Bretto Posted August 27, 2014 Author Report Posted August 27, 2014 Episode 16 The next day (Thursday), Pippa and Ian arrive at the Carrington Ranges Local Court where they attend Tiffany’s trial. Pippa: I wonder what’s going to happen? Ian: I bet the brat will get off with a warning. Pippa: We’ll see. Bailiff: All rise for the honourable Judge Sandra Skinner. *Pippa and Ian stand up as Judge Skinner makes her way to the judges desk* Judge Skinner: You may be seated. *Pippa and Ian sit down* Judge Skinner: Now then, let’s get down to business. Tiffany Rongo, you have been charged with grievous bodily harm as well as shoplifting. How do you plead? Tiffany: Oh, I plead not guilty. Judge Skinner: I’d drop the sarcastic tone if I was you. *Tiffany sulks* Judge Skinner: I would like to call Lena Denkova to the stand. *Lena makes her way to the stand* Ian: Who’s that? Pippa: Tina’s mother. She’s testifying on her behalf because Tina is still recovering in hospital from the assault. Judge Skinner: Mrs Denkova, would you like to tell us what happened on the 9th of this month? Lena: This bitch whacked my daughter over the head with a baseball bat! *points at Tiffany* Tiffany: I should’ve killed her when I had the chance! Judge Skinner: ORDER! Miss Rongo, I suggest you be quiet before I‘ll place you in a cell! *to Lena* Go on, Mrs Denkova. Lena: My poor baby is still fighting for life in hospital because of what Tiffany did! All I want to know is…WHY?! Tiffany: The slag ditched me as I was shoplifting out of Clancy’s Supermarket! Lena: You are a pathetic excuse of a human being! *to Judge Skinner* May I go please? Judge Skinner: Thank you, Mrs Denkova. *Lena heads back to the dock* Judge Skinner: Next, I’d like to call Julie Callaghan to the stand. Pippa: *whispering to Ian* That was Matthew and Tiffany’s foster mother in the city. Ian: Oh. This should be good. (Meanwhile, Patricia is looking after the house and her domineering behaviour is starting to annoy Tiegan.) Patricia: I asked for my Nescafe to be hot, not cold! Tiegan: That’s what I did! Patricia: No, you made it cold! I swear, my girl, you are turning out like Philippa! *Tiegan becomes enraged!* Tiegan: Don’t you DARE talk that way about Pippa! She is a good woman that cares about us, more than I can say for an old battleaxe like you! Patricia: Who do you think you’re talking to, my girl?! In my day, teenagers respected their elders! Tiegan: Well, I don’t respect anyone that disrespects Pippa! So…BITE ME! *Patricia gasps in shock* Patricia: How dare you! Tiegan: How dare I? How dare I?! You know what… *Before Tiegan can do anything, Stephanie races downstairs* Stephanie: Come on, Tiegan. She’s not worth it. *Stephanie takes Tiegan out to the backyard* Tiegan: She is starting to really annoy me! Stephanie: I know, but we have to respect her because she is Ian’s mother. She’s leaving in a few days, so try and be nice to her until then. Tiegan: Oh okay. Stephanie: Come here sis. *Tiegan hugs Stephanie* Meanwhile, Matthew is spending time with Michelle at the youth centre. Matthew: Do you want to play a game of pool? Michelle: Of course I do. *Matthew and Michelle go over to the pool table* Matthew: Have you sorted things out with your best friends yet? Michelle: Julia and Tanya? Not yet, but I will. Matthew: When? Michelle: Soon I hope. *Michelle hits four balls at once* Matthew: Awesome shot, Michelle! Michelle: Thanks man. Now, it’s your turn. *winks at Matthew* *Matthew only hits two balls* Michelle: Not bad, Matt. Not bad. Matthew: Thanks. *smiles* *After they finish playing pool, Matthew and Michelle head outside for some fresh air* Matthew: That was a great game. Michelle: It sure was. *Matthew and Michelle look at each other and smile before they start to kiss* Matthew: I love you. Michelle: I love you, too. *they kiss again* (At the Carrington Ranges Local Court, Judge Skinner has called Pippa to the stand. It’s been three hours since the trial started.) Judge Skinner: Mrs Routledge, I understand that there was an incident yesterday between Miss Rongo and one of your foster daughters. Would you like to talk about it? Pippa: Yes I do. Tiffany Rongo attacked my foster daughter, Cherie Lancaster at the park. My other two foster daughters, Tiegan Brook and Stephanie Mboto informed me of what Tiffany had done. Judge Skinner: What did you do after that? Pippa: I confronted Tiffany and told her that I would be letting the court know what she did to a 12 year-old girl. Judge Skinner: I see. That’s all I need to know. Thank you Mrs Routledge. Pippa: I have more evidence against Tiffany, your honour. Judge Skinner: There’s no need. It makes perfect sense. You may step down. *Pippa heads back to where she was sitting with Ian* Judge Skinner: I shall return to deliver my verdict. Pippa: I wonder what happens now? Ian: We shall see, love. *A few minutes later, Judge Skinner returns to deliver her verdict* Judge Skinner: Tiffany Rongo, I hereby give you a 6 month suspended sentence for your crimes. I am also ordering you to stay away from Tina Denkova and her family as well as your previous foster families. We are adjourned! *Tiffany looks enraged as Judge Skinner bangs her gavel* Pippa: A 6 month suspended sentence?! Is that all?! Ian: At least she’s got a restraining order put on her. *Tiffany glares at Pippa and Ian* Tiffany: *thinking to herself* You destroyed my life, Pippa. Now, you’ll pay! NEXT TIME ON LIFE AFTER SUMMER BAY - Tiffany plots a heinous revenge attack on Pippa - Patricia is ordered to leave when she pushes Tiegan too far WHEN LIFE AFTER SUMMER BAY CONTINUES Quote

