Thank God Dex finished higher than Brax. And by a whole 8 points.

Sally has more points than two years ago which either means 7two repeats have helped her (I doubt it) or the current bunch of characters (excluding Dex) are so dire it's not hard to look at Sally's 'era' fondly.

I'm really glad I voted. (First time ever)

One thing to note is about 10-15 more people voted this time than in 2010, and whilst it's not quite on the number of 2006 and 2008, which in the first instance was during a period when the 7 Site didn't have a forum and 2008 ran for a few months to mark the 20th anniversary, it was more than 2010.

Thanks a lot for the list Ryan and Dan!!! the list is an interesting reading and a great reminder of a lot of the show's different characters through the years.

The three on the top. Well Sally is the best of them by far. Hm but I'm wondering if she had been on the top if she was still around. She wasn't that popular in 2004... And Morag is more popular now than in the years she was more in it. And Leah is less popular after a string of storylines from 2010 and onwards than she was in 2010 after two years of serving coffee. Is abscence making the character more popular, and making people wanting them to be more around instead of having a lot of storylines which make some people dislike the character? In many ways I wish it was Alf or Irene on the top because they are still in it.

Dex, well I've said enough about him. Darryl well he has not been in the show for that long over here.. but I don't like him at all. I actually think that so far for me (2011 season) is Heath the strongest Braxton character and the most intriguing one. Even if he is a bad boy, he still shows some glimpse of softer sides and show all different kind of emotions. I think that he is the most well played Braxton - by far. I think it is strange that Darryl is so popular among australian and British fans. He is not very believable and is not so interesting at all.

Well. Not surprised that Brax finished highly, since he does have his fans even though, as is often the case with these popular characters, I can't see it.Wonder how things will pan out in the next two years. Unless he's still around doing his morally questionable thing then, he'll probably slide down to, er, where Aden is.Frankly, if you put the Braxtons in reverse order you'd get where I'd place them. And that includes Darcy with her single point.

Am surprised to see Dexter that high, I know he's got his fans but didn't think they were that numerous.I'd like to think they're voting for the character he used to be but sadly his popularity seemed to increase when his soul function seemed to be making out with his black hole of a girlfriend while semi-naked twice a week.(Sometimes, fans get the show they deserve...)Still, I believe we're about to enter a new phase for the character at UK pace.Shame it's a phase that still includes April.

And Sally, the last of my votes, in number one!Every time I expect her to slide down but, four years on from her departure when there's a fair number of fans who've probably never seen her era, she's still top of the totem poll. It's hard to imagine her pint-sized 7Two self is increasing her popularity, even if it does show Kate Ritchie had the part nailed from a young age.I can only assume that either the old guard are very loyal or there's people who stumbled across the 7Two repeats desperately trawling the net for the back catalogue of episodes.

I think, though I might be wrong, that a large number of long-term fans are Sally fans and vice-versa, so every time a vote comes around, they're still here and they still remain loyal to Sally and they still vote. Whereas, fans of the current hot-things, those characters that stay a couple of years on the show are more transient and so when they depart, they can sometimes find their interest wanes in the show, and ultimately are only really active members for a couple of years.

Dex and April, whilst a little nauseating, are my favourite thing about the current show (UK pace; Ruby cut the brakes on Indi's car last night to give you an idea of where we are in this particular hemisphere!) so I'm glad he's hit 2nd.

Genuinely shocked, and a bit pissed off actually, to find Daryl weigh in 3rd. Lucy Addario's gonna be VERY happy with that result. Maybe she's not as ignorant as we've credited her for, and the fanbase really does want the River Boys after all?

What's more interesting is that only 2 of the Top 5 are on the current show, at least at UK pace (I should point out I actually don't know who, if anyone, dies in Event Week whenever that's happening on C5, presumably imminently?)

It's also probably worth reminding Australian viewers that British fans had the chance to watch Sally grow from 8 to 28 over the period of a month or so during late July and August, as we got treated to a kind of "best-of" run whilst the main show was off-air so we didn't catch up with you lot! I'd be interested to see the proportion of voting from UK and Oz to see what sort of influence the 5* repeats (which spanned the entire run of the show) had compared to the 7Two repeats (which are re-running the show in its entirety and are therefore only just into the 90s!)

Pointless Trivia: Angie Russell is the most popular dead character of all time, coming 4th in 2004. Charlie Buckton is second coming 5th in 2012, although she polled 3rd in 2010 whilst still alive.

:) I knew Sally would make number one. It's nice to see that she is still loved. I agree with Ryan, particularly regarding Brax, Charlie, Dex etc. of course a poll in 2012 is going to ensure the most popular characters of 2012 are right up there.

Btw thanks for the low down on the point system, I thought that was the case.

I believe Event Week is next week in the UK.I also believe

  Reveal hidden contents

no-one particularly important dies, certainly not anyone on this list

.But I've just about managed to avoid finding out every single detail.

I have to say Dexter and April are one of my least favourite things about the show at the moment, to the point I cringe whenever I realise they're in an episode.I'm even enjoying the Braxtons more, thanks to some good work on Heath and Casey, who are starting to realise that doing the right thing isn't easy but is the right thing.Dexter and April have always felt like a very forced couple and now seem like a very shallow one as well:Dexter's obviously gone for looks over personality because April doesn't actually have a personality. There's been two much collateral damage(April cheating on her boyfriend, Dexter dumping his girlfriend in a cowardly manner)for me to buy into the "sweet and innocent" thing and the show seems to have resorted to Irene making grandiose statements that quite clearly aren't true to big them up("This is the guy you've been crazy about for years"...Er, what?).
