I know this is all very rushed between Ben and Carly, but as I said earlier - it is sooooo typical of Carly, I believe it 100%. At the same time, there does seem to be a genuine difference between her and Ben when compared to all the other guys she's dated and I've just enjoyed seeing her happy for a change. Also really liked her final scene with Andrew in the diner, a nice touch. Also good to have Pippa back.
What do you mean by that? Just because Ben asked her to marry him doesn't make much difference.

No, they seem genuinely interested in being with each other - all the other 'relationships' have either been one sided on Carly's part or she didn't care much about the guy other than the superficial stuff.

I do think its very rushed, I'm not sure why they didn't just have Ben and her date for a few months before 'popping the question' - but the speed at which they got engaged has been acknowledged on screen by near enough every other character and as I said, it's very typical Imo for Carly to be swept up in the romance and accept, so I dont have a problem with the writing.

And as far as we know, it's the longest lasting marriage in the history of the show, featuring main characters.

(Though a more accurate list would probably be Alf/Ailsa, Michael/Pippa, Fisher/Marilyn as the only marriages to last over 3 years on the show)

Up to 494 now... Some really funny episodes and moments over the last couple of episodes. Also really nice Fletcher family scenes what with Pippa back and Sally and Tom's kitchen antics.

I think the show is feeling much more settled. A couple of months ago, from Morags departure and around the Simpsons introduction the writing and direction did feel a bit disjointed and haphazard. The characters at the moment are great, I suppose apart from Viv who I really don't feel much of anything for.

I feel like most of the 2000 season (the first half definitely) had a very similar feel to these sort of early years episodes. I also think, had so many of the original locations like the caravan park and the original diner hadn't been destroyed (which as far as I know they could have kept), how much more 'Home and Away' the current show would feel. The regular locations play a huge role in creating Summer Bay all throughout the first 12 or so years, its a real shame and quite frustrating that they stopped paying attention to these sort of details.

Really enjoying this week, one of the strongest for a while.

Grant is an awesome character, can't believe anyone would actually believe Vicki or even dooubt Grant for a second.

I think had they got rid of one it would have been OK and whilst 2000 was a very good year and it did take many steps to reinvent itself, I do think in the longterm getting rid of the Stewart House especially IMO was a poor move, as Alf hasn't really felt like he's had a home since Flynn died. (I think the poorer move was not having Alf move out when Brad moved in)

195 is brilliant - so funny! I also think this is what the current show misses dreadfully; with a character like Maz (being pretty much the only current character with a comic edge) they should be putting her into situations that could be quite devastating to some people just to see her reaction.

I'm aware that you guys overseas haven't been able to catch up due to the usual uploader being absent/ill - I'd been downloading from them too instead of recording with my digital tuner because my TV reception for 7TWO is so hit and miss recently its impossible to record an episode without it stalling or going out of sync.

Otherwise I'd be more than willing to record and upload myself. Just thought I'd throw that out there so you dont think I'm being selfish over here. I'm catching up with the poorer quality Youtube uploads because I was having withdrawals Haha I'm going to try again though and if I can record watchable/good quality episodes I'll start uploading them - no promises though, last time I tried I ended up with 30 minutes of a black screen and 'Weak Signal or No Reception'. :(
