimmer shade.

“Thank you”, she whispered back.

“What for?”, a small smile appeared at the corner of his lips.

“I just…”, she stopped and sighed. She could always count on him, through anything she knew he would be the one person still standing by her. He had done more for her than any other person… and he meant more to her than anyone else in the world. “I love you so much”

-------------------

The warm sheets clung to her skin as she stirred slightly in a midst of waking. An instant pain shot to her head and she quickly closed her eyes again, relaxing herself into the softness of the bed, oblivious to the person who lay closely next to her as she fell back asleep.

“Oi! Robbie! Quick, look!”, a voice woke Jack from his sleep a soon 10 minutes later.

Robbie hurried to where he heard Tasha’s voice projecting. “What… oh”, he smiled, raising his eyebrows slightly at the same time. “Well isn’t this cosy”, he raised his voice in an effort to wake them from their sleep.

Jack lifted his head slightly. “Huh…”, he paused mid sentence as he felt her warm body against his, her arm wound around his back snugly. “Martha!”, he pushed himself up further, letting her arm fall loosely off his back.

She groaned slightly, pulling a nearby pillow close to her chest as a replacement of where Jack had been. “Is sleeping. Shh, go away”, she muttered groggily, not once opening her eyes.

Jack looked down at her disapprovingly. He had moved during the night to the end of the bed in an effort to stop each and every attempt she had made to wrap herself around him.

Obviously he was an idiot for thinking that would stop her. “You are killing me”, he told her, despite her sleeping state, before retreating out into the kitchen in search for some much-needed coffee.

“And I thought we had a good night…”, Tasha immediately remarked as they stepped out of Martha’s earshot.

He rolled his eyes, despite having his back to them. “So how are the newlyweds?”, he asked, ignoring her previous statement.

Robbie looked down at Tasha lovingly and wrapped an arm around her waist. “Fantastic”, he smiled, leaning his forehead gently against hers.

“Amazing”, Tasha added, leaning up on to press her lips against his.

“I’m really happy for you guys… and again, I’m sorry about everything that happened. I really couldn’t leave her alone when she was vomiting all over herself”, Jack shook his head in mere revulsion as they too pulled disgusted faces at simply the thought of it.

“Eugh, really?”

Jack smirked. “Let’s just say, you’re welcome”, he huffed, patting the both of them on the shoulder. “My wedding gift to you guys”

Tasha and Robbie both grinned as he brought up the image of their wedding again. Robbie kissed her cheek lightly before moving to her lips, their kiss more passionate this time.

“Alright guys if you are planning on just doing that all day than I think I’ll have a shower”, Jack raised his eyebrows as he finished off the last of his coffee.

Tasha reluctantly pulled away, sticking her tongue out nastily at Jack. “Fine. I’ll get Martha up”

“I wouldn’t unless you wanna be thrown up on”

Jack’s house…

Jack rummaged through the draws on the side table in search of his keys. It had become a daily routine for him now because he so regularly lost them.

He heard the creek of the door open as he glanced up.

A satisfied smile formed on his lips instantly as he saw her enter dreadfully. “Hi”, she groaned, pushing the door shut behind her and shuffling sourly over to the couch and throwing herself onto it.

“Well don’t you look a picture”, he peered over the back of the couch, using his hand to ruffle up her hair, much to her displeasure.

She groaned inwardly at his cheery tone, knowing he was putting it on deliberately to send her off. “I don’t even remember drinking”, she sat up slowly so she could see him.

“Do you ever remember?”, he scoffed, a hint of laughter in his voice as he carried on searching for his keys.

“Eughh”, she banged her head lightly against the couch back. He saw her fiddle within the cushions of the couch for a moment before she glanced back up at him, throwing keys his way.

“Cheers”, he thanked her, his face confused as to how she even knew what he was looking for. “I managed to keep you away from all the alcohol for a couple of hours though”, he said proudly as he moved himself to the small couch beside her.

Martha nodded, showing she was clearly impressed. “You did? However did you occupy me?”, she laughed jokingly.

Jack wriggled his eyebrows suggestively before winking at her.

“No”, her face dropped.

He let out a small laugh. “Oh believe me, you wanted to”, he shook his head teasingly as he twirled his keys around his finger.

“Just because I can’t remember what happened doesn’t mean I’m going to believe your bullsh*t”, she scowled. He was most likely telling the truth and she knew that, but admitting it would only make it seem like she did it on purpose.

“I’m not lying. I think you even said at one point that… I quote… we could go behind the sand dunes and no one would notice”, he tilted his head to the side with a satisfied smile spread across his face. The best part was, she had said that, he wasn’t making it up.

