grumble bum Posted October 3, 2009 Report Posted October 3, 2009 Leah did not deserve to be spoken to like that from Rachel. Leah left her home in the middle of the night to go to an all night chemist to get baby panadol for Harry and all Rachel could do was yell at her and be ungrateful that her friend came in the middle of the night to help her. Rachel doesn't deserve a friend like Leah. Quote
-Karen- Posted October 3, 2009 Report Posted October 3, 2009 Even though, in an ideal world, Rachel shouldn't have taken her stress out on Leah, I think even Leah would forgive Rachel for speaking to her like that given that it looks like Rachel has post natal depression. She forgave Rachel for slapping her so this is nothing in comparison! Rachel has been a great friend to Leah, and vice versa, and I doubt that will change now. It's probably the best friendship on the show by a long way. Quote
charmed60 Posted October 3, 2009 Report Posted October 3, 2009 I agree ^ I can't actually remember a friendship which has been so consistent on the show for a long time if ever. I love how they ocassionally put in little memories from their past, it makes the fact that they're meant to be childhood friends so much more believable. I was really pleased that Leah was involved in the storyline and thought it was nice that she was the one who recognised Rachel's mental illness. Apart from a few coffee dates at the diner, we haven't really seen much of Leah trying to help her out but then again Rachel hasn't been letting on to anyone apart from Tony about her struggles so I guess Leah thought she was coping ok. I highly doubt Leah's going to hold Rachel's "we don't need your help" rant against her after seeing the way she was blaming herself for Harry's near death and knowing she has depression. Quote
richleamington Posted October 3, 2009 Report Posted October 3, 2009 As a character Rachel has always been a bit neurotic and touchy. She has always overreacted to even small things. That's just the way she is and I don't think she will change. Just like some people in real life. Quote
KirstyEkua Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 Friends argue and say things they don't mean to each other somtimes. That's life. Rachel is suffering just now and Leah is doing what any best friend would d. I think their friendship is by far the best one on the show and it's totally realistic. They have their little fights and disagreements but at the end of the day they're there for each other and know exactly what to do to help. I hope it continues and i hope Leah will be involved in helping Rachel get better. Sometimes all you need is your best friend to tell you how amazing and wonderful you are and it really can lift you Quote
KirstyEkua Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 I enjoyed the Rachel and Leah interaction last week. It's lovely to see Leah doing something other than work in the diner! Although i think the writers could devote a lot of more time to this friendship, i do love that in times of crisis they're always there for each other. It was nice to see them just having lunch and talking and doing normal every day stuff. They bounce well off each other and it always looks genuine. Quote

I totally agree I'd been missing them spending more time than just a quick gossip in the diner so was really pleased with the Rachel/Leah interaction before and after Rachel went away to Karitane. It was very sweet how Leah offered to be with Rachel when she spoke to Tony about wanting to go back to work and just be there for moral support and when she kissed Harry. It still upsets me that Leah wasn't made Harry's godmother. I think it's good for Rachel to have Leah around, not just as her best friend but also as an experienced Mum, it's good that she's got someone to talk to and learn off of. Their friendship does seem so genuine, I would really like them to do a storyline where we learn more about their past and what they were like back in the day, a high school reunion maybe Quote
KirstyEkua Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 I loved we finally had some proper interaction between them today. It's so sad for Leah but Rachel is right, she does need help. The longer she stays inside the worse it's going to get. It was nice she was finally able to open up to someone though and i guess that's a step in the right direction. I guess Rach can't help but suggest Leah gets help - i think in this situation she desperately needs it. I like how Rachel mentioned her when she was on the farm with Martha the other day, it's good they don't forget they're best friends (like they seem to with everyone else). lol: But i always love this friendship and through every drama they've personally faced they've been there for each other, which is lovely. I'm hoping for some more fun scenes soon though! I miss those. It seems like when Rach is in a good place Leah is not and vica versa. Quote
KirstyEkua Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 Finally some decent Rachel/Leah scenes!! I loved the little part about Leah not wanting to loose her best friend and Rachel telling her she'll never loose her no matter when she is I think it's a very real, normal friendship and i love how it's been played out over the years. No matter what they're there for each other. Although i think they've missed a lot of opportunities with them lately it's nice that when they're together everything is as it always is and you always get the impression a lot of stuff has happened off screne. 1 Quote
j.laur5 Posted June 12, 2020 Report Posted June 12, 2020 Rachel and Leah always were suppose to be childhood best friends and yet is so funny on how Leah never mention her on screen before Rachel arrive and Leah already be on show for six years before Rachel arrive and Leah never mention her again in ten years since she left. I remember Leah talking to Rachel in her first episode about Vinnie being in witness protection as thought they only just sure each other yesterday. Okay in fairness i guest most characters are not normally mention ever again once they leave and it wasn't really need plot wise for Leah to mention her friends before she moved to bay. Quote
