Love split still raw for Ada Nicodemou

FRIENDS and family were last night rallying around Home and Away actress Ada Nicodemou who was yesterday confirmed to have separated from her husband.

While there was no official word on the split yesterday, Confidential was told Nicodemou and her husband Chrys Xipolitas have decided their relationship is not working just three years after they married, and have decided to take time out.

"It has happened but it's just too personal for either of them to talk about it right now," a source told Confidential.

"She won't be commenting one way or the other at the moment."

Nicodemou, who was not wearing her wedding ring yesterday, has long been one of Australia's best-known actresses and married Xipolitas in 2007.

She works extensive hours playing Leah on the long-running Channel 7 soap, which is alternatively filmed in Palm Beach and Redfern, with days stretching from dawn to dusk, depending on the production schedule.

The separation presents a hurdle in Nicodemou's previously reported desire to start a family.

Xipolitas also works long hours at his Zippos restaurant in Blakehurst, an upmarket modern Australian diner specialising in seafood.

"I'm sorry but he's not in tonight," a spokesman for the restaurant said when Confidential called last night.

While Nicodemou is continuing on the soap, neither Seven or her management, RGM Associates, would comment on the separation.

And there was another one that said she hung up the phone when called and was basically asked if her marriage was over. My God. Who does that? I consider it POLITE that she just hung up given the circumstance. A lesser woman would have let some words fly!

Interesting that the caption on that photo (in the original article here) states that it was taken on location this week - it was actually taken a month ago.

I totally agree. How the hell is it any of our business what happens in her marriage? This is when the media drive me nuts.Good on her for showing some dignity and just hanging up.

It is sad though. They seemed so happy.

That is totally out of order  its none of their business. I have to say i would have given them a few choice words as well.

My heart really goes out to Ada :(

I agree, I really feel for Ada. She obviously doesn't want to comment on it so why do the media insist upon bothering her? It's really no one else's business but her and husbands. I hope she's looking after herself.

From Digital Spy:

'H&A' star's husband checks into clinic

Friday, April 16 2010, 08:33 BST

The estranged husband of Home and Away actress Ada Nicodemou has checked himself into a Sydney clinic following their split.

Restaurant owner Chrys Xipolitas, who married Nicodemou three years ago, is reportedly staying in the Northern Beaches health facility to undergo treatment for alleged depression.

Xipolitas spent time at the same clinic after his restaurant Zippo's was damaged by fire in 2007 and later admitted that he and Nicodemou had spent time apart while he received psychological help.

At the time, he said: "The whole thing with depression is the shame you feel. You find it so hard to talk. What might make a normal person upset, I magnify it ten times. I go to therapy and Ada comes to listen and see what it's all about and try to help. And in almost every session, I cry."

Xipolitas's father John told The Daily Telegraph yesterday: "Can I just say Ada is a fantastic housewife and woman? I had a beautiful daughter-in-law and I hope they sort out their problems."
