Episode 39

That night, Alison is just about to get ready for bed when the phone rings.

Alison: Hello?

Sheila: May I speak to Alison Patterson please?

Alison: This is her.

Sheila: Hello dear. My name is Sheila Knott and I run a cake shop in Darling Harbour. I believe you know my grand-daughter Kat.

Alison: Yes, I do. Why?

Sheila: I was wondering if you would like to work at my store on Monday’s and Wednesday’s from next week.

Alison: Are you serious?

Sheila: Of course I am sweetie.

Alison: That’s great. I’m looking forward to working with you.

Sheila: Likewise. I’ll see you at 3:30 on Monday.

Alison: I’ll see you then. Bye. *hangs up the phone*

The next day at TAFE, Vicki is sitting with Alison and friends having lunch with them.

Vicki: Thank you so much for inviting me to sit at your table! *giggles*

Rachael: You’re welcome. Feel free to sit here anytime.

Melissa: Our friends are always welcome here. And you are one of them now?

Vicki: I’m just glad Erin got suspended. She had no right to tell the entire school. I would’ve have told you myself.

Sylvia: I understand. Well, she’s not our friend anymore that’s for sure.

Amy: I never knew that she would be such a manipulator! I know what you did to her cat was wrong but cats can be replaced.

Alison: I know. When Erin comes back, I’m not talking to her that’s for sure.

Melissa: That goes double for me.

Vicki: It’s good to know I’ve got friends who care.

Rachael: Would you like to come to my party tomorrow night?

Vicki: I would love to. *giggles*

Meanwhile at Civic High School, Jessica is just coming back from the canteen when Catherine approaches her.

Catherine: Hey.

Jessica: Hello.

Catherine: Listen, I’m sorry about Tuesday.

Jessica: No, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have yelled at you.

Catherine: You had every right to yell at me. I was being overprotective.

Jessica: I guess you do have a point.

Catherine: Friends?

Jessica: Friends. *both girls hug*

Catherine: Is Alex at school?

Jessica: He’s at home again. But he’ll be back on Monday.

Catherine: That’s good.

Jessica: Why don’t you come over after school and talk to him?

Catherine: That’s a good idea.

Jessica: The boys are coming over there anyway. They want to show him that they’re still his friends and that they were never angry at him.

Catherine: I just hope it works out.

When Alison gets home from TAFE, she phones Erin. After four rings, the answering machine takes the call.

Erin (on answering machine): Hi this is Erin. I’m not home at the moment but if you would like to leave your name and phone number, I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. Bye.

*answering machine beeps*

Alison: Erin. Just to let you know that we are not your friends anymore and you’re not invited to Rachael’s party tomorrow night. Mrs Maddigan should’ve expelled you in the first place. Goodbye! *slams the phone down*

At the Oloaga’s house, the Year 8 boys have arrived to see Alex.

*Tyson knocks on Alex’s bedroom door*

Tyson: Alex bro. It’s me Tyson.

Riggot: We’re not mad at you man. We just want to talk.

Leon: Come on bro. Don’t shut us out.

Randall: I’ll check through the window. *walks outside*

Jessica: He should be in there. Here, let me try. *bangs on the door* OPEN THE DOOR NOW ALEX!!!!

Elijah: There was no need for that tone.

Jessica: Alex can be pretty stubborn when he wants to be. *to Seru* How’s your shoulder?

Seru: It’s still a bit sore.

*Randall comes back inside*

Randall: Jess. Where’s Alex?

*Jessica opens the door only to see an empty bedroom*

*At a bus stop, Alex is waiting for a bus to come. He is carrying a red sports bag and tears spill down his cheeks*

Episode 40

At a bus stop a few minutes away from his house, Alex is about to get on the bus when he sees Alexis and Madison get off it.

Alexis: Hey Alex. Where are you heading off to?

Alex: I’m just going to the shops.

Madison: Okay then. We’ll see you at school on Monday. *they walk off*

*Alex gets on the bus while choking back tears*

Meanwhile at the Oloaga’s house, Jessica is in a frantic state because Alex isn’t anywhere to be seen.

*Julianna walks inside*

Jessica: Anna! Have you seen Alex?

Julianna: No. Why?

Jessica: He isn’t in his room. Unless he’s with Mum…

Julianna: That where he probably is.

Riggot: Hey Jess! Come quick!

*Jessica, Julianna and the boys race into Alex’s room*

Jessica: What is it?

*Riggot opens the clothes drawer. Some of Alex’s clothes are missing*

Julianna: Oh, no! Don’t tell me he’s run away!

*Christine enters the house with the other Oloaga siblings*

Christine: I’m home!

*Jessica, Julianna and the boys come out of Alex’s bedroom with sad expressions on their faces*

Christine: What is it?

After Christine sends the boys home, she sends the younger siblings (Jaycob, John and Bronwyn) to their rooms and sits down with Jessica and Julianna.

Christine: Why would he just leave? He’s only 13 and a half.

Jessica: I don’t know Mum. I just don’t know.