Bretto Posted September 6, 2014 Author Report Posted September 6, 2014 Episode 17 November 27, 1998 The following Friday, Patricia is minding the kids while Pippa and Ian are doing the grocery shopping. Patricia: Stephanie, I suggest you change out of that top. Right now! Stephanie: But I like it. Patricia: I said change it now. *Stephanie goes upstairs* Matthew: You didn’t have to talk to her like that, Nana Routledge. Patricia: You keep out of it, young man! *Matthew heads towards the front door* Patricia: Where are you going?! Matthew: To see Michelle! *slams the door behind him* Patricia: You kids have no manners these days. *to Cherie* You, turn that TV off! Cherie: But I’m watching Time Masters. *Patricia storms over and switches the TV off* Cherie: HEY! Patricia: Go do something else! *Cherie starts to cry as Tiegan comes downstairs* Tiegan: Cherie, what’s wrong? Cherie: She yelled at me! *points at Patricia* Patricia: You know what happens to liars, my girl?! Tiegan: You dried-up old prune! Patricia: Excuse me?! Tiegan: You heard me! Are you deaf or something?! Patricia: DON’T YOU DARE SPEAK TO ME IN THAT TONE! *Patricia grabs Tiegan’s arm* Tiegan: Let go of me! Patricia: OH, YOU’LL BE GETTING A LESSON IN RESPECT, MY GIRL! *At that moment, Pippa and Ian arrive home and see Patricia grabbing Tiegan* Pippa: Hey! Let go of her…RIGHT NOW! *Pippa pries Patricia off Tiegan* Ian: Mum, what the bloody hell are you doing?! Patricia: She was being cheeky. Ian: I’ll take care of this, Pip. You go upstairs and comfort Tiegan. Pippa: Come on sweetheart. Tiegan: You’re in for it now! *Pippa and Tiegan head upstairs* Ian: How…DARE…you! Patricia: But my darling boy… Ian: DON’T YOU “DARLING BOY” ME! I’VE HAD A GUTFUL OF YOUR ANTICS! FIRST, YOU CRITICISE PIPPA ABOUT HOW SHE DOES THE HOUSEWORK AND THEN YOU CRITICISE OUR FOSTER KIDS FOR HAVING A LIFE! THIS IS 1998, NOT 1948! Patricia: Who do you think you’re shouting at, Ian?! Ian: Right. Get out! Patricia: *shocked* You don’t mean that. Ian: The hell I don’t! I want you out immediately! *Ian storms outside leaving Patricia looking very upset* (Upstairs, Pippa and Tiegan are talking in her bedroom.) Pippa: Are you okay sweetheart? Tiegan: I hate her! I never want to see Nana Routledge again! Pippa: That’s okay. You and the kids don’t have to. *Tiegan starts to cry* Pippa: Oh Tiegan. I’m sorry. *Pippa hugs Tiegan* Tiegan: She pushed me too far. Pippa: I know. I know. At a motel not far from the Carrington Ranges, Tiffany is plotting a revenge attack against Pippa. Tiffany: Do I have everything I need? *Tiffany grabs a glass bottle and a jar of petrol from her bag* Tiffany: Yes, I do. *Tiffany writes down the date of when she’s going to attack Pippa* Tiffany: Oh, Pippa Routledge. You are going to be sorry that you ever messed with Tiffany Rongo. *smirks* NEXT TIME ON LIFE AFTER SUMMER BAY - Stephanie and Tiegan go to the city and catch up with friends - Pippa and Ian talk about Patricia - Ursula decides to buy the Carrington Café, but will she get it? Bretto Posted October 25, 2014 Author Report Posted October 25, 2014 Episode 18 The next morning (Saturday), Tiegan and Stephanie enter the kitchen to join the family for breakfast. Tiegan: Good morning. Pippa: Oh, good morning girls. What have you got planned for today? Stephanie: Would it be okay if Tiegan and I went to the city? We’ve been wanting to catch up with some friends for a while. Pippa: I don’t see why not. Tiegan: Thanks Pip. Ian: What time will you be back? Tiegan: We should be back tonight. If not, we’ll stay at the Sutherlands. Ian: Okay. What time are you leaving? Stephanie: We should be leaving right after breakfast. Pippa: How are you getting there? Stephanie: We’re taking the train. Matthew: I wish I could come, but I promised Michelle I’d take her to the movies. Cherie: And I’m going to the park with Jenny. Tiegan: Jenny? Ian: Cherie made a new friend last week. Her name is Jenny O’Sullivan. Stephanie: That’s nice. *When breakfast is over, Tiegan and Stephanie grab their bags* Tiegan: We’ll call you when we get there. Pippa: Stick together and stay safe. Stephanie: We will. Ian: Bye girls. Tiegan/Stephanie: Bye. *they leave* Matthew: I better head off too. Pippa: What time are you meeting Michelle? Matthew: Not until later, but I thought I’d pop over and see Ursula. Pippa: Okay, sweetheart. Matthew: You want to come to Ursula’s house, Cherie? Cherie: Sure. *Matthew and Cherie leave the house* Ian: I’m so proud that we’ve got such great foster kids. Pippa: Me too, Ian. Listen, I need to talk to you about your mother. Ian: Now, Pip. I am really angry with my mother at the way she treated Tiegan yesterday. I meant what I said to her and she’s no longer welcome here until she apologises to Tiegan and stops treating you like