Hm... I've been viewing these boards for about three years now, and being a member for a year and a half, and I have to say that I have noticed that the interest for the logies seem to have almost gone now comparing to for example 2008 and 2009. Back then the threads about the logies were about 35 pages and now the Logies thread are only 4 pages. I saw this already last year, because comparing to 2009 the interest here was very low. In 2009 people followed this live/on tv and commented when everything happened. Remember the excitement here when Lincoln Lewis won his silver logie for pop new talent and Kates gold one in 2008, and Todd Lasance's silver logie win in 2009... Last year home and away had 11 nominations far more than the years before, but still the interest seem pretty low.

And now this year with only 2 nomintations and no wins it seems like the interest (and maybe the interest in general, I've read on Austr. newpapers websites) seem to be like zero.

I know (from what I've read) that it was the organizers interest to cut the chances for H&A and neighbours for winning the popular statues... but as a foreigner I find this a bit weird... Because no one seem to complain when Packed to the rafters wins almost all the prizes. Yes, I know that this series is very popular in Australia, but there are others too. And if H&A shouldn't win with about 1 mill viewers and The Packed should win all with 1.9 mill then it's a bit weird... It's like media in Australia is trying to dictate what people should like or not. And this is very typical for awards and not only in Australia... I can see things like this in my own country when it comes to the music industry and awards (the Tv and movie industry isn't big enough).

Because why don't people from H&A never win the outstanding prizes?? Yes, I know it's only a soap, but shouldn't an outstanding perfomance prize be about an outstanding performance and not about the show that you are on?? I remember I thought it was strange that for instance Todd L did not get nominated for that prize in 2009, I think he should have (and I know about some actors there who were nominated who I think is no better than some of the H&A actors)... even if I don't know all the other shows it seems to me that they don't want H&A actors to win it because that they (the juries) think that soap actors are worse than others... But I think from what I have seen from clips and a few eps from paced to the rafters that the acting here aren't that much better than on H/A... actually worse sometimes, even they use much more time to recording it (because of fewer eps..).. I think that the scenes with this Ben at his wifes funeral were totally off... where were the real emotions?!? A big cry from Flynns funeral and even Jack or Belles... It is a bit cold and jugdemental and also very old fashioned, and thats maybe the reason why it doesn't get popular outside Australia.

I think it also weird as a foreigner to look in a programme guide in my country to see so many Australian (good) series..Rush for example and then see blogging or the news from the logies and such good series get totally left out! It's like Australian TV is just about one TV-series...

But when it comes to this year I don't think it is weird that H&A didn't win anything, because 2010 season (which this years logies are based on??) was totally horrible!! I don't think (from what I've seen) that Charles cottier wasn't very good as Dex either because the writing of him wasn''t good last year - he was too weird and his storylines (Mitzy, Marilyn) felt uncomfortable to watch... I have a feeling that he is better this year (from reading the comments and seen some few clips)...

This is not meant to be critisism because I have no right to... this isn't my country and I don't fully know the Australian entertainment... But these thoughts are just thoughts and some observations seen from outside.. :)

I was a little shocked to see there were only four pages. There was a time when we'd all lif blog it.

As for outstanding awards I don't think it has to do with the show so much as the quality.HAA just doesn't have the samw quality as the competiton which is why it's lagged behind the last few years.

I still can't get over the Karl bs.Seriously, who the hell voted for him?Even Chrissie would've been better.I love her.

this is what I mean. The storylines are sometimes a bit off on H&A, but still some of them are pretty good (at least they were a couple of years ago), and the acting is good if not better sometimes, but I think that the juries won't vote for any soap actor because they think the quality on H&A is worse than for example on Packed... The storylines about the stalkers like Penn, Gardy, People smuggling etc. are dragging the whole show down and then good storylines and acting like for instance Adens storyline (the 2008 storyline..), Marthas cancer, Flynns cancer etc don't get as much attention as they deserves... I've read that people think that when Julie (if that is the name of Rebecca Gibneys Packed character) gave birth was such a good one as she deserved a logie for it last year.. but these storylines I mentioned here, had a lot of very good acted scenes from their actors!

It's unlikely that someone from H&A would feature in the outstanding awards, because over a season, the quality is just not there, especially with storylines and acting; last year was particularly poor. Todd was probably the only one over the last few seasons I would have considered a chance.

I know this is a H&A forum, but it always amazed me that they could have so many nominations over the years, yet shows like Rush, East West 101 and many other great shows that have excellent storylines and much better acting miss out. I think that's why I don't take the Logies seriously, it's just one big popularity contest (which is why popular is in most categories). These days, I much prefer quality tv over popular tv.

