I do think the last couple of episodes have dipped slightly - I don't really have much to say. Bobby's gold and white shirt was a bit scary today! Haha

I totally agree with you (about the episodes, haven't seen Bobby's shirt yet  )

There's been a dip in episodes since Tom died and even the departure of Viv was not as emotionally charged as I thought it would be....

Though Maz's hi-jinx with Adam & Matt has been hilarious...

Seems like we'll have to wait for Carly's wedding for things to pick up a bit :(

Its not Viv's departure I've been missing. I don't miss her at all. These episodes of late are becoming boring. I hope we get more Marilyn/Adam and Matt scenes because they are hilarious together.

Like I said, it's just been literally the last couple of episodes that have dipped Imo Monday and Tuesday's were a bit... flat somehow. I don't think it's since Tom died at all really, I think the last few weeks have been really addictive and well written.

Imo Viv got a decent send off considering the character she was and how much impact she had on the show and other characters. It suited the character.

Viv's exit was suitable for her character and had plenty of emotion. The sudden appearance of her mother required some careful back-peddling from the writers - she had definately been referred to as dead both by Viv and by Rev. Newton in previous episodes, so really the only way round that was to say that he had lied. It wasn't quite believable, but I accepted it as a means to get on with the storyline and tie everything up.

Spent the last week or two slowly catching up on episodes 526 to 545.Not a bad run.I seem to sympathise with Carly a lot more than most people either on the show or on this forum:She tends to get labelled selfish, which is true but not as much as is often made out.I actually felt quite sorry for her getting her wedding postponed at the last minute when she'd been prepared to do it a lot earlier and Pippa had said it was fine.I was rather annoyed with Steven during all that, he seems to switch between being a decent guy and being an absolute jerk quite a lot at the moment. It was nice that Carly pretended to like Ben's bedroom suite since she could tell it meant a lot to him;maybe she is growing up although it is often two steps forward one step back with her.

I am sorry to see Viv go, perhaps more so than many of the other recent departures.I don't think nice characters are necessary a weakness on a show, you need them for the contrast and Viv provided as much drama as anyone. The problem is writers often get carried away with the more fiesty and argumentative characters and neglect the nicer ones, giving them hardly any storylines.I really liked her relationship with Steven and it's a shame that

even though it's not that long until he leaves(less than a year)he came back so often that I can't imagine an off screen reunion for them

.I believe that

Viv writes to him breaking up with him in a few weeks/months

.At least they gave them that one night together. It was good that they finally picked up on Tammy and gave them both a happy ending, although it's a slight shame we never actually saw Reverend Newton get his comeuppance. The sudden appearance of their mother two episodes before they left was a bit rushed but worked.Would have liked a bit more focus on her in her last episode but she got all the important farewells with Bobby, Don, Emma and Steven, more recent farewells should take note.