garbage! Pippa: But she’s staying at a motel. Ian: So a lumpy mattress won’t hurt her. Pippa: Ian… Ian: No, Pip. I’ve had enough of my mother. She brings most of the problems on herself! Pippa: Are you sure with your decision? Ian: Absolutely. *Ian and Pippa kiss* (Meanwhile, Tiegan and Stephanie are on the train bound for the city.) Stephanie: I can’t wait to see everyone. Tiegan: Same here. Stephanie: We may talk on the phone, but seeing them is a different story. Tiegan: I know. *When the train stops at Broadmeadow, Tiegan’s phone goes off* Tiegan: This’ll be Dani. *answers the phone* Hello? Oh, hey Dani. Yeah, Steph and I are on our way. We’re just at Broadmeadow station now, so we should be there around 2:30-3:00pm. Okay, cool. See you then. Bye. *hangs up the phone* Stephanie: What did Dani have to say? Tiegan: She’s really looking forward to seeing us. Apparently, a cousin of hers from Mildura is with them. He’s in town to catch up with some mates too. Stephanie: Awesome. Do you reckon he’s cute? Tiegan: We shall see. *smiles* *Stephanie and Tiegan start to laugh* (Later that day, Ursula is walking to the supermarket when she sees Mr Jarvis outside the Carrington Café.) Ursula: Excuse me? Mr Jarvis: Yes, Miss? Ursula: Are you the owner of the Carrington Café? Mr Jarvis: Yes, I am. Why do you ask? Ursula: I hear you’re selling up and I was thinking of buying it. Mr Jarvis: Really? Ursula: Yes, really. I want to keep the café’s 30 year legacy for another 20 years or so. *smiles* Mr Jarvis: Well, I did have a potential buyer in mind. *Ursula looks disappointed* Mr Jarvis: But how much are you willing to buy the Carrington Café? Ursula: $20,000. Mr Jarvis: How about $25,000? Ursula: $30,000! Mr Jarvis: Sold! *they shake hands* Ursula: Thank you so much, Mr Jarvis. I promise I won’t let you down. *smiles* *Mr Jarvis manages to smile back* That afternoon, Tiegan and Stephanie get off at Central railway station and start to look for the bus. Stephanie: We’re finally here in the city! Tiegan: I know right! Stephanie: I can’t wait to see Dani, Jade and Kirsty! Tiegan: Me too. I especially can’t wait to see their gorgeous cousin of theirs. *They see Dani Sutherland wave at them* Tiegan: Oh, there’s Dani. Dani: Tiegan! Steph! *Stephanie races over to Tiegan and hugs her* Stephanie: It’s so good to see you! Dani: Same here. Oh, come here Tiegz. *Tiegan and Dani hug* Tiegan: Where are Kirsty and Jade? Dani: They’re at home. *Suddenly, a guy with black hair and olive skin walks over to the girls* Tiegan: This must be your cousin. Dani: Girls, I’d like you to meet my cousin, Josh Anderson. He lives in Mildura. Josh: Hey. Dani: This is Stephanie Mboto and Tiegan Brook. *Josh and Stephanie shake hands* Stephanie: It is a pleasure to meet you, Josh. Josh: It’s great meeting you too, Stephanie. Tiegan: Can I give you a hug? Josh: Sure. Why not. *smiles* *Tiegan and Josh hug* Stephanie: Dani, how are we getting to your place? Dani: Josh’s car. Tiegan: Cool. *A few minutes later, Stephanie and Tiegan arrive at the Sutherland’s house* Josh: Here we are. Stephanie: I see your mother grew a rose garden. Dani: It’s nice, isn’t it? Tiegan: It sure is. *Kirsty and Jade come out* Kirsty: Tiegan! Stephanie! Stephanie: Hello, girls. It’s so great to see you. *hugs both of them* Jade: We’ve missed you. *Tiegan hugs the girls* Tiegan: We’ve missed you too. Stephanie: Are your parents home? Josh: Uncle Rhys and Aunty Shelley went to the supermarket. They said something about getting dinner. Tiegan: Which side of the family? Josh: My mother and Aunty Shelley are sisters. Tiegan: That’s cool. Jade: Well, don’t just stand there. Come inside. *They all enter the house* (Meanwhile, Pippa is cooking dinner when Cherie returns home from the park.) Cherie: I’m home. Pippa: Hello sweetheart. How was the park? Cherie: It was good. Jenny and I had a great time. Pippa: That’s nice. Cherie: What’s for dinner tonight? Pippa: Spaghetti. Cherie: Delicious! *Matthew walks in with Michelle* Matthew: Hey Pippa. Pippa: Hello, Matthew. *to Michelle* Hi, Michelle. Michelle: Hey Mrs Routledge. Matthew: Would it be okay if Michelle stayed for dinner? Pippa: Of course she can. Michelle: Thank you, Mrs Routledge. What’s on the menu tonight? Pippa: Spaghetti. Michelle: My favourite! *the phone rings* Ian: I’ll get that. *picks up the phone* Hello? Oh, hi Stephanie. Michelle: Do you need a hand, Mrs Routledge? Pippa: No, I’m quite all right. Thanks for offering, Michelle. Michelle: You’re welcome. Matthew: You are so cute. *Michelle blushes* Michelle: Oh, Matt. *giggles* *Ian hangs up the phone before walking over to Pippa* Ian: That was Stephanie. Her and Tiegan are staying over with the Sutherlands tonight. Pippa: Okay. Ian: Hi Michelle. Michelle: Hey Mr Routledge. Ian: Let’s sit down and wait for dinner. Cherie: Good idea. *they sit down at the table as Pippa continues to cook* Pippa: Dinner’s ready. *Pippa pours the spaghetti in bowls and gives them out* Pippa: Let’s eat. *everyone starts to eat the spaghetti* (Back in the city, Tiegan and Stephanie are talking to Josh.) Tiegan: Where do you live again? Josh: Mildura. Stephanie: Have you lived anywhere else? Josh: I used to