Gay Love

Tbh, there's something I don't get (and please don't take this the wrong way!):

People say that homosexual people are the same as everyone else, and that we should just accept them as they are. If this is really the case then why are people making such a fuss about 'gay films'. I wouldn't say, 'Ooh, I'm heterosexual, isn't Love Actually so cute?!' People would just look at me and think I was losing the plot...

The reason gay films are made such a fuss about is because there are barely any around and when one comes out then its a change. Whereas Love Actually is just your typical film.

But you guys aren't saying that it's different; you're going on about how 'beautiful' these films are. You've said yourself that Love Actually is 'typical', if I went on about how 'beautiful' it is, you'd think I was odd... it's just a bit weird, 'tis all. Besides, by highlighting the fact that there's hardly any of them around, if that's what you're doing, surely you're just highlighting the fact and thus exacerbating the problem? This isn't aimed at you specifically, btw.

Were just discussing the films just as if we were discussing another film.

The reason were discussing the films is because this the gay thread

I thought this was a gay debate and discussion thread... I'm pretty sure there's the Rainbow Room for straight-out (pun not intended) discussion. But, yeah, I'm not trying to go all moderator-like, merely saying that I was just debating a point with you.

I also saw a few clips of Loving Annabelle (Thanks, Shan  ) that was a great movie.

That's still the best movie ever 3 years on!!

My favourites would have to be Loving Annabelle, The Truth About Jane, D.E.B.S and Gray Matters. Before I came out I kind of hired the lot (3 of them, Gray Matters wasn't out at that stage) and watched them all in a row so they're all lesbian movies. Surprisingly they helped.

I don't agree with people who don't agree with people being gay, but I suppose it would be hypocritical of me to insult and ridicule those people for not agreeing with me if I expect them to respect me for not agreeing with them.

I will say that, as a Christian, I get offended when people assume that homophobia and religion go hand in hand. They don't have to. I believe in a God who wants love and peace for all his children, but I also believe that a lot of those children find excuses to hate and hurt each other, and then point to God and say that it's what he wants them to do. I haven't read the Bible recently, but I don't think it says anywhere in there that it's okay to kill someone for being gay. And if it does, I need to get me a new religion, because I certainly didn't sign up for that. I also don't believe that God judges people based on their sexuality. I believe he made us the way we are for a reason, and that reason is to find love with the right person, whether they be male or female. I do not believe that love is a sin, and I can't understand why anyone could ever believe that it is.
