I do love angst..... but I need happy endings! . I can take as much angst along the way as I have too, because it makes interesting reading, but happy endings FTW! It was 8.30am which meant that Rob was going to wake up soon and as soon as she had actually seen her father looking really angry, she gulped and shook Angelo awake. He growled at him and made his way towards the bed. ‘Dad, don’t, the kids are asleep and I don’t want them to see or hear this’ she said urgently as she held onto Angelo’s hands under the covers. Awww, I love how she's still protecting the kids first. It's so beautiful. Nicole heard the door go and then turned to Angelo. ‘The children will be awake soon so I need you to go’ See?? Nicole said knowing that he needed her to say something. ‘Last night was a one off, it can’t happen again’ but she knew that wasn’t what she wanted, what she really wanted was for them to try again but the uncertainty was the dominant force that stopped her saying that to him or maybe her pride stopped her, it wasn’t easy to differentiate between the two emotions that were battling each other all the time. She didn’t know why she said that, it had felt like old times, like she had been reawaken inside and that the fire that led her to fall in love with him had remained. I can understand why she said it. She's probably very confused, and thinking about the children. I think it'd be perfectly natural for her initial reaction to be that it can't happen again. As soon as he closed the door, Rob appeared rubbing his eyes and holding his teddy. ‘Who was it?’ he asked ‘Who darling?’ ‘You were talking to someone’ Rob said as Nicole picked him up. She grimaced for a second and placed him on the couch. ‘There was no one there’ Nicole said’ Do you want toast or cereal?’ she asked deflecting the topic away from Angelo. Perfect. She's sheilding Rob from a situation he doesn't need to be faced with, at least until Nic sorts things out herself first. She didn’t even know if it actually meant anything, was she just holding onto residual happiness that they had before that night. She didn’t know how she truly felt about everything but she knew one thing, that the kids came first. I <3 her! and her love for the children. He kept going from why the hell would she let him back into her bed especially under his own roof to the fact that he actually physically assaulted her, he needed to drill it into Angelo’s head that he had to stay away from his family, there wasn’t anything that he wouldn’t do for his family. Roman should really be careful though. Angelo wont be best pleased at Roman's interference if it paints him badly, and I'm not sure Nicole would appreciate it, either, even if she knows he's only doing it because he loves her. ‘I am not going to stop seeing my family’ he said knowing that it would annoy Roman. He could imagine the look on Nicole’s face when she found out but Roman was not going to back down so Angelo justified to himself, he was not going to either. And it did annoy him, it annoyed so much that Roman threw his arm back and punched Angelo in the face. Yeh, punch him in the face, Roman, That'll help. He didn’t care that much about Roman, but he knew that the whole situation had just got a lot worse than it needed to be all because he couldn’t help but wind up Roman. I hope Nicole gives them both a good talking to. Something tells me this isn't going to impress her much. Another fabulous update, Zetti. So glad for that showdown. Even the ‘mini’ showdown didn’t put him off, he loved her and he wasn’t going to let Roman stop him from maybe reuniting with her. He's so happy! That's adorable She had spent the last year hating and missing Angelo at the same time. Nicely written! ‘Hey, can I come in?’ she asked playing with a strand of her and looking at him. He noticed the twinkle in her eyes, it was such a surprise to see it, and he hadn’t seen that in her for a very long time. Aww! Too cute! ‘Don’t please, it’s done, I wish with all my heart that I could take it back but I can’t, I can’t take it back, please don’t’ he begged. That's so beautifully heartbreakingly angsty! <3 Angelo telling her it's not her fault was so powerful, beautiful and sad. "I forgive you but I don't trust you yet" such an amazingly powerful thing for her to say. ‘Remember one thing Angelo, the ectopic pregnancy was not your fault, you need to stop hating the past and look to the future, we are always going to be bound together through the kids. I wouldn’t change that for the world.’ :(. OMG. That's so sad :'( ‘Me neither’ Nicole stood up but then she sat down again ‘Is that the reason though? Why you didn’t open up to me instead you turned to the drink?’ Angelo nodded ‘It was my way of shutting the world out’ ‘Just a mirroring image of the way I pushed you away’ Nicole said as she thought back. Tears fell but she wiped them away. This is what I meant when I said I love Angst. Something that's dramatic and honest, and sometimes sad, but they're talking it through together. That's what I love as a reader <3 ‘Same. I didn’t want to face up to the fact that I lost our baby, me, the one thing that we both wanted and I lost it’ Again that's so heartbreaking. Poor Nicole. Nicole said in a small voice as she relieved that moment when she had lost the baby, the pain and the misery that she had endured, she never truly got over it but she had to move on but then the most logical action is never the easiest action. Awww, and to be talking about it must be breaking their hearts all over again. :'( Nicole stood up. ‘I can’t make you forgive yourself but I forgive you, I don’t know if that is enough but please don’t hate yourself anymore. I don’t’ Angelo nodded. ‘I think that I need time, but thanks for saying you forgive me’ Again perfect. I love, love, love how you've addressed that, whilst she doesn't trust him yet, she forgives him, and he's having trouble forgiving himself. It's such an amazing conflict of emotions between them. Angelo nodded and then Nicole added something that always made her and him smile when they thought about it. ‘Focus on the good times, remember when we had Mia, the day our family grew’ Awwww <3 I'm so, so glad they've talked and, whilst it's a horrible situation, it's a fabulous and powerful twist to find out, as the reader, the reason Angelo turned to alcohol. I still don't think anything ever is an excuse for violence, but you've put a twist on the reason why that, for me personally, is enough to forgive Angelo myself. They must have both been so thrown and messed up by the experience, and no doubt feeling pretty animated during the whole experience. I'm so gutted for them both. I'm glad they're interacting again, and I think this chapter, in a way, proves that - although they've all meant well - Roman, Roo and any others involvement or attempts to keep them from interacting haven't helped at all. Nic and Angelo needed to talk, just the two of them. Now they've done that, I hope they can convince others to let them work through this between them. They don't need to tell them specifically what happened, but they need to do something to let them know that, whether they like it or not, they (Nic and Angelo) need to be able to deal with something between the two of them. No doubt such a huge, sad, experience is affecting not only them but Rob and Mia too, and Nic and Angelo are the ones that have to be strong for them. I do hope, somehow, the 4 of them can find stability as a family and get through the whole thing as best they can, even if Nic and Angelo don't necessarily reunite at some point. OMG, I practically wrote an essay. Sorry Zetti. This is what happens whe you post such amazing updates. I loved that chapter so much, and I'm now even more excited (if that's possible)to read the rest, even if there is more drama ahead.