live in a suburb named Erinsborough for three years. Tiegan: Where’s that? Josh: In Melbourne. My dad used to own a newsagency in the neighbouring suburb of Anson’s Corner before a truck destroyed it. The parents and my younger brother moved back to Mildura, while I stayed behind in Erinsborough until I finished school. I then returned to Mildura in April 1992 and finished Year 12 at my old high school, Mildura High. I then moved to Sydney in 1993 and lived with my older sister before I found my own place. I was there for about a year before I moved to Belmont and did another TAFE course. I then returned to Mildura in February 1995. Stephanie: Belmont? Is that near Newcastle? Josh: Yes. I lived with my mate, Aaron. Tiegan: Have you got a girlfriend? Josh: Yes, I do. Her name is Serena. In fact, we’re about to have our first child in July next year. *Tiegan looks shocked and annoyed* Stephanie: Congratulations. Josh: Thanks, Stephanie. *smiles* *Dani approaches them* Dani: Did you guys want to watch Scream? Stephanie: Yes please. Tiegan: I was thinking we could go out on the town. Dani: We could do that after dinner. *Jade and Kirsty enter the living room* Kirsty: Can we come too? Dani: NO! Jade: Please? Josh: Dani, let them come with us. Besides, they haven’t seen Tiegan and Stephanie in ages. Dani: *defeated* I suppose so. Jade/Kirsty: Yes! *Stephanie and Tiegan look at each other and smile* That night, Pippa and the family are watching TV when the phone rings again. Pippa: Who could that be? *answers the phone* Hello? Oh, hello sweetheart! Ian and I are doing well. When? Oh, that would be lovely. How long will you be staying? Oh, okay. Well, it’ll be great to see you. See you tomorrow, sweetheart. Bye. *hangs up* Ian: Who was that? Pippa: You won’t believe who that was, Ian? Ian: Who? Pippa: Sally! Ian: Oh, Sally. Is she coming to visit? Pippa: She’s actually staying here for a few days. She’s arriving tomorrow afternoon. Ian: I hope Tiegan and Stephanie will be home from the city by then. They adore Sally. Cherie: Who’s Sally? Pippa: One of my foster daughters, Cherie. Matthew: How old is she? Pippa: 19 turning 20 in February. Matthew: I can’t wait to meet her. Pippa: Oh, Ian. This is really exciting. I can’t wait to see Sally. Ian: Me too, love. Me too. Cherie: Well, I’m going to bed. Good night. Ian: Good night, sweetheart. Matthew: I might hit the hay too. It’s nearly 9:30. Pippa: Good night. *Cherie and Matthew head upstairs* Ian: Well love, let’s continue watching TV. *As Ian and Pippa sit down, the phone rings again* Ian: Who could that be now? Pippa: I’ll get it. *answers the phone* Hello? Oh, hi Miss Martin. I’m surprised you’re ringing here so late. Really? When can we expect him? Monday. How long will he be staying? Three weeks. Okay. I look forward to seeing him. Take care. Goodbye. *hangs up* Ian: What did Leanne want? Pippa: We’re getting a foster child. A 15 year-old boy named Jeremy Bryant. He’ll be with us for three weeks. Ian: Okay. We’ve been getting a lot of phone calls tonight. Pippa: We sure have. Ian: I love you, Pip. Pippa: I love you too, Ian. *Pippa and Ian hug before they start to kiss* NEXT TIME ON LIFE AFTER SUMMER BAY - Stephanie and Tiegan have a night of fun in the city - Sally arrives at the Routledge house - Cherie opens up to Pippa about her parents - Matthew and Michelle continue to grow closer WHEN LIFE AFTER SUMMER BAY CONTINUES Quick question: "What did you think of Dani, Jade, Kirsty and Josh appearing in this episode?" Bretto Posted November 9, 2014 Author Report Posted November 9, 2014 Episode 19 That night, Tiegan, Stephanie, Dani, Jade, Kirsty and Josh are in the city having fun. Dani: It’s so great that you guys are spending time with us. How long has it been? Tiegan: A few months. Jade: Mum wants to know if you guys would have lunch at the burger shop tomorrow. Stephanie: Sounds like a plan. Tiegz and I don’t have to leave until late tomorrow. Kirsty: What time are you getting the train? Tiegan: 3 o’clock. Jade: How long does it take to get from here to Carrington Ranges via train? Stephanie: Around five hours. Dani: Where is the Carrington Ranges located?! Tiegan: It’s near Tamworth. Josh: I’ll have to come there one day. Tiegan: You’ve never been there? Josh: No. I’m a guy that likes to try new things. Dani: Oh yeah, Josh. I still remember the story Aunt Donna told us about you making alcohol and the science lab blew up. Josh: Oh, that was back in Erinsborough. It was the day before a truck crashed into Dad’s newsagency. Stephanie: I’m sorry to hear that. Kirsty: It happened years ago, Stephanie. Jade and I were probably toddlers then. Dani: You and Jade were nearly 5 when that happened. *Josh looks at Stephanie* Josh: I swear I’ve seen your face before. Stephanie: You know, I was thinking the same thing. Josh: Do you know a girl named Sumara Fraser? Stephanie: Yes, I do! She used to go to my old high school when I was living in the city. Lovely girl. Josh: I know her too. I met her at TAFE. Tiegan: Wait! You guys know each other already?! Stephanie: I think I remember now! Were you at Alexis Thorpe’s 18th birthday party holding hands and kissing a girl with really long light