She looked around the dark room. She couldn't see anything, it was as dark and as empty as the night sky. She curled up into a ball, pulling her knees close up to her chest. "Mummy?" she called out into the darkness. "Daddy?" Tears fell silently from her face, as she waited for someone to answer. She closed her eyes tight and buried her face in her lap when none came. "Mummy...Daddy!" she cried out. "I'm scared!" She burst into tears as the image of her parents rose to the surface of her mind. They were smiling, looking as happy as ever. She shivered as a cold gust of wind blew in from the broken glass window. She wrapped her arms tightly around her jacket, pulling her sleeves over her ice cold fingers. She gasped as a thought suddenly came to her. She put her hands up over her eyes, hiding them from the darkness. She let her mind fill itself with the image of her parents, smiling down at her.
