I just rewatched Pippa's last appearance in 2009 and it seemed more like Debra Lawrance than Pippa we knew in 90s.  In the 2009 episodes and I remember people seemed to give Pippa a bit hate when 7Two repeated her episodes and I think the problem was everyone got to used her guest returns as Pippa and was just being like Debra Lawrance and not having deal with Summer Bay dramas.

But I think when Characters are not having storylines centred on them the character feels more like the actor.

I will always be angry at Pippa's exit in 1998. Sure she might have come back many times after but there was just no emotion  to her last episode. At the very most I wanted Pippa to have a heart to heart talk with Sally as she was leaving behind the one foster child she arrived in the bay with.

Pippa didn't even get a proper final scene with Alisa/Alf/Irene/Donald /Marilyn if I remember rightly.

I can't help but wonder if they gave Ailsa and Pippa bad exits on purpose because they were angry at well regarded Australian actress's like Judy and Debra quitting  and expected Debra and Judy to stay on the show for years and years.

Don bought her a mobile phone to help her stay in touch, didn’t he?

Although I expected Pippa to come back at the time as I believed the 6 month story, I think the show didn’t want to lose the fostering element and Travis & Rebecca taking over briefly was more realistic than someone taking over the house and deciding to “follow the tradition of the house” as we got when Sally left from Alf (who knew the house long before it was a tradition).

I’d actually love to see Pippa back to support Marilyn, there have been a few missed opportunities, but even now with Raffy’s departure and her still struggling to let her go, as she’s done with her other foster kids, that’s where some advice from Pippa could really help.

I assume Pippa isn’t still fostering, but actually what they should have done is had her settle in the City rather than the Carrington Ranges and had her become some kind of DoCs liaison or something, supporting new foster parents.

Is the Carrington Ranges real place or made up place like Summer Bay?.

I hope Pippa makes a return as a guest this year as I think now it’s been a while since we saw her. It wouldn’t matter if she just returned without any particular reason .

But the problem was most times she returned had something to do with Sally.

She said she would as a guest but not as a regular due to her now living in Melbourne.

Where would she find the time? If you look at the schedule for that Harry Potter play she's appearing in, it's quite gruelling. I assume she's filming her occasional appearances on Neighbours on her days off.

She’s not on Neighbours anymore, she was just appearing as a guest .

I don’t think she's been in the Harry Potter play  for too long.

The Harry Potter play is in Glebe I believe and that’s only a few suburbs away from the H&A studio in Eveleigh.

Debra said in an interview that she misses more family simple stories.

But she said she definitely understands why the show had to become more dramatic and that the show had to keep up with the times. No one wants to watch simple stuff at 7pm anymore .

But I think Debra wouldn’t turn down a guest appearance if offered. I guess Debra knows the main reason why they haven’t brought her back in a long time is that Pippa was brought back mostly  because of Sally. Now Sally is no longer on the show she doesn’t expect to be asked back.

Yes, that's what I meant by "occasional appearances". ?

The Harry Potter play is only on in Melbourne, in a theatre that has been especially converted for that purpose. The plan is that the play will run there for years to come. If you look at the website for the tickets, you'll see that the play runs twice a day, five days a week https://harrypotter.ticketmaster.com.au/both-consecutive/calendar/2020/01   We don't know how long Debra will stay with this production but for someone like her, it's ideal. It's a popular play, a steady job and is within driving distance of her home. I occasionally look at her Instagram account and it would appear that on her days off, she sometimes works at her "other job" which is doing voice coaching for women. So she no more needs Home and Away than a fish needs a bicycle.

If she was to return to acting in soaps to any extent, my money is on more appearances in Neighbours.

Sorry I missed that bit on you saying her occasional appearance on Neighbours and thought the play was in Sydney.

But I do think Debra would return to H&A as a guest if asked and wasn’t busy.

But unfortunately I can’t see that happening at the moment unless they decide to bring characters back for a reunion if Irene has 70th or other Summer Bay town celebration.
