He did indeed - I posted this at the time when it cropped up:

OK I've been talking with Bevan and we can now finally put to rest the complaints about Maureen.

The episode in its original form, as I suspected, DID have a scene where they referred to Maureen, however unfortunately it had to be cut due to time - 3 scenes in total were cut from the episode.

  Quote
The Maureen scene was a second one in the Surf Club before Colleen went home. She was a bit tipsy and suddenly she shrieked "Oh My Lord. My Maureen! Tell me you didn't... you know... Alf Stewart!" Morag grimaces with distaste, Alf goes white and blusters "Gawd woman, don't even go there." And hurries the conversation along.

And we left it at that. Referred to for the adults with a grasp of continuity, but the subject of incest avoided for the kiddies.

I really regretted losing it for the gag (as it was very funny) and continuity reasons, but the rest of the scene really slowed the episode down. Ah well. Can't have everything.

And for the people that noticed the continuity error with Colleen stating that she now had 2 sisters, yes that was indeed a mistake on the writers part.

It was an inexperienced script editor who did some last minute amendments in a scene and put that line of dialogue in. The only sisters they know of were Morag and Celia, so they wrote the line that way.

And Cornie and Ray didn't pick it up or if they did, maybe thought we were just trying to brush the rarely seen or mentioned Barbara and the never seen and never mentioned Debra under the carpet.

So on that one, we have to hang our heads in shame and say "Thank God there are some fans out there who are loyal enough to know when we're wrong. They're our lifeblood and we hate letting them down by getting it wrong. Sorry."
