Red Ranger 1 Posted October 9, 2011 Report Posted October 9, 2011 Finally caught up on 486 to 496 over the last week, so still a bit behind.I was definitely not expecting Cole Turner/John Grant/Christian Troy/Doctor Doom to propose to Carly that quickly, I thought they'd at least go out for a few weeks, rather than couple of dates and then engaged.I actually found Carly accepting more believable than Ben proposing in the first place;as alexx said, it's in character for her to be swept up in the romance.That said, I get the feeling that as a result of being in the army Ben hasn't really had a serious relationship before and now he's given that up he's latched onto the idea of marrying Carly because otherwise his future's a complete blank.It'll be interesting to see how it plays out, so far they've done a nice balance of people being pleased for them and concerned about the speed. Not sure what the point of the beauty contest storyline was or what point Bobby and Emma were trying to make."Why are we being judged on the way we look?"Er, because it's a beauty contest?Emma's speech was the equivalent of someone sprinting the first half of a race and getting out in front, then walking the rest of it while everyone carries on running and announcing people should be judged on their minds rather than how fast they can run.For a few seconds, I thought only Carly was going to applaud and everyone else was just going to roll their eyes, but turns out the folk of Summer Bay have the mentality of sheep. Don't think the school storyline is as simple as Don being wrong and Ed-from-BUGS being right.While Grant's ideas have merit, Don's the boss and has a duty to the students and he can't have some trendy teacher walking into the classroom and just doing whatever he likes.Grant running his ideas by Don first is what he should have been doing in the first place.Andrew's departutre felt a bit odd, he's hardly been in it for weeks so it felt like "Oh, Andrew's still around!Oh, Andrew's left." I actually feel a bit sorry for Martin, for once it seems as though he's been reluctantly dragged into someone else's scam.His first instinct seems to be to do the right thing but Adam always talks him out of it. I do rather like Viv and I like her and Steven's relationship so I'll be sorry to see her go and them break up.They seem so made fior each other it's a bit weird to think that Steven will be around in the mid-to-late '90s having completely forgotten about her.

Most Popular Character vote takes part at some point in 2012. I might leave it till later in the year to try and gain some votes for Lucinda and Hadyn.

I always looked back on her as an ok but not brilliant character, but didn't realise until this rerun of the early years just how enjoyable her character is - and Fiona Spence is such a good actress. Although it's great the writers keep bringing Morag back, they need to realise Celia could be just as popular and in a very different way. I'm sure that had Cornelia not shot back to fame on the Weakest Link, she'd probably have never been brought back into the show and the powers that be would never have realised how well liked she was. They need to give Celia the same chance. What do others think? Am I just living in the past? Or do you think there could be a place for Celia as an on/off guest like Morag?
alexx Posted October 9, 2011 Report Posted October 9, 2011 I couldn't agree with you more Beau and its high time she did come back considering how much she adores Summer Bay in the early years. There isn't any reason at all that she wouldn't return and every reason she should. Plus I think the character would slot back into the show perfectly because she is so particular and as you said, I'm sure she would/could be loved just as much as Morag for different reasons.

Celia is a wonderful character because she can be so funny without meaning to be. One of my favourite episodes was when she and Emma were stealing holy water from the church to get rid of the ghost at Morag's place and got caught by Reverend Flowers and he thought Celia was an alcoholic! Hee-hee. Maybe the more we write about Celia, they will bring her back? Do the writers or anyone from the show go on these boards? And didn't I read somewhere that Fiona Spence would love to play her again?

Yes Fiona is keen to reprise her role as Celia, at least she was not too long ago. I don't know if any writers or producer type people visit these boards. (Maybe a mod knows?) If they do visit, they probably don't read the early years discussions

They are uploading regularly again it seems so for those who don't know how to, PM me and I'll give you the link also a link to free 'download and keep' streaming videos.