brown hair? Josh: Was her hair in a ponytail? Stephanie: Yes. Josh: That’s my current girlfriend, Serena Hopkins. We’ve been together for five years. Stephanie: I think Sumara introduced me to you at the party. I think you wore a red jumper that night. Josh: I did. You have a good memory. Dani: Talk about a small world. Josh: *to Tiegan* So, where did you and Stephanie meet? Tiegan: We met two years ago. Steph moved to Summer Bay in January and I arrived in March. We’ve been best friends ever since. Josh: That’s nice. One of my best mates died a few years ago. Stephanie: What was his name? Josh: His name was Todd. Kirsty: It was a tough time for Josh. He considered this Todd guy as his brother. Dani: Kirsty, what would you know? Kirsty: I’m Josh’s cousin too, Dani. Duh! Jade: Let’s do something before it hits midnight. *Tiegan checks her watch* Tiegan: It’s only quarter to ten. We told Mr and Mrs Sutherland that we wouldn’t be back until later. Josh: That’s right, girls. Relax and go with the flow. *smiles* *The girls laugh* Tiegan: So, how is school going for all of you? Kirsty: Boring. I just wish I had a better teacher. The one I have is such a drag. Jade: Tell me about. Mrs McAllister is really annoying. Dani: Oh, stop whinging! I have annoying teachers at my high school. Do you hear me complaining? *Stephanie and Tiegan start to giggle* Stephanie: Why don’t we go to that video game arcade place on George Street? Josh: Timezone? Stephanie: That’s the one. Liam and I used to go there all the time. Josh: Liam? Tiegan: Liam Tanner, Steph’s boyfriend. He lives in Peru with his Mum. Josh: Ah. Dani: Are you still dating him? Stephanie: Yes, but a long-distance relationship isn’t easy. Tiegan: I felt the same way when Joey was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Dani: Your ex? Tiegan: Yeah. Kirsty: Guys, are we going to Timezone or just stand here in the street? Jade: Kirsty! Josh: Nah, Kirsty’s right. We should get a move on. Stephanie: Good idea. *Stephanie, Tiegan, Dani, Jade, Kirsty and Josh head to Timezone* (At 10:30pm, the gang are leaving Timezone) Tiegan: I think it’s safe to say that my record on Dance Dance Revolution is nice and secure! Josh: You had some pretty awesome moves, Tiegan. Tiegan: Thank you, Josh. Josh: The pleasure is mine. Dani: Josh! What will Serena say? Josh: Hey, I’m just being friendly. Dani: You’re too friendly for your own good, Josh. I don’t like it when people take advantage of you. Tiegan: *getting defensive* Excuse me, I don’t take advantage of anyone! Stephanie: Tiegz, Dani wasn’t having a go at you. Dani: I didn’t mean to upset you. If I did, I’m really sorry. Tiegan: No Dani, I’m sorry. You of all people should know how snappy I can be. It’s just that I have a hard time trusting people and dealing with their opinions. Dani: Because of…you know? *Tiegan nods* Tiegan: That and dealing with my learning difficulties. Josh: You have learning difficulties? Tiegan: Yes, I do. The only people that know are my foster family and my closest friends. Stephanie: I was the second person she told. Joey was the first. Jade: What kind of learning difficulties do you have, Tiegan? Tiegan: I’m analphabetic. Kirsty: What’s that? Tiegan: It means I’m unable to read and write. I’m slowly getting better at writing, but reading can still be a challenge. Kirsty: I’m sorry. Tiegan: Don’t be. I’m happy with the life I’ve got at the moment. Jade: That’s good. *smiles* Stephanie: *to Josh* So, when do you return to Mildura? Josh: I’m heading back on Monday. I’ve just been in the city catching up with my mates and spending time with my adorable cousins. Dani: What are you after, Josh? *laughs* Josh: Nothing. I’m just giving out a compliment. Stephanie: I compliment Tiegz all the time. Tiegan: I do the same for Steph. Not only are we best friends, but we’re foster sisters too. *Josh checks his watch* Josh: Let’s grab something to eat. I wonder if that coffee shop in Church Street is still open. Tiegan: Are you referring to the one with the graffiti all over the walls? Josh: Yeah, that’s the one. Stephanie: Tiegan and I go there all the time. Their caramel slices are to die for! Josh: I know right. They are so delicious! Kirsty: Are we going to this coffee shop or are we just going to stand here talking about food? Dani: Kirsty’s right. It’s nearly eleven. Josh: Well, we better make a move on. *Stephanie, Tiegan, Josh and the Sutherland girls start walking* Early the next morning (Sunday), Pippa gets out of bed to find Cherie watching TV in the living room. Pippa: Good morning, Cherie. You’re up nice and early. Cherie: I couldn’t sleep. *Pippa notices that something is up* Pippa: Sweetheart, is something wrong? Cherie: I don’t want to go back to my parents! I’d rather stay here permanently! Pippa: Did your parents do something to make you feel like this? Cherie: Mum and Dad are both drunks and before coming here, they used to beat me a lot. *Pippa looks shocked* Pippa: I know you’re only here temporary, but I could talk to Miss Martin from the department and arrange for you to stay here permanently. Cherie: You would do that for me? Pippa: Of course I would. You’re part of the family, Cherie. *Cherie