Id say he hasn't punched her because she is his sister and she is a woman, most men wouldn't punch a woman in the face no matter what they did let alone punching their sister in the face.

Th last few episodes have been interesting. I can still sense a change of direction, and after Dan F mentioned that there had been a change in Story Editor from Bevan Lee to this Dave Worthington I went back and checked when Bevan's last episode was. Interesting that Dave's first episode was the introduction of the new credits! But what I don't get, is that I would have thought the Story Editor changing wouldn't change the direction of the show so drastically - would the Exec Producer or other Producers not have a more major role or is the Story Editor the main person who chooses where to take the show?

I love Marilyn's line about the city being full of 'carbon peroxide' Also, Morag and Celia are such wonderful characters. Morag puts on this vindictive, bitter attitude when in fact, underneath it all she just wants to be loved. It's like she's trapped in a vicious circle of bitterness. Meanwhile, it seems that Celia is desined to be alone, despite the fact tat Nigel was clearly interested in her. I'm not ery happy with the way his character exited the show, when th writers have been making him lead Celia on and give her signals, bless her. However, it was heartbreaking to watch Celia being dumped like that.

Is it likely that this Dave Worthington guy decided to write out Philip, Andrew and Nigel when in fact they might have been extended to reglar status had Bevan stayed in the role as Story Editor? It also seems like Dave decided to

split Frnk nd Bobby up, he obviously wasn't a fan of their partnership. It's going to be really sad when Bobby's dumped.

Sorry Alexx, I'm going to be blunt here.

That is a blatantly sexist attitude that unfortunately is too common in this society, even in this day and age. The real message (no matter how much one wants to deny it or distort or weasel out of it) remains "it's OK to hit another man but it is not OK to hit a woman"

Different set of rules according to gender I'd say. Disgusting.

You can call me sexist if you want, but my opinion on men hitting women has nothing to do with what society tells me to think. Now this might sound sexist but I think its what it boils down to, women are generally physically weaker than men, have a lower pain threshold and it takes a womans body longer to heal (clinical facts) thus, taking away the gender difference, it is unfair for a male to punch a woman in the face particularly becuase they can and probably would do far more damage to the face than what most woman would do to a man. They are not equally matched.

It would be like a 45 year old 6 foot male punching a 5 foot 16 year old male - it is totally unfair. Regardless, I am not a violent person and would feel equally uncomfortable punching a guy in the face as I would a female, especially over something as non threatening as what Morag has done (the only time I'd resort to whacking someones lights out is if I was in a life or death situation). Alf punching Morag would be pretty disgusting Imo, it would make gripping and controversial TV but I dont think Alf would be the type to hit any of his family (Don isn't blood related). If Alf had a history of hitting women at the drop of a hat then I'd probably wonder why he hadn't hit Morag but he hasn't and so it would be out of character - nothing to do with sexist views.

Morag doesn't strike me as exactly having an unusually low pain threshold, and Alf doesn't use his fists with anyone (regardless of gender) "at the drop of a hat".

Then why would he hit Morag now of all times? I always have the impression Alf see's Morag as more of a sisterly annoyance rather than a real threat. Anyway that is beside the point - it would be out of character for him to wallop his sister Imo

I agree with much of what alexx has said:Alf doesn't strike me as the sort of person who would punch any woman in the face, never mind his sister. And certainly not for general nastiness or even the sort of scheming or manipulation she's been involved in in the past.Temperament and motive-wise, Bobby would be more likely to punch Morag and she hasn't shown much interest in doing so either.Punching Morag feels a bit self-defeating anyway, she's the sort of woman you need to out-think or outsnipe.Hitting her would most likely give her a few seconds of pain and a feeling of triumph that you couldn't think of anything more intelligent to do.

Ugh Alexx you just played right into his hands there which is exactly what I was avoiding in my reply. It was obvious when he asked the question he was waiting for someone to say that.
