The Australian format follows the same format as the UK....judges and presenters travel for all the auditions, the judges houses (which are ususally global) and then for the remaing twelve weeks are based in the studio.

If Luke Jacobz continues as presenter for next year if the X Factor is successful enough to return next year...then he may very well have to consider giving up his position on Home and Away. It's all well and good to see a popular charcter like Alf take six months off because a majority of fans would want his character to return. However Luke's character doesn't carry the same popularity. If he chose to do the X Factor over Home and Away I would doubt the writers would hold out for him to return.

However based on how quickly the position was filled and on such short notice...I'm questioning if Luke is simply a last resort until the find a permanent replacement. Many presenters who do the X Factor find the filming schedule gruelling and not many can fulfill commitments to more than one project because of it. It has happened on the UK version many times. I can't see how Luke could juggle both.

Although Esther was able to maintain her work between Melbourne and Sydney, you could still see the toll it was taking on her having to rehearse and film for Home and Away and travel back and forth. If Luke did the entire run of the X Factor I can't see how it would be possible for him to be flying from Rome or Dublin back to Sydney to shoot. It's an impossible schedule to keep.

But he wouldn't have to fly between Dublin and Sydney every week. It would just be for the judegs homes bit. Apart from Ronan Keating, the other judges are Australian so he may not have to travel that far for them. Two of the judges on the UK version of "Strictly Come Dancing" fly between the US and the Uk every single week whilst filming both the UK and US versions and one of them is no spring chicken!

Congrats to Luke, im sure he will do a great job however long he is asked to do it ;)

I hope someone can put some of his segments on youtube when it airs.

They dont travel to the judge's real homes, so just because the other judges are Australian, doesnt mean they will film judge's houses in Australia. It's usually done in far flung locations that are appealing to viewers.

The fact is, it would be impossible for Luke to do the entire run of X Factor next year as well as being on H&A. Auditions in each capital city, then bootcamp, then judge's houses which takes four weeks to film all over the world. Then, when it comes to the live shows it's pretty full on. As I have mentioned before, previous X Factor hosts here have had to give up other jobs. H&A's filming schedule is very hectic and calls for filming day and night. There is no way he could juggle both for six months of the year.

Yeah but it's not 6 months of constant travelling. There are 4 judges so it would mean travelling to 4 different places for probably a day or 2 of filming at each place. It's not as though he is a contestant, then that would be impossible.Ryan Seacrest on "American Idol" presents a four and a half hour radio show everyday of the year while still managing to do Idol.Anyway, didn't Luke do "Dancing with the Stars" where he was a contestant with all that rehearsal etc and survived? I'm not saying it's gonna be easy but it's definately doable!

Forgot to say that I just read an article about the X Factor that explained that what takes 6 months to film for the UK is done in 6 weeks for the Australian one! So it's not as time consuming as the Brit one. The live stages are filmed from studios in Sydney so Luke won't have to travel anywhere for that. He will be fine I'm sure!

Does it really matter? We'll just have to wait and see.It wasn't successful here during it's first run and I doubt it was the host's fault.Daniel Macpherson now hosts DWTS and is a well known person in Australia.

 I see the Angelo fans are freaking out that he might be leaving so they're trying to convince people he isn't. Good luck to him; he seems to suit more as a presenter than an actor

Does The X Factor air on Seven out there? I imagine if it did, and they felt he was sucessful in both shows, then they would juggle his H&A schedule accordingly, ensuring that he had the bulk of his storylines when The X Factor wasn't airing. Though there really isn't any reason why he couldn't do both, the reality of the auditions/bootcamp/judge's houses stage is that they are spread out over several months, so it could probably be worked around.

Either way, good luck to him, presenting sure isn't an easy gig!

Pretty crap circumstances surrounding how he got the job. But I remember him as far back as being on the Big Arvo, he's a likeable guy. Good luck to him, I'm sure he'll be great.

I remember that show! The Big Arvo/Brekky was like, my childhood. He was awesome. I reckon he'll be good at hosting. He seems like he would be able to carry it :).