smiles at Pippa before hugging her* Cherie: Thank you. Pippa: You’re welcome, sweetheart. (Back in the city, Tiegan and Stephanie are getting out of bed.) Stephanie: What time is it? Tiegan: 7:30. Stephanie: I just hope we haven’t missed breakfast. *The door knocks* Tiegan: Come in. *Shelley enters* Shelley: Girls, we’re just about to have breakfast. Stephanie: What’s on the menu today, Mrs Sutherland? Shelley: I’ve cooked some bacon and eggs. Tiegan: Sounds good. Come on, Steph. *Stephanie and Tiegan go to the dining room and sit down at the table with Dani, Jade, Kirsty and Josh* Josh: Good morning girls. *smiles* Stephanie: Good morning Josh and good morning girls. *smiles back* Tiegan: Morning everyone. Dani, Jade and Kirsty: *together* Good morning. Josh: What plans do we have today, Tiegan and Stephanie? Tiegan: We’re going back home this afternoon. Kirsty: That sucks. I wish you both could stay longer. Jade: I know. Shelley: Girls, Stephanie and Tiegan promised their foster family that they would return home this afternoon. Dani: Yeah. Kirsty: It’s just that we missed them so much. Jade: That’s right, Mum. Shelley: I know. *looks at Tiegan and Stephanie* Now remember, Mr Sutherland and I are more than happy to let you girls stay over anytime. Stephanie: Thanks, Mrs Sutherland. *smiles* *Rhys comes out from the living room* Rhys: Shelley, that was Pippa on the phone. Shelley: Did she want to talk to the Tiegan and Stephanie? Rhys: Yes, she did. *to Tiegan and Stephanie* Pippa said to call her back. Tiegan: Okay. We’ll do so after breakfast. Josh: Did you get to catch up with all your friends? Stephanie: Yeah, we did. Tiegan: It’s amazing so many people still go out on a Saturday night. Dani: Is there no nightlife in the Carrington Ranges? Stephanie: There’s the RSL and the bowling club. That’s about it. Dani: I can’t wait to start going clubbing. Rhys: *sternly* Not until you’re 18, young lady. *Dani scowls at Rhys* Shelley: Uh, Rhys? Rhys: Yes, love? Shelley: Shouldn’t you be opening the hamburger shop now? Rhys: You’re right. *to everyone* I’ll see you later, kids. Everyone: Bye. *Rhys leaves* Josh: Aunty Shelley, that was a great breakfast. Shelley: Thank you, Josh. Tiegan: Come on, Steph. Let’s call Pippa back. Stephanie: Sure. *they leave* (At home, Pippa and Ian are drinking coffee while Matthew and Cherie are having their breakfast when the phone rings.) Ian: I’ll get that. *Ian answers the phone* Ian: Hello? Oh, hello Tiegan. Yes, I’ll get her for you now. *to Pippa* It’s Tiegan. Pippa: Yes, I was expecting her to call back. *takes the phone from Ian* Hello sweetheart. Tiegan: *over the phone* Hi Pippa. What time did you want me and Steph to come home? Pippa: As soon as you can get the next train. Sweetheart, would you be able to get Stephanie to listen to what I want to tell you. It concerns both of you. Stephanie: *over the phone* Yes Pippa? Pippa: Hello Stephanie. I just want to inform you both that Sally will be coming over to stay for a few days. Tiegan: That’s great! I can’t wait to see Sal. Stephanie: When is she coming? Pippa: Sometime this afternoon. Listen girls, did you have any plans beforehand? Stephanie: No, we were only going to have lunch at Mr Sutherland’s burger shop and then get the train home. Pippa: Oh, it’s just that I wanted you girls to see your friends. Tiegan: We saw them all. Pippa: Okay then. I’ll see you both when you get home this afternoon. I love you both. Stephanie: I love you too, Pippa. Tiegan: Same here. Send our love to Ian, Matthew and Cherie. Pippa: Will do. Okay, bye. *hangs up the phone* Ian: What time are they coming home? Pippa: They’re leaving the city after lunch. Hopefully, they’ll be home before Sal gets here. Matthew: Pippa? Pippa: Yes sweetheart? Matthew: Would it be okay if I hung out with Michelle for a bit this morning? She asked me to hang out with her at the youth centre. Ian: I don’t see why not. Matthew: I should be home around one o’clock. Pippa: That’s fine, Matthew. Sal probably won’t be here until 4-4:30. Matthew: Thanks. *leaves the house* Ian: Got any plans today, Cherie? Cherie: No, I don’t. I think I might stay here and help Pippa make a cake for Sally. Pippa: Thanks sweetheart. *Cherie and Pippa hug* Cherie: What kind of cake does Sally like? Pippa: I think she likes chocolate cake the most. Cherie: Do we have any chocolate cake mix left? Pippa: Yes, we do. Cherie: Ian, you can help out too. Ian: You won’t see me near an oven. I can’t cook if my life depended on it. Pippa: You can still help out. Ian: I suppose I should. *sighs* *Ian joins Pippa and Cherie in the kitchen* At the youth centre, Matthew and Michelle are playing pool. Michelle: I must say you are getting better at this game, Matt. *smiles* Matthew: You think so babe? *winks at Michelle* Michelle: I don’t think so. I KNOW so. *Matthew laughs* Michelle: Go on. *Matthew manages to shoot two balls into the pockets* Matthew: Yes! Michelle: My turn. *Michelle aims the white ball and manages to only get one ball in the pocket* Michelle: Shoot! I came so close to getting the eight-ball! Matthew: I think I’ll take advantage of that! *smirks at Michelle before aiming the white ball* Michelle: *to