I loved that whole fish death storyline - so silly and daft but completely funny and lighthearted with a poignant twist at the end (Lance keeping him in his pocket instead of in the coffin). Current H&A need to do this sort of thing, as Ryan said in another thread it fleshes out the characters and creates a stronger sense of community spirit.

Did anyone else notice Ailsas jumper in yesterdays ep and Wednesday? Her Palm Beach top I thought that was kind of funny considering Home & Away is filmed at Palm Beach. Bobby is such a hypocrite the way she treats Emma. She used to be the same if it wernt for the Fleatchers and Ailsa she'd probably be in jail.

Yes but as others have pointed out, Bobby gave her a fair go at the start and gave her respect yet Emma didn't give her any in return - those that gave Bobby respect when she was being foul, got it back.

The key difference between Bobby and Emma is highlighted when Ailsa wanted Emma to babysit Duncan. Emma refused to help, Bobby would probably have done it without Ailsa even having to ask.

The only thing that baffles me about this is why any right thinking parent would want someone as selfish and irresponsible as Emma to look after their child.

I enjoyed the scenes surrounding Lance and the fish, as others have pointed out they need scenes like that on today's show. The last time we had a nice light hearted thing like that was when Romeo and Xavier were running around Summer Bay trying to get rid of Hugo's money and it kept finding its way back to them - and that was a year and a half ago!

I also liked the scenes with Lance giving his money to the Fletchers - it was a really sweet scene.

The stuff with Emma in the Diner isn't realistic. Either Ailsa is oblivious to the way Emma treats the customers (which is not very believable) or she is turning a blind eye to it (which is also not very believable as her business is at stake). I am glad Bobby finally told her that either she does something about Emma or she's going to walk. Also, hasn't she been pressuring Alf to make an effort with Emma? Yet when he does, by offering driving lessons, she sulks? I am not getting Ailsa lately. In fact she hasn't been a very good character this year, compared to last year when she was one of the best characters on the show.

Helped by the fact that it appears to have last two episodes. Unlike the raft race and the bunyip stuff which went on for weeks and weeks.

Today I was at Lifeline and I found two old Home & Away books the Frank Morgan Story and the Bobby Simpson Story they both tell Bobbys and Franks back stories before Home & Away. I can hardly wait to read them.

Having seen up to 415, I'm kind of at the same point as the characters with Emma.I gave her a chance but, while she does have a softer side, she mostly comes across as a brat.If she wants people to respect her, she needs to start showing some respect in return.

I actually think Ailsa's improved since the middle of last year, when she seemed to be acting high and mighty with Alf for disagreeing with her even though his viewpoint seemed just as valid. But I agree, that driving lesson thing was weird:Ailsa's response just made me go "Huh?"Even if she didn't think it was a good idea, being snooty with Alf in front of Emma instead of airing her views in private was a bad way of handling it.

I think the problem with Alf offering to teach Emma to drive is that it smacks of bribery. It sends the message that all Emma has to do is act up and Alf and Ailsa will give her anything to avoid a scandal.

Possibly.Although if Ailsa has a problem with that, you wonder why she's given Emma a job, seemingly on the grounds that no-one who isn't related to her would be daft enough to employ her.I think Ailsa was worried that Emma's not responsible enough to learn to drive but whichever way you look at it it seems like a double standard.

Actually, thinking about it, Emma's reaction was even more bizarre.A few episodes previous, she clearly didn't want to get in a car alone with Alf and, despite reluctantly promising Ailsa to give him a chance, they didn't seem to have grown any closer. So I was expecting her to throw the offer back in his face.Instead she seemed positively excited about the idea.
