Personally, I think Matt/Katya (which would have been dynamite!) and Gavin/Aliona may have worked better.

Yes, probably so.

As far as I'm aware (and I may be wrong) Kara had about the same amount of dance training as any other actress/popstar that ahs appeared on Strictly.... Matt's gymnastics were only an advantage in his Cha Cha, where they worked. The rest of the time, the gymnastics looked out of place. He was a great dancer without them, so it's a shame Aliona went OTT including them.

Yes, I'm sure you are right. I am really tired and a bit 'danced out', so feel cynical and at a bit of an anticlimax. tomorrow I'll feel happy for Kara. I was so gutted Pamela didn't win, I hope when I'm 60 I can do the things she can (20 years to go!).

II've never quite believed it anyway. Or at least, from Kara's side. Artem seems completely genuinely into her, but I can't decide if she gave the same vibe. I guess time will tell

I just think more and more that it is all coming from him, he seems very young and innocent (SEEMS  ). But actually, if she is not being genuine, I'm sure he'll have loads of women to comfort him, so it won't be too awful for him

Oh I'm right there with you in terms of anti climax. Mainly because the show was disappointing, but Kara winning has sort of made it up for me. :D

I agree. I don't think she'd lead him on, because she seems too lovely, but I do hope she wont break his heart. I never fully though Ali Bastian was as into Brian as he was her. Oh well, what they do now is their business. I wish them well. Kara Tointon (& Artem) have well and truly gained a new fan in me.

Ah, that is nice. I'm glad I posted on this thread to 'speak' to some BTTB Strictly fans :)

I'm off to bed in a min as its 11pm but tell me, who was your favourite male celeb? It was definitely Scott for me

Matt was too decent and nice, I couldn't ever imagine him doing anything naughty. I suppose Scott is more my age too.

To be honest, I like both Matt & Scott. I preferred Matt myself. Scott was a great dancer and did some fabulous performances (Quickstep, Jive and VW, for example), but I thought Matt was more consistant. However, in contrast, where Scott's VW, Jive and Quickstep were all quite memorable, Matt hasn't really got such a memorable dance. Or, pushing it, his Cha Cha Cha (from week 1!) or Samba. They both had their faults and bad weeks though, which is a shame.

I thought Jimi was eliminated before his time too.

Lesley Baker, did you see James and Artem's rumba? so funny.

I had missed that, but i just took a look at the video there, that was really funny  best dance of the series perhaps?? :P

I found the whole series disappointing. It's the first time I've watched it that I've missed episodes and not been glued to my tv. The only dance that I watched again (via I player) was Scott's Jive and normally I'm all "did you see that...." and watching them all. Still look at some of the older dances on you tube occasionally.

I would have preferred Scott in the final over Matt. I had a feeling he wouldn't win it because some of the dances that Aliona choreographed were too modern and his showdance would have been full of tricks and gymnastics. Yeah ok mate you cna do a back flip but this show is about what you've learnt over the series let's see the dancing.

I found myself liking Kara's Showdance but it got spoiled by pushing to include another lift and another lift. I do think that they will be a couple for a while at least. Cynical much? As an aside did anyone see the show she did on dyslexia? She seems such a really nice person.

Pamela and Jordan's showdance was good but I shouted at the screen Dirty Dancing rip off.... I would have personally liked a bit more in it. It was nice that she got to the final.

Roll on the Christmas show....

I guess we all see things differently because, apart from the ridiculous format changes, I thought it was the best series overall since series 5. Series 6 was destryoed by John Sergeant-gate, and series 7 caught the aftermath of that, whilst still suffering itself for, at the very least, having quite a dull bunch of celebs. This series has had quite a few dances I've done that with (mainly Kara's :P)

Whilst Matt's gymnastics ended up bringing the routines down, I was much happier he was in the final than Scott. Scott has proved he's capable of brilliant performances, like his Jive and VW, but he's also proved that he can just as easily end up being bad, like his Rumba and American Smooth (which was AWFUL beyond words). I'd rather have a celeb that I'm confident enough can dance well, even with bad choreography, than somebody who could have potentiall brilliant choreography and stuff it up by dancing badly.

I agree the gymnastics were used too much, but that was down to Aliona, not Matt. Also, i don't think Aliona meant them to end up being his downfall. I think she was just trying to play to his strengths, but did so without realising how the viewers felt about it.

Kara's showdance was good, but on a whole, they were ALL really below average. None of the Showdances were brilliant. Artem fluffed it right at the final hurdle by choreographing something all about lifts. A shame, because Kara had potential to do possibly the best showdance ever. Oh well. I haven't seen that show that. My sister said it was brilliant and I kept meaning to watch but forgot. I might watch it later.

Pamela and Jordan's showdance was good but I shouted at the screen Dirty Dancing rip off.... I would have personally liked a bit more in it. It was nice that she got to the final.

... And sadly so. It would have worked if they'd changed the routine a little, but it just didn't. The song was appropriate yes, but I think it ultimately just ended up being a cliched performance. Matt & Kara's Showdances were both average in comparison to previous series showdances, but at least they were both original. Kudos to them for making it that far though. Pamela completed part of possibly the best final 3 since Alesha/Matt/Gethin

I want to be excited about that, but I just can't. It's a shame they've changed the original format of having previous contestants, because that amde it feel more personal. Oh well, it's just a bit of fun. And Strictly is still Strictly, after all. I'm just sad it's over for another year. (Or, rather, 9 or 10 months.)

I agree it was the best season I can remember, the contestants were all so strong, well the final few anyway LOL!

I think a lot of Scott's problem was his tiredness. He had a very busy filming schedule at Eastenders and he is probably about 10 years older than Matt, so I think if he'd been 30 rather than 40 he would have done better, but that's the way it goes. Matt was just more supple, as well, being a gymnast rather than an actor. I couldn't warm to Matt though, he was too 'nice'

I don't know anything about Kara, so probably if I did know more about her character, I'd have been more pleased about her winning  She is a worthy winner though, a good dancer :)
