Woo hoo. Bonus. Not one but two updates in a day.

Superb again. This sums up my thoughts on the cuteness of this fic. And this sums up my thoughts on the idiots who made Charlie cry.

I entered the station a few minutes later. “So anything urgent?” I asked my colleagues.

“No nothing Senior”

“Charlie, wait. I want to talk to you” McGrath said.

We walked into my office all the while I was thinking this doesn’t sound too good.

“So, what’s up?” I asked sitting down at my desk.

He closed the door and sat down opposite me. “I just wanted to let you know you’ve got our full support” he announced.

“What?” I asked surprised.

“I talked to everyone while you were out at lunch. We all felt guilty for not saying anything when you told us. Charlie your personal life is yours to live and if this is how you feel then you shouldn’t worry about what others think. I think it was really brave of you to tell us”

“So then Joey can come into work and there will be no problems?” I asked.

“Of course” he replied. “I’m sorry you felt you had to keep her away because you don’t have to”

“Thanks that means a lot” I replied.

“We’re all going to Noah’s after work. How bout you invite Joey?”

“Sure. Sounds great” I smiled.

He left my office so I rang home. “Hey Leah, is Jo around?” I asked.

“Yeah hang on” Leah replied. I could hear her give the phone to Joey.

“Hello?” Joey answered.

“Hey you” I replied.

“Charlie” I could tell she was grinning like an idiot.

“So I’ve got some good news”

“Oh yeah, and what’s that?” she asked.

“Well, McGrath came into my office just now and told me that the whole team supports us and that they felt guilty for not saying something earlier”

“Oh that’s fabulous” Joey said cheerfully.

“And I’m inviting you to come have drinks after work at Noah’s bar. Everyone from work is coming”

“Sure. That sounds great” she accepted.

“So, I’ll see you around 8 at Noah’s” I replied.

“See you then” Joey said.

Hours later, I stepped out of my office at about 7.45pm.

“Hey Charlie you ready to go?” Georgie asked.

“Yes” I replied. I turned off the lights and closed my door.

We all started to walk to the surf club. On the way we past Aden.

“Hey Charlie” he greeted me.

“Hi Aden, how are you?” I asked.

“I’m fine. I was with Joey earlier this afternoon. We just watched a movie. She talks about you a lot. It’s almost sickening” he replied.

I smiled. “Like you talking about Belle a lot is not sickening?” I kidded.

“Okay, you win” he laughed. “Anyway, I’m meeting Belle now so I’ll see you later”

”Have fun. Bye” I replied.

We walked the rest of the way to Noah’s and ordered drinks from Alf.

“Should I be worried? The whole police station in my bar” Alf said.

“No Mr Stewart” Georgie replied. “We’re just having a drink after work”

I helped Alf get the drinks.

“So, been busy today Alf?” I asked.

“No more then usual love” he replied. “Have a good night”

“Thanks” I said. I handed some of the drinks out and we all sat down on the couch.

“So, is Joey coming?” McGrath asked.

“Yeah, she’ll be here soon” I replied.

“Speak of the devil” Georgie said.

“I’m a devil now?” Joey asked.

I handed her a drink and she sat down next to me.

Georgie & I laughed. “No McGrath just asked if you were coming and as soon as Charlie answered you walked in the door” Georgie explained.

“You could never be the devil” I added.

“Glad to hear it” Joey said.

”So, what movie did you watch with Aden?” I asked.

“How did you know I was with Aden?” Joey asked surprised.

“We ran into him as we were walking here” I replied.

“Oh right” she said. “Anyway, we were watching Music & Lyrics. I hadn’t seen it and neither had Aden but Belle is always going on about it so we just watched it”

“I love that movie” Georgie said.

”Me too” I agreed.

“Drew Barrymore is hot” Joey said.

“Oh I think Hugh Grant is hot” said Georgie.

They both looked at me. I shrugged. “Their both hot” I replied.

Joey rested her head on my shoulder.

“So Joey, you like boats” McGrath said.

“I love boats” Joey corrected.

“So if you had to choose between boats and Charlie what would you choose?” Georgie asked.

“Charlie of course” Joey responded immediately.

“Good answer babe” I said giving her a tender kiss.

She smiled. “As if I would choose boats over you darling”

We had finished our drinks.

“Want to go to dinner?” Joey asked.

“Yeah but I need to go home first and change”

”And you need help with that right?” Joey asked suggestively.

“Oh get a room you two” McGrath said.

I laughed. “Ok, if you say so”

We said goodbye to my colleagues and walked home holding hands all the way.

The next morning I stepped out of the bathroom and walked into the kitchen. I saw Leah making pancakes for breakfast.

“Mmmm yum. Pancakes!” I exclaimed.

Leah laughed. “Morning Charlie” she said.

“Good morning” I replied. I sat down at the table.

“Hello, Hello” Ruby walked in.

“Morning Ruby” Leah said.

“Mmmm yum. Pancakes!” Ruby replied.

“That’s what your sister just said” Leah said.

“Where’s Joey, Charles?” Ruby asked.

“Still sleeping” I answered.

“Well she better get out here fast or else these pancakes are going to be gone” Ruby said.

“Oh no, not before I get some” I replied.

”Okay you two there’s enough for everyone” Leah chuckled.

“Morning everyone” Joey greeted us all.

“Morning sleepyhead” I said.

Joey sat down next to me and I gave her a kiss. I looked at her lovingly.

“Leah made pancakes” Ruby announced to Joey unnecessarily.

“They smell yummy” she replied.

“Knock, knock” A voice at the door said.

Leah turned around and smiled brightly. “Hi Roman” she greeted her boyfriend.

“Hello Leah, ladies” Roman said. Roman gave Leah a kiss.

“Leah made us pancakes” Ruby announced again.

“Uh oh. I know how Charlie loves her pancakes. I’m guessing you’re the same too Ruby” he said.

“Yes” she answered nodding her head.

Leah put the plate of pancakes on the table. I smiled. I looked over at Ruby. She was smiling also. I reached for the plate before her.

“I got the first one. Yay” I shouted.

“Nooooooooooooooo. You beat me again. So not fair” Ruby exclaimed defeated.

“Admit it sis. I will always be the winner at getting the first pancake onto my plate”

“Never going to admit that in a million years” Ruby said.

Ruby grabbed hers and we both put on the maple syrup and strawberry’s on our pancakes.

Ruby grinned at me. “Ready?” she asked.

“Ready” I confirmed.

“On your marks, get set, go” she said.

We each started to eat out pancake really fast trying to be the first one to finish. I could feel Leah, Roman and Joey’s eyes on us but there was no time to explain why we did always did this. I’m not even sure why we always did this, it just started one day when we were young and we haven’t stopped since. It has been pretty even over the years as to who eats the pancake first.

“I won” Ruby yelled opening her empty mouth and holding out her empty plate.

“Well done” I said finishing off mine a moment later.

“You guys are so weird” Joey said.

Ruby and I looked gave Joey a look.

There was another knock at the door.

“Ready Rubes?” Xavier said.

Ruby nodded. “See you later everyone” she waved goodbye and was off to school.

I grinned. “I can’t believe you called me weird” I said to Joey. “I’m so not weird”

“With your pancakes, your weird” she insisted.

“Okay then, if you insist” I replied.