herself* Miss it. Miss it. *Matthew gets the eight-ball into the pocket* Matthew: YES! Michelle: I guess you won. *smiles* Matthew: I sure did. *As Matthew and Michelle kiss, Julia and Tanya watch from across the room* Tanya: What a disgusting sight! Julia: Tanya! Tanya: I’m sorry, but it is. Michelle was meant to be MY friend! Julia: *in a deep voice* She’s my friend too. Tanya: That deep voice is really irritating me. Julia: Sor-ry! Tanya: Look at our former best friend smooching up to Matthew! We could’ve dated him. Julia: Tanya, grow up! *Tanya rolls her eyes as Julia goes over to Matthew and Michelle* Julia: Mind if I play pool with you guys? Michelle: Julia? Julia: I’m sorry for being bitchy. Are we still besties? Michelle: Of course we are. *Julia and Michelle hug* Michelle: Where’s Tanya? *Tanya storms out of the youth centre* Julia: She was here a second ago. *looks around to find that Tanya has gone* Michelle: Let’s not worry about her. She’ll come around when she’s ready. (In the city, Tiegan and Stephanie are having lunch at the Sutherlands hamburger shop.) Tiegan: I can’t wait for Sally to stay over. Stephanie: I always thought you didn’t like her. Tiegan: We clashed sometimes, but in the end she’s still my foster sister and I love her. Stephanie: She’s my foster sister too. Tiegan: I know. *they laugh* Stephanie: You know, I can’t wait to return home. I missed Pippa’s cooking. Tiegan: Mr Sutherland makes nice burgers. Stephanie: I wonder where Josh and the girls went off to? Rhys: I think I can help you with that. They’re going to see you off at the station. Tiegan: That’s awesome. *Tiegan and Stephanie finish their lunch* Stephanie: Well, I suppose we better head off. Tiegan: Thank you for letting us stay, Mr Sutherland. Rhys: No worries. You girls have a safe trip home. Stephanie: We will. *they leave and head for the Sutherland’s house* Tiegan: Let’s get our things. *As Tiegan and Stephanie load their bags in the boot of Josh’s car, Shelley prepares to say goodbye to them* Shelley: Have a safe trip back girls. Stephanie: Thank you for having us, Mrs Sutherland. Shelley: You girls are welcome to stay over anytime. Tiegan: You keep trying to help people, counsellor. *smiles* Shelley: Oh Tiegan. *laughs* *Tiegan hugs Shelley* Shelley: I will continue to do so. *to Stephanie* Come here you. *Stephanie and Shelley hug* Shelley: You are beautiful soul, Stephanie. In fact, you both are. Tiegan: Thank you, Mrs Sutherland. *smiles* *Stephanie and Tiegan get inside Josh’s car. Dani, Jade and Kirsty are already seated.* Shelley: Goodbye girls. Tiegan/Stephanie: Bye Mrs Sutherland. *Shelley waves at Tiegan and Stephanie as Josh drives them to the train station* (When the girls arrive at Central Station, the Sutherland girls and Josh decide to wait with them when the train comes.) Dani: We’re going to miss you so much. Tiegan: We can still talk on the phone, Dani. It’s not like Steph and I are moving to another country. Kirsty: She’s right. Josh: Well it was great catching up with you again, Stephanie. And it was nice meeting you, Tiegan. Tiegan: Likewise, Josh. *smiles* Jade: Glad you caught up with your friends? Stephanie: Of course we did. But spending time with you, Kirsty, Dani and Josh was the cherry on top of the sundae. Dani: Aw, thanks Stephanie. *they see the train make its way towards the platform* Stephanie: Well, this is it. Josh: See you around, Stephanie. *Stephanie hugs Josh* Stephanie: Bye Josh. Let us know when you arrive back in Mildura safe and sound. Josh: I will. *Tiegan hugs Josh* Tiegan: I’ll miss you, Josh. You’re so good to talk to. Good luck with fatherhood. Josh: Thank you, Tiegan. *smiles* *Dani, Jade and Kirsty look sad* Tiegan: Oh girls. Don’t be sad. Jade: I just wish you and Stephanie could stay longer. Stephanie: We’ll catch up again within a few weeks. That’s a promise. *Stephanie and Tiegan hug Dani, Jade and Kirsty* Kirsty: Take care. DanI: Promise to call. Tiegan: We will. *Tiegan and Stephanie enter the train and sit in the seats* Stephanie: Goodbye! Everyone: Goodbye! *Tiegan and Stephanie wave at Josh, Dani, Jade and Kirsty, who continue to wave at them as the train leaves the platform* Tiegan: Now, back home. Stephanie: It was fun catching up with everyone in the city again. Tiegan: It sure was. Marianne: Are you from the city too? *Tiegan and Stephanie look at a girl with long blonde hair aged in her late teens-early 20’s* Stephanie: Well, I’m from Somalia but I lived with a foster family in Brisbane before I came to Sydney where I lived with another foster family until 1996 when I moved to Summer Bay and met my best friend right here. *points at Tiegan* Marianne: That’s nice. *to Tiegan* What about you? Tiegan: What about me? Marianne: Where are you originally from? Tiegan: I‘m from Panania, but I was fostered by a family in the city for a few months before I returned to Summer Bay. Marianne: What do you mean? Tiegan: I was a crisis care foster child when I first arrived in Summer Bay. That meant I was only temporary until my former foster family in the city took me in. When Shelley Farrell, the woman that fostered me, died, I was sent to live in Summer Bay permanently. Marianne: