The thing that annoyed me about yesterdays episode was that Steven removed Bobby and Tom from the car they could of had spinal injuries. You should really only removed some from the car if its a matter of life and deaf ie if the car is on fire or is about to the catch fire. For such a smart guy Steven can do some pretty thoughtless things. As for Sally ordering Mullet around thats just typical Sally

RIP Tom Fletcher.

Poor Pippa. I guess people deal with grief their own way. I don't think Tom's death has hit Pippa yet.

I bet Tom was dead before Steve pulled him out of the car, he just didn't want to upset the girls.

Alf and Ailsa make great friends. Always there for you for when you need them. Gotta love them.

Ben's slowly winning me over, especially when he was cheeking out Sophie and Bobby for injuries. Which was sweet. I can tolerate him a lot more than Carly right now.

I don't like how Ben sux Carly are trying to take over the family and replace Tom. Ben conveniently drives by the accident scene, stops, and plays the hero by involving himself deeply in the Fletcher family's affairs. Also, look at the way he "comforts" Carly back at the Fletcher house by crawling all over her like a rash.

What do you mean "people deal with grief their own way"?? Does that mean people act in all sorts of different and strange ways instead of the usual way, like crying??

People really do cope with situations like this in their own way. When I was a little girl (9 years old, in 1987), my father died in a car accident. It was scarily similar to the way that Tom died. He was driving my two brothers home, and the car swerved, he had a heart attack and died at the scene. The police brought my brothers home, and when my mother was told, she just carried on as if nothing had happened. It's just the absolute shock. A couple of family friends came over (like Alf and Ailsa) to comfort her and we three kids, but she just acted as if nothing happened. About five hours later, she just broke down. Hardly anyone just starts crying straight away, the shock is more immediate than the grief in most cases, though of course the grief is far more permanent.

My heart was breaking over both episodes, and no doubt will be for next week's episodes as well. Watching Pippa be so excited about a kind of renewal in their love for each other, only to be tragically taken away. It really hit home for me too, because of personal experience. Great acting and great writing, IMO.

Tom wouldn'thave been breathing, I believe you then carefully move them to a position where you can try recuss, so that one was a case of lif and death. Though personally I'm not sure as to whether I'd rather die or spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair.

Many people do react differently to death. It also depends if the death was sudden or expected, and how close they were to the person who died. Pippa also reacts this way when

Michael dies

, and Alf points out she was the same with Tom. In both cases Sally is the one who finally gets Pippa to grieve.

This does seem to be a very consistent aspect of Pippa's character:She was much the same last year when Tom was believed dead after he and Alf went missing at sea.I remember afterwards she promised Sally she'd never be that way again and I thought "Yeah, unless there's another family crisis. So at least another three times."By 1997, she was going like that if one of the kids broke a nail or came home late...

In contrast when Sally goes missing on the river and is missing for a couple of weeks, Pippa doesn't display this behaviour. She finds it very hard to stay strong and almost gives in to the idea that Sally has died.

I recall a scene where Donald is talking to someone (I can't remember who, and I am sure this was much later) about Pippa where he says something along the lines of Michael's death was the last straw for Pippa, she no longer has the strength and spirit that she used to. I found that very sad.

Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking of.As I recall, it was a voiceover/diary entry when they were all sheltering from the latest natural disaster(tidal wave?), Justine had gone missing and nearly drowned and Donald reflected on how Pippa always seemed to assume the worst now because she was so used to it happening.

I guess I worded this wrong.

Anyway, Sally is fast growing up. I loved the scene when she finally got Pippa to cry over Tom. Such a sad scene.

Is Steven really dealing with Tom's death like he says he is?
