Thanks to everyone for the previous comments and the support. I am sorry to those who have been waiting for another update. I hope people are still interested in this story.

Panic had rushed through his veins, while his blood thicken as he thought more and more about his health. “Hey mate” Larry walked passed Aden as he stood in the kitchen, zoning out.

“I dunno when the hot date is, but you look nervous” Larry joked as Aden’s attention was finally directed at his father. “Huh...ohh” Aden sighed looking at himself; he had dressed professionally, wearing an expensive long black blouse with jeans. “So I take it you finally asked Belle out?” Larry smirked at his son. Aden continued to look sick in the face, “No I didn’t ask Belle out...” Aden paused and then became slightly aggressive in his voice, “And besides she has a boyfriend!”

“Oh I see, so if you’re not going on a date with Belle. Who’s the lucky lady?” Aden stood uncomfortably as he leaned on the kitchen counter with his two hands. “Look dad there’s no girl, okay!!” Aden raised his voice, the anxiety had risen as time ticked by.

“Okay....so if it’s not a girl, where are you off to then?” Larry asked in a normal voice, it didn’t occur to him that the asking was off limits. “Just- OUT. I don’t need to explain myself to you. Bye” Aden pushed his hands off the bench, then picked up his phone and iPod and proceeded to leave the house.

Closing the door behind him, Aden froze as images of Belle played in his mind like a projector, shaking his head to regain focus and looked down at his feet. The wind blew against him, Aden heaved another sigh, squeezing his right fist together, his feet moved down the stairs on his front yard.

Belle sat on the beach, the wind blowing her hair back. She held a ticket in her hand. A tear glided down her left cheek. Taking two deep breaths didn’t stop what was coming, scrunching the ticket tightly using both of her hands, her hand bowed down, more tears formed and existed.

“Hi, how may I help you” The receptionist said in a professional tone, despite her speaking in a soft tone it made Aden jump. “Ahh...” Aden looked around the waiting room, an old couple holding tightly onto each other sat next to the magazine table, while a mother and young daughter looked just as nervous as Aden had felt. “Sir” The receptionist spoke, Aden looked back at her. “Sorry” Aden apologised. “Have you been here before?” The lady was polite and patient. “Not to this clinic” Aden said as softly as he could.

“That’s alright, I just need you fill these forms out. They are very important. Details such as name, address, date of birth are pretty straight forward. But then there are more vital questions that must be taken particularly care with such as if you’re on any medication including vitamins, we need to know. Other questions will include if you’re suffering from any illness or diseases such as diabetes, asthma, allergies”

Aden stood blankly, occasionally nodding at her. He expected these questions and didn’t need to be told. But the nervous had taken a toll on him restraining him from saying or doing anything vulgar or naughty. “I-I u-nder-stand” Aden stuttered. “Just take a seat, we’ll call you when were ready” The receptionist smiled at him. Aden thought “well duh” but didn’t say out loud.

He sat down a empty seat at each side of his body. The little girl, who would probably be aged six looked at Aden, she whispered “Mummy, he looks like he’s gonna be sick. He does, he does”. Aden looked straight forward and pretended not to hear the little girl. “Shh..don’t say that” The mum whispered back. “Are you sick?” The girl finally spoke out loud. Aden looked at her, the mum looked uneasy. “I don’t know”

“Mummy, are we going to see the lady with the big, long bed....” The mum smiled at her, and softly told her in a sweet voice, “No darling, we’re not going to a psychologist”

“Ohhh....well this doesn’t look like the hos..pital” The little girl looked around anylasing the features of the room. “No baby, but it does look a bit like it doesn’t it” The little girl nodded with a smile. “Yep, it does. It does! Mummy....why are we here then?”

“Sweetie, remember. The doctor told mummy that we need to take a little bit of blood from you” The mother rubbed her daughter’s back. “But why?” The girl asked sorrowfully. “Because the doctors need to check and see if you are still sick” She kissed her head. “Ohhh...” The girl shrugged. “I was very sick. I hope you’re not sick. I hate needles, I’ve had lots and lots of needles” The mother whispered into her ear, “That’s enough now”

“I hope I’m not sick too...” Aden whispered at her smiling, his anxieties seem to have eased.

“What was that bug called again mummy?”

The mother sighed wishing her daughter would stop talking about their private life. “Lymphoma” The mother squeezed her eyes shut hoping not to cry once again in public. “Oh yeah, lim-foe-mah!”

“So-r” Aden was about to apologise. “ADEN JEFFERIES!” His name was called. Aden sat still not responding as the panic return. “ADEN JEFFERIES!” The man called again. “Is that you?” The little girl whispered. “Ah yeah, that’s me!” Aden put his hand up and walked over to the man. He turned back at the mother and daughter, the daughter waved smiling. Aden gave a smile back.

Aden sat down in a large chair. “Have you ever fainted during a blood test before” Aden shook his head. “Felt lightheaded?” A paused and looked at him, “Yeah”

“Alrighty, then I’d prefer you to lie down here” The pathologist pointed to a bed against the wall. “Ready?” The man asked. “Sure” Aden closed his eyes; he felt the prick of the needle.

“All done. You can sit up now” Aden sat up. “Just sit here for a few minutes. We don’t want you fainting” Aden nodded. “Now as soon as we get the results back the doctor should give you a call. It’s most likely they’ll re schedule an appointment. Then they will be able to tell you whether you’re positive or negative”

“Okay” Aden sighed. “It’s very easy to tell the difference between glandular fever and HIV, but having a blood test is the best way to diagnose”

“Yeah” Aden’s vision started to blurry, he felt sick in his stomach. The thought of HIV sickened him. “Sir, are you okay?” Aden moved side to side, “I think I’m going to be sick”

“Here I’ll give you a glass of water. It always helps”

“No...no water, I need a bucket” But the man insisted on a glass of water, as he left Aden puked on the floor. The man returned and sighed.

“Hello you’ve reached Aden, I’m busy at the moment but if you leave a message I’ll get back to you as soon as I can” The recorded message played over and over again as Belle ran Aden’s mobile. Belle had been sitting on the beach for almost an hour and a half. Belle looked at the scrunched ticket; she began to straight it out, smoothing the paper. Belle sat up and placed the ticket in her pocket. “Another day” Belle said to herself.

Aden had moved to a different room, he was ordered to lie down for at least an hour. In the meantime, the man who had drawn the blood kept him company. Aden was in the clear and was allowed to leave.

“Don’t even worry about it mate, you have cleaners for this type of thing” The man laughed with Aden as he left the room. Aden returned back to the waiting room, the mother was sitting on a different seat, her eyes red and filled with tears. Tissues were stuffed into her hand.

The receptionist looked at the mother and shook her head, respectfully. “Poor woman”

“Is everything okay” Aden asked the receptionist. She sighed, “Bad news I’m afraid”.

“Oh” Aden looked back at the mother. “Some patients are able to get their results very quickly” The receptionist informed Aden.
