Holding the baby at arm’s length he walked over to Casey’s bedroom and wondered how he could knock with both hands full. He settled on kicking the door with his foot before swearing again as his bare toe connected with the hard wood.

“Go away!”

“Case, come on,”

“I’ve gone to school….”

LOL this bit made me laugh, good chapter :) Update soon!

Chapter Three

Heath looked around the house. He knew what he was looking for, just couldn’t see it amongst the pile of washing, baby stuff and the normal junk they seemed to accumulate. The house needed a good clear out and he decided that it was the youngest brother’s turn to do the housework. Of course, he always decided that whenever Brax started giving him that look that said it was cleaning time. Finally spotting what he was after in the corner of the room next to the table he strode over to it and picked it up, Casey’s school back pack. Perfect.

Spilling out the books and things into an untidy pile on the corner of the sofa he checked that it was empty before he put in one of his towels to pad it out and then a pile of soft baby blankets. Using the pocket on the front he added the necessary amount of baby paraphernalia, bottle, talc, wipes, nappies, more wipes, lotion and managed after a brief struggle to zip it up. Then he checked the inside and nodded as he reached for tape as he folded down the front flap a little and taped it in place. Hooking the straps over his shoulders he put the backpack on so that the straps went over his shoulders and the bag part was resting snuggly on his chest then he walked back into his bedroom and checked out his reflection in the mirror.

Not quite the perfect model but it would do.

Turning to where Rocco was gurgling in his crib he walked over to him and lifted him up tucking him inside the baby pouch he’d made. He moved around one of the baby blankets and made Rocco secure before zipping it up the sides just enough to make sure that Rocco would be kept secure and checking that his son was tucked in safe.

“Baby pouch, Braxton style kid, let’s go,” he said softly reaching out and taking Rocco’s hat and putting it on his son’s head before he headed out of the house and began walking along the beach towards the diner.

He had to stop a few times when bikini clad women came up to him to ‘ouh’ and ‘ahh’ over his cute son and smirked at the way Rocco was gurgling back at them. He was sure if his son could talk he would have asked for their numbers and the thought made him grin.

He was still smiling as he walked into the diner and over to the counter.

“Heath Braxton, what the devil do you think you are doing?”

Irene’s strident voice reached over to him and more importantly the delicate ears of his son.

“Keep it down Irene,” he murmured bouncing up and down as he settled Rocco.

“Whatever kind of contraption is that?” Irene moved over to him and asked her voice at a lower pitch. She reached out towards the bub before stopping as Heath gave her a look.

“It’s a baby carrier,” Heath muttered his voice low too, “just like one of those snooty ones that cost a fortune…”

Irene met his eyes and they clashed for seconds before the other woman backed down.

“How’s he doing?”

“He’s good,” Heath said proudly, “I need a feed, and maybe Bub could do with a bottle.”

The older women gave a small nod before disappearing around the corner.

“What would you like?”

“Coffee, burger, fries, some salad stuff, and… “ Heath paused to look at menu, “Yeah, make that two burgers,” he added and shot her a little boy grin before reaching in the front of the bag and taking out one of Rocco’s bottles. He handed it over to her and she nodded once and disappeared into the kitchen.

Heath smiled and moved over to a table where he took a seat being extra careful not to jostle his son. He looked down at him and smiled again as Rocco looked up at him. The bub was pretty cute.