Oh, I’m sorry. Stephanie: My father and older sister were killed in separate massacres in Somalia. Tiegan: As for my real parents, they can go jump! Marianne: Speaking of parents, I’m returning to their house today. Stephanie: Where do you live? Marianne: I live in Newcastle. Tiegan: That’s cool. We live in the Carrington Ranges. Marianne: So, what are your names? Stephanie: I’m Stephanie Mboto and this is Tiegan Brook. *points at Tiegan* Marianne: I’m Marianne. Tiegan: That’s a nice name. Marianne: Thank you. *When the train arrives at Broadmeadow Station, Marianne gets up* Marianne: Well, this is my stop. It was nice talking to you girls. Stephanie: It was great talking with you too, Marianne. Marianne: See ya. *waves at them before getting off the train* Tiegan: She reeked! Stephanie: Tiegz! Tiegan: I’m sorry. She’s a nice girl, but she could do with some soap! *Stephanie and Tiegan try hard not to laugh* Stephanie: Are you going to add her on Facey? Tiegan: Yeah, I will. That afternoon, Pippa and Cherie are putting the cake on the dining table when the door knocks. Pippa: She’s here. Oh, I’m so nervous. Ian: Just answer the door, love. Don’t be nervous. *Pippa opens the door to find Sally standing there with her suitcases* Sally: Pippa! Pippa: Oh, sweetheart! It’s so wonderful to see you. *they hug* Sally: I’ve missed you so much. Pippa: How is the living arrangement with Vinnie and Jesse going? Sally: It’s going good. *to Ian* Hello Ian. Ian: G’day Sal. It’s so great to see you, love. *they hug* Cherie: Hi Sally. Sally: You must be Cherie. Cherie: I sure am. Can I have a hug? Sally: Sure. *hugs Cherie* Ian: Matthew should be home soon. He’s at the youth centre. Sally: Matthew? Ian: He’s our other foster child. He came with Tiffany. I don’t know if you heard about Tiffany Rongo. Sally: Pippa told me about her on the phone. What a spiteful cow! Pippa: Well, she’s no longer our responsibility. Sally: Good. *Matthew arrives home* Matthew: Hey. *notices Sally* Sally, right? Sally: That’s me. You must be Matthew. Matthew: That’s right. Sally: Where are Steph and Tiegan? Pippa: They should be home later this arvo. They went to the city last night and stayed with friends. Sally: Oh okay. Ian: We weren’t expecting you until 4-4:30, love. Did you get an early bus or something? Sally: Yes. I wanted to come early and see my family. *smiles* Pippa: It’s good to see you, sweetheart. Ian: How long will you be staying? Sally: A few days. Pippa: Would you be okay sharing with Cherie? Stephanie and Tiegan have their own room. Sally: That’s fine. Cherie: I know we’ll get along. *Sally smiles at Cherie* (Stephanie and Tiegan arrive back at the Carrington Ranges at 3:30pm.) Tiegan: It’s so great to be home again. Stephanie: That was a long train ride, but at least we kept ourselves occupied on the train. Tiegan: Yeah, thanks for lending me your walkman. Stephanie: No worries. We’re best friends and foster sisters after all. *Tiegan and Stephanie put their arms around each other* Tiegan: Thanks, Steph. Let’s get the bus. *A few minutes later, Stephanie and Tiegan get off the bus and walk to their house* Stephanie: I can’t wait to see Sally. Tiegan: Me too. *Tiegan opens the door* Stephanie: We’re back. Pippa: Oh hello girls. *hugs both Tiegan and Stephanie* Ian: How was the city? Tiegan: It was good. We caught up with everyone and went to places we both wanted to see. Isn’t that right, Steph? Stephanie: That’s right, Tiegz. Tiegan: Where’s Sal? Pippa: She just went to the bathroom. Stephanie: I’m so glad she’s here. I haven’t seen her since Tiegan and I moved here. *Sally comes downstairs* Sally: Stephanie! Tiegan! Tiegan: Sally, come give me a hug. I have missed you SO much! *Sally and Tiegan hug* Sally: I have missed you both too. Stephanie: Where’s my hug, Sally? Sally: It‘s right here. *Sally and Stephanie hug* Stephanie: How long will you be staying here? Sally: A few days. Tiegan: That’s cool! Steph and I will show you all the landmarks of the Carrington Ranges. Stephanie: Have we missed out on anything while Tiegz and I were in the city? Pippa: Nothing much except that tomorrow, we’ll be getting a temporary foster child for three weeks. Sally: What’s his name? Pippa: Jeremy Bryant, he’s 15. Tiegan: We should throw him a welcoming party. Ian: We’ll discuss that at dinner tonight. *smiles* Sally: Awesome. What are we having? Pippa: Roast chicken and veggies. Sally: My favourite. Tiegan: Sounds yum. (Before dinner, Sally is unpacking her things when Tiegan walks in.) Tiegan: So, how are things in the Bay? How’s Vinnie? *Sally looks sad* Tiegan: Sal? Sally: Vinnie and I have been fighting a lot lately. That’s part of the reason why I’m staying here. Tiegan: What’s been happening? Sally: I saw him kiss Gypsy! Tiegan: Gypsy Nash?! Oh, that little cow! Sally: Don’t say anything to Pippa and Ian. You can tell Stephanie, but not them. Tiegan: Okay. You have my word. *Sally sighs* Tiegan: Come here. *Tiegan puts her arm around Sally* NEXT TIME ON LIFE AFTER SUMMER BAY - Sally tells Stephanie about Vinnie kissing Gypsy - Pippa and Ian give Cherie some good news - Tiegan has a go at Gypsy on the phone WHEN LIFE AFTER SUMMER BAY CONTINUES Quote