“I didn’t!”, Martha’s mouth fell agape and she cringed at herself. “Oh my god, I’m so embarrassed”, she could feel the heat rushing up to her cheeks. She popped her head down in an effort to hide it from Jack.

She heard him laugh as he got up and walked over towards her. “Why? It’s just me. I’ve heard worse”, he leant in closer so he could whisper in her ear. “Much, much worse”

She shivered as his warm breath tickled her skin. “Last night I was… you know I didn’t mean… you don’t think that… anything, do you?”, she began rambling nervously, not even able to form a proper sentence.

Jack shook his head, but luckily for her, he knew exactly what she was saying. “Well… people do say that alcohol speaks the truth, but… with you I’ll never know”, he patted her shoulder lightly.

“What?”, she glanced up at him, still rubbing her temple softly with her fingers in an effort to decrease the pain. “Whatever, as long as you don’t think anything of it”

“You practically drank your own body weight in vodka and whatever else you could find… and then… threw like twice that amount back up”, he pulled a disgusted face as he thought back. “I didn’t take much on board”, he assured her.

She felt slightly guilty at the pressure she must have put on him last night. “Alright good”, she smiled in genuine appreciation.

“Okay” , he nodded. The atmosphere turning slightly awkward as neither one could think any conversation to continue with. “Well… I have to go down to the station. I’m finally going back to work tomorrow so I’m going to check that everything’s all good”, he added nervously, not wanting to seem as though he was trying to get rid of her.

She stood up as she realised what he meant. “Yeah. I just came to… clear things up”, she told him, lingering at the door momentarily. A hug seeming a tad inappropriate but a wave would just come across as pathetic. “I’ll see you later”, she smiled weakly before hurrying out quickly.

Jack let out a long sigh as she left. Never in his life had he ever felt uncomfortable around Martha… this friends thing was going to be a lot harder than he had thought.

--------------------------

3 hours later…

After a few hours of lounging around and finding pointless ways to kill time, Martha had decided to head down to the beach. With Tasha and Robbie spending the next couple of days, completely absorbed in each other, there seemed to be a lot more hours in the day.

It made her realise how few people she really did know now. She had considered going home early, but she had promised Tash that she would hang around for a bit before she rushed back home. She obviously knew that once she went home, there would be nothing forcing her to come back and visit.

Leaning against the wooden beach fence, she gazed out into the ocean, trying desperately to remember anything she could from the night before.

Her vision was broken and much to her surprise, Jack walked past, but he was laughing. Her eyes darted behind him where she saw the cause of that…

A girl, probably around there age followed him closely, laughing uncontrollably to almost anything he said. Her brown hair was tied up into a loose bun and her dress flowed freely with the ocean wind.

She didn’t want to watch, afraid that this girl wasn’t just some friend that had run into Jack on the beach like she was hoping.

The moment she decided to look up, was the moment it happened. With a broad smile on his face, he leant in closer. She saw the girls arms wrap around his waste securely.

She wanted to claw her eyes out. The way she was touching him and holding him, like she knew him better than anyone else in the world. Like he couldn’t have been more happier to have her, and no one else’s, arms wrapped around him tightly.

Her breath caught in her throat as his lips collided with hers and they began to kiss. Looking as though they were in no hurry to stop anytime soon.

Turning away quickly she slid down the post of the fence, sitting herself carelessly at the bottom. She felt like someone had stabbed her, right in the heart and then pulled it in and out again a couple more times just for fun. She squeezed her eyes tightly shut and buried her head in her hands as she tried to focus her mind on something other than Jack… Jack with his tongue down another girls throat.

She didn’t understand what was happening, had he being seeing this girl all this time without telling anyone? Because she didn’t look like a stranger he had just picked up.

She had no idea why but she felt betrayed… and she knew that was wrong of her, she had no say in what he did or who he saw.

She could feel tears coming, so she tried even harder to hold them back, but could feel a few push there way through and fall slowly down her face.

“Martha?”, a familiar voice forced her to raise her head. “Hey, are you alright?”, he asked, his face etched with worry and concern. She would have almost fallen for it if it hadn’t been for that girl still hanging from his arm.

With warm tears visibly forming, she forced herself to speak. “I’m fine just…”, she chocked, finding no way to explain herself without looking like a complete hypocrite. “Don’t worry about me I’m fine”, she brushed them off quickly as she stood and began to hurry off.

“Marth-”, he tried again but she interrupted him.

“No seriously, just… it’s fine”, she stopped for a moment before rushing off even quicker than before.