*Alexis and Madison walk into the living room after being let in by their (the Oloaga’s) older brother Benjamin*

Alexis: Is everything okay? The boys left your house quite upset.

Christine: No it’s not unfortunately. Alex has gone missing.

Alexis: Alex? Missing? I just saw him getting on the bus a few minutes ago.

*Jessica stands up*

Jessica: Which bus did he catch?

Madison: Not sure. He said he was going to the shops.

Christine: Thanks for your help girls. *to Jessica and Julianna* You girls stay here while I try go look for him. *leaves the house*

*The others just look on sadly*

At Alison and Jenny’s house, Alison is study for her exams which are less then one week away when the doorbell rings. She opens the door to find a furious Erin standing there.

Erin: Why the hell have I been kicked off the invite list for Rachael’s party?

Alison: Because what you did to Vicki was unforgivable! I know what she did to your cat was wrong but that gave you no right to callously humiliate her in front of hundreds of students!

Erin: She got what she deserved!

Alison: It’s like you’ve got some sort of vendetta against Vicki. When you get to know her, she’s a nice and caring person.

Erin: So, now I’ve been replace by her! Is that right?

Alison: You know what Erin? Just leave!

Erin: Fine. I will! *storms off*

*Alison slams the door shut and sighs heavily*

Meanwhile, Leon and Hayley talk about what just happened to Alex.

Leon: Nobody is mad at him. It was an accident when he tackled Seru.

Hayley: I know. Catherine gets a bit overboard sometimes.

Leon: I just hope he comes home safe.

Hayley: Out of all the boys at school, I think that you are the nicest and most respected.

Leon: You do?

Hayley: Of course I do.

*Leon and Hayley look at each other for a few minutes before they have their first kiss*

Hayley: You’re such a good kisser.

Leon: Same to you. *they kiss again*

After a three hour search, Christine fails to find Alex and returns home.

Jessica: Did you find him?

Christine: No such luck. I looked everywhere.

Julianna: Did you go to the police?

Christine: Yes. But they said they can’t do anything unless the person has been missing for 48 hours. I just hope he comes home. *collapses on the floor in tears*

*Julianna and Jessica hug their weeping mother and cry also*

Episode 41

At 7 oclock that evening, Alex arrives at a homeless shelter in Holsworthy. Once the owner of the shelter shows him around, Alex lays down on his cot bed reading a sports magazine.
*A girl possibly in her late-teens lays down in her cot bed and starts talking to Alex*
Carina: How come Ive never seen you here before?
Alex: I just arrived. Who are you by the way?
Carina: Carina Howard. You?
Alex: Alex Oloaga. Nice to meet you.
Carina: What brings you here? You look like you come from a middle-class family.
Alex: I left home.
Carina: Why was that?
Alex: Because last week at school, I injured one of my friends while we were playing rugby league. His girlfriend had a massive sook at me and called me an idiot. Now, all the others are mad at me.
Carina: Poor guy. Ive lived here for a year now.
Alex: Why did you come here?
Carina: Its a long story.
Alex: Besides, only my family will be worried about me.
Before they go to bed that night, the Oloagas sit in the living room praying for Alex to come home safely.
Christine: Our heavenly Father. Please bring Alex back home to us. Its not like him to just run away from home for no reason. Please our heavenly Father, bring him back home. *starts to cry* Amen.
Jessica: Life is just not fair. *wipes away her tears*

The next day (Saturday), Alexs friends sit down at the park thinking about what has just happened over the past week.
Leon: Why did he run away? Why?
Riggot: I know he was deeply upset about injuring Seru but it was an accident.
Tyson: Catherine yelling at him didnt help matters.
Elijah: She was going to apologise to him yesterday.
Tyson: Its her fault if Alex never comes back.
Riggot: He will man. I just know it.
*The boys then get into a group hug
Meanwhile, Catherine is over at Alexis house kicking herself in the teeth after the drama at school.
Catherine: Im such an idiot. If I didnt yell at Alex, hed still be here.
Alexis: Dont go blaming yourself. You were just upset.
Catherine: I know. Seru feels so bad as well.
Alexis: Once this whole drama is sorted, everything will be back to normal.
Catherine: I sure hope so.
*Alexis hugs her best friend*

That night, all TAFE students and some Civic High Year 11 and 12 students attend Rachaels welcome home party which is being held at Alisons house.
*The party plays all of the latest music and everyone is either socialising, dancing or eating food*
Alison: This is so fun!
Melissa: I know!
Sylvia: Im surprised at how many people turned up!
Alison: Well, Rachael is very popular around here!
Kat: Were just glad that shes back home.
Alison: Me too.
A few hours later, the party is still going strong.
Kat: Having fun Rachael?
Rachael: I am having a really good time. Thank you all so much for coming.
Kat: Were glad youre having a good time.
*Two hours later, Rachael receives presents from her friends. But the most important present of all is a card that she receives signed by her family and friends.*
Rachael: This is so lovely. Thank you all very much!
*Everyone applauds Rachael as the party draws to a close*
