Great update,

Glad that both Charlie and the baby are ok!

Glad that Charlie told Angelo that its over between them! Don't think he would just accept it like that though, I sense this isn't over!

OMG!! Who flatlined??!! You're going to have a whole lot of Chax fans chasing you with burning torches and pitchforks if you killed Brax!!!!!

More soon please :D

Really really really great chapter! Pleased that both Charlie and the baby are ok - that's a relief! Glad that Charlie told Angelo that its over between them, it's about time she got out, hope she can finally enjoy life with Brax. OMG!! You couldn't just leave it at that, I prefer it was Angelo that was flatlined, as cruel as that may sound. Looking forward to more!!!

Firstly: thank you for the comments, I enjoy reading them and I like reading your thoughts on each one! :D

Secondly: A smallish chapter, simply because I want to get away from the hospital and everything so bare with me on that respect.....

Thirdly: Hope you enjoy! :D

Chapter 32

Charlie, Heath, Casey and Bianca sat in the waiting room of the hospital. Staring at the wall opposite them and refraining from making eye contact with anyone. The water machine was only supply of noise; that and the woman on the tannoy asking for a certain doctor or nurse to go to an area of the hospital.

One man had woken and survied their injuries sustained in the crowd fight, whilst one had died. None had been told who had died; Charlie made the many phone calls to people as she wanted the right people there to hear the news. No doctor or nurse had come to tell them if Brax had died or if Angelo had died. The waiting game was painful for Charlie, Heath and Casey as they just wanted to know if Brax was okay.

With each doctor that walked close to the door, Casey, Heath and Charlie felt their hearts sink; each thinking about how their life would be different if Brax was the one who had died....

Casey sat and watched his mum and Heath argue for the umpteenth time. Tears fell down his face uncontroably as his mum really laid into Heath for the state of their living now. Heath may have been Cheryl's favourite son, but there was no way he could provide for the family like Brax could. Brax's funeral was held one week after he had died, and all of the family had never fully accepted the fact that Brax was dead until the vicar said the final words: "Ashes to ashes, Dust to Dust". Cheryl finally cried for the son she never once showed emotion to; Heath and Casey both sought a comforting brotherly hug from each other as they watched people through the soil onto Brax's coffin. Casey soon realised that any chance of him having a decent future were levaing him faster and faster with each day that passed. He didn't blame Heath for not been able to cope, it wasn't Heath's fault. It was no ones fault. But that still didn't mean that Casey hated how things had turned out; Brax was dead and his family was now been torn apart.

Heath surrounded himself with boxes and boxes of beer. Some were empty, some were full and some had a good few bottles drank. His face covered in cuts and bruises from where he had fallen on the bottles in a state of drunkeness. Heath constanly found himself in trouble with the law; from been drunk on the beach to dodgy deals to try and earn a dollar or two. Beer seemed to give Heath the only escape from the reality that was around him; he hated been the head of the family and having to think about Casey and Cheryl more than he had to think of himself; he longed for the days when Brax would hit him round the head to knock some sense into him. He missed his older brother perfusily, and would have done anything and given anything to have him back.

Charlie sat in the rocking chair, soothing her baby as he fell asleep. She sobbed hard as she listened to the laughs coming from downstairs: It was Angelo, probably composing another business deal. He was just as cruel as ever and never helped out with his child; he never showed any interest in the doctors appointments, decorating the baby's room or going to the birthing classes. Charlie was completely alone and wishing that the baby was Brax's; that way she would still have a reminder of Brax with her always, and not just the memory of his sound, his touch and his smell. The baby looked too much like Angelo; only bigness of his eyes detracted the baby away from been 100% Angelo. Charlie was alone when she went into labour -Angelo never came to her when she called out to him- and alone when she delivered the baby. Charlie remembered vividly how she called out for Brax when she was in the delivery room, the midwives weren't a good enough substitute. Charlie took one last look at her son before he fell into a deep sleep, she placed a kiss on his forehead and placed him in his cot

Casey, Heath and Charlie all looked around once more, their eyes meeting each others and for the first time since they had all sat in the waiting room; they felt exactly the same about the same thing.

"He'll be alright" Heath smiled as he rose to his feet, walked across the room and sat beside Charlie "I think he knows how things would stuff up if I was left to take care of mum and Case" Heath added, thinking of his little premontion

"I can't help feeling that this was my fault" Charlie began "Angelo asked Brax to fight an-"

"But didn't you try and stop him from taking part?" Casey asked as he moved closer to Heath and Charlie, Bianca remained silent but placed her hand on Charlie's

"If that's true then its not your fault. Brax is stubborn and rarely listens to anyone" Heath smiled "besides, once we can see him we can tell him how stupid he was for not listening to you"

Charlie was about to speak once more but the door to the waiting room opened, revealing a doctor carrying something in his closed hand. Heath, Casey, Charlie and Bianca rose to their feet, not taking their eyes off the doctor who walked closer to the group

"Charlie Buckton?" the doctor said as he looked up to find the faces of distress looking back at him

"Yea?" Charlie said as she walked forward, her heart beating faster

"I'm terribly sorry, but we couldn't revive Angelo after he flat lined. He died seven minutes ago" The doctor handed Charlie the ring Angelo always wore "If you need to speak to someone we have pyschologists available to talk to-"

"No" Charlie held his ring close to her "I'm fine" Charlie nodded as a tear rolled down her face

"I am sorry for your loss" the doctor offered his condolences before placing his hand on hers "He went so quickly" he added before removing his hand from Charlie's hand and walking away. Casey and Heath looked to one another before they took a step forward, wanting to offer Charlie a sympathetic hug or smile; something that showed her that they were sorry.

