1991 Episode Discussion

Thanks for filling me in!

maybe we were all a little more "sensitive" to seeing such things discussed on family tv back in 1991.

Back in 1991 I was 10. I was having a conversation with my husband only the other day about the whole "sexualisation of young teenagers" discussion being thrown around, and was trying to think whether it was like that or not when I was a teenager. Either it wasn't or I was totally oblivious to it being a child and only now with adult eyes do we perceive it like that? I thought of my fav childhood movie being grease - watching it as an adult is a far different experience than watching it as a child. Boy did I have no clue!

so Maybe we do have more open discussions about such things with children and the internet allowing more exposure. Maybe there is sexualisation of children nowadays when there wasnt before, and Coming back to my opening that maybe we were all more sensitive back then? But my initial thoughts were I was oblivious to it all as a child. ....?

^I think you only really have to compare TV shows, films, music video clips etc. to see how children or young teenagers are depicted as much more 'mature' sexually. To be honest I think it applies more to girls than it does to boys though. I don't think boys have changed all that much within the entertainment/modeling/film/tv industry - whereas girls are now more dressed up in a revealing way, music videos are more sexually charged and that 'innocence' seems to be in the minority.

Having said all of that, I've noticed that there is a new trend emerging with teenagers, in Australia anyway - and that is to dress like mums and dads from the early 90's! Have you seen the new 'fashion' - it's about big jumpers, floral leggings and stuff people looked at as 'daggy' back then. I like it though, its quirky and harks back to the time when the internet was unattainable to most people.

Did anyone notice Deiter Brummer in Fridays episode as on the school kids fighting Blake and Haydn!

Yes I did! But I don't believe he was actually playing Shane Parrish as such. Bit like when Rhys Sullivan was the vet that came to visit Carly & Ben a while back!

Yesterdays episode was good. I think Karen has rocks in her head she can't see Revhead for the low life he is. If he really loved her he wouldnt make her rob houses. Its my opinion he is just using her and will take off with the stolen money.

I did notice Dieter Brummer in yesterdays episode. I watched the credits afterwards and he played a different character obviously.

I have to say I'm excited about Sophie and David.

I've had a certain amount of sympathy for Karen up until now, but when Ailsa not only gave her $100 but also told Karen she would be supportive of her leaving school and would always be there for her, Karen's attitude to Ailsa was sickening. I felt really sorry for Ailsa.

Why are you excited about Sophie and David? Sophie is being such a slag, throwing herself at him like that, and pretending to be an adult all of a sudden. The whole David sux Sophie business stinks

(not to mention the fact that through a gross act of negligence and thoughtlessness, makes her pregnant before she is ready to leave school).

As for Karen, she too is young and stupid, and needs to be pulled into line, and I don't think

sending her to jail or

marking her with a criminal record for life (

for "murdering" David in what was an accident through her own stupidity

) is the answer. Her "love" of this Revhead creature, just like Sophie's "love" (correction — schoolgirl crush) for David, both needed to be STOPPED with whatever force necessary.

Going back to last week. Sorry. Did anyone notice that the school governor that told Fisher the news of him being moved was Richard Bellingham. Morag's ex husband.

So they have finally run out of actors now and just re-using previous ones!