I'd love for them to actually release the number of votes for each category, especially for the Gold; for the gold, I'd also like to know how many of the votes were from the same people. It's all about the media promoting their own stars, encouraging their viewers to vote and half the time, I don't even know how some of them could be popular. Karl winning the gold for most popular personality in Australia just seems so wrong - I know people like him (thou I find the guy incredibly dull and annoying), but I find it hard to believe that he was voted the most popular in Australia. And I agree, even Chrissie would have been better; she's so fun and real, and unlike Karl, she doesn't make me want to watch Kochie (something I entirely blame Karl for).

They couldn't even get Charles' nomination right! They showed Ryan Corr instead of Charles, so he didn't even get his little spotlight moment. Bitter, me? Never .

Channel 9 were doing some seriously heavy campaigning for Karl this year, so I'm not really surprised he won.

I just sort of flicked over from MasterChef and thought, gee, Dex is looking a little different. I don't watch PTTR (lost interest midway through season 2 when they just became incredibly annoying to me) so I wasn't sure who it was.

It would be nice if there wasn't such promotion of the stars, I'd rather that people were just allowed to vote for who they liked without all the heavy campaigning. And I'm annoyed that a channel 9 person won the gold after Eddie McGuire criticised Chrissie's nomination - please, they had Karl Snoozanovic nominated, so what was wrong with Chrissie being there? So glad I rarely watch Channel 9 these days (I think the Logies was the first time in months), I really don't like their attitude and I really didn't like the way that they had Karl interviewed moments before he won.

Time for the Networks to just let their viewers vote for who they want without their influence and for them to share the Logies between them each year. I don't think I've enjoyed a single coverage since 9 had them.

I'm kind of wondering if it was rigged. It doesn't make any sense.

Part of HAA's problem,as mentioned is the attention being focused on the wrong things.Things like Gardy and the Hugo stuff being promoted as if it's life changing when in fact it drags on an nobody cares. It's forgotten about 5 minutes later.

Then you have things like Irene's alcoholism returning. It had the potential to be a good storyline but they forgot it after 5 minutes for crap, which results in HAA being forgotten about and nowhere near the quality of Rush and PTTR.

No. They showed Charles when his name was read. It was there.

Well the reason why there aren't more pages on the Logies is that h&a only has two noms this year. and won neither. I knew Rafters would take that one out and yes its a fab show but even i thought the 15 noms it got was a bit extreme. Just about every actor (except for Nathan & Carbo) was nominated for an award. And yes they did all fabulous jobs but so did H&A actors/actresses. Neighbours only had 2 noms too. I wonder what will happen when Winners & Losers will be in that category....

I hate Karl. In case you couldn't tell!

The reason why it was wrong for Chrissie being there is cos she was nominated in the new talent award and I believe that a new talent person should not be automatcially up for a gold logie on the same year. Fine if she is nominated for a gold next year that would be a different story.

oh and h&a people have gotten the outstanding awards before.... are you forgetting Kate Ritchie & Ray Meaghar? Also I think Jess Tovey got silver too?

It's a shame H&A didn't do well at the Logies this year but I do feel it's in a 'dip period' at the minute and isn't very attractable to new viewers. I'm not really sure there was any stand out performer last year from H&A that I thought wow they really deserve to win. Then again I'm not an Aussi viewer so can't really judge it based on the other nominees.

And also unfortunately, a lot of the time people can win it that seem less deserving but seeing as the awards are categorised as 'most popular' - if a particular actor gets the most votes then they will be deemed most popular, irrespective of whether they actually can act or not. In my opinion a pure example of this is Esther Anderson being nominated for Gold was it last year? Sorry Esther fans but to me it seems clear that she was nominated for her looks and popularity and relationship with Angelo rather than any credible reason.

I may be wrong but I don't remember Jess Tovey ever winning a logie? I remember her being nominated for best new talent but she lost that to Amy. And she might have been nominated for best actress but I don't think she won....

Oh right. Well I knew she was nominated for something.... I did think both her & todd got something? I might be wrong. But yes Amy did get that award.

I think storylines like Irene's alcoholism are part of the problem... Because it was just an another stalker storyline. It wasn't a real alcoholism returning storyline, she was tricked back into drinking. The storyline also lead to a lot of overacted and unrealistic scenes. Still the viewers liked it, just because it was a storyline about Irene... and that gives the writers the impression that the viewers want such storylines if they are about the longtime actors on the show.. and that also lead to the horrible Penn/Alf storyline. Whenever Irene has a storyline she has a stalker (for instance Corey in 2005 season) or overacting about something (the Olivia storyline after chloes death). The storyline about Irene return to the bottle should have been a result of a tragedy or if she had been tempted after a rough period... Think about it if she had return to the bottle, as a result of Belles addiction or her death... would have been a storyline with better quality and could have brought some credit to the show.