"Charlie we-" Casey began

"Go see Brax. I'm sure he wants to see you" Charlie said, her voice near to a whisper as she fought back tears

"You sure?" Casey asked, hanging back as Heath was half way out of the door

"I'm sure Casey. You go, be with your brother" Charlie smiled at the sweet gesture Casey had shown her before she allowed the tears in her eyes to fall freely. Bianca wrapped her arms around Charlie and held her tight, not saying anything as Charlie cried into her shoulder.

Brax threw the car magazine he was reading onto the chair beside him and sighed heavily as bordem kicked in. He'd only been awake for ten minutes and already the four bare walls on his room were annoying him. Even though he could barely move without it hurting, he wanted to be discharged from the hospital. He had been told what injuries he had sustained -his face heavily bruised from Frankie and Angelo's fists been pounding into it, his arm in a splint to strengthen the weak muscles in the lower part of his arm, his brain only just recovered from the swelling- but he didn't care; he wanted to be out and at home. The fight happened nearly ten days ago and since then, he'd missed out on everything because of his coma.

He heard someone grab the handle to his door and he pushed himself up the bed, sitting up and watching, hoping it was a doctor about to walk in, or even the nurse who had been in to check on him only minutes before.

"Brax!" Casey smiled as he rushed over to his older brother

"Casey mate" Brax winced as Casey threw himself on Brax and hugged him tight "How are ya?"

"I thought you died" casey had a tear in his eye as he looked to Brax

"What? Nah, die at the hands of a dweeb like Angelo Rosetta" Brax laughed, unaware of what had happened "Anyway, what you doing here? I got told you'd gone home and were coming tomorrow" Brax looked to his two younger brothers, who looked away from Brax and to each other "What's going on?"

"Charlie called us. She told us that someone had flat lined but didn't know if it was you or-" Heath began, but couldn't bring himself to tell him Angelo had died

"Or who? Heath, come on man" Brax said as he looked to Heath

"Angeo" Heath finished "Angelo died not long ago"

"What?" Brax realised he had a part to play in his death "what from?"

"We don't know. The doc wont tell us, we aint family" Heath shrugged his shoulders

"Hows Charlie taking it?" Brax asked, rubbing his temple as he tried to process everything in his still-throbbing head

"Really well" Casey answered, not realising that Charlie was hiding her emotions, even though he stood right infront of her when he offered his condolences

"Oh right" Brax replied, looking to Heath who shook his head "How have things been at home anyway" Brax asked as he re-arranged himself on the bed, trying to get comfortable

"Alright" Heath replied as he folded his arms and placed his hands under his armpits "mum is sort of doing half and half in her room and the front room, I sold some more metal-"

"School is still boring" Casey continued the list

"Sounds about right eh" Brax laughed, but soon winced

"When do ya think you'll be out of this place?" Heath asked, placing what he visioned if Brax had died out of his head

"Dunno mate. The sooner the better though, hospitals aren't my thing" Brax replied

Charlie stared at the ring in her open hand. Her eyes were sore, red and puffy; she had slight relief from the burning when she closed her eyes to blink, with each blink her eyelids became heavier and hard to re-open. The ring which Angelo had worn on his left index finger was now staring back at Charlie.

"Its okay to cry for him Charlie" Bianca said as she stroked Charlie's back "He might not have been the worlds greatest bloke but he was a big part of your life"

"But that's the thing" Charlie began, her tone never changing and her eyes never leaving the ring "I shut myself away from him ages ago; I don' think I have anything to cry about for him. I hated him" Charlie shook her head "I just, I don't know how I should feel" Charlie broke her contact with the ring and turned to face Bianca "I feel nothing for him; no sense of loss, I don't want to mourn him, I don't want to remember him" a tear rolled down Charlie's face. Bianca knew she was conflicted; her hatred for Angelo and the loss were a hard combination. Bianca saw that Charlie was mouring Angelo's death with the tears, by ridding herself of his nasty ways by speaking about him; never saying anything, Bianca wrapped her arms around Charlie and once again, let her cry.

So glad it was Angelo who died! I can totally understand that Charlie feels she doesnt have anything to mourn, but as Bianca said he was a big part of her life, so maybe it's coming. So glad Brax is awake and hopefully it wont be long before he gets to go home. :)

Update soon :D
