c120701 Posted January 1, 2013 Report Posted January 1, 2013 Did anyone see Peter Kay and Gary Barlow on ITV singing the theme song? Brilliant!
Chris J Posted January 2, 2013 Report Posted January 2, 2013 Well that's slightly surreal! By the looks of it (i.e. by the looks of a quick YouTube search) they've performed it at a couple of Kay's recent tour dates.
rachel1990 Posted January 2, 2013 Report Posted January 2, 2013 Please let this be the new theme song. Would bring in millions of viewers in the uk
beau_t Posted January 2, 2013 Report Posted January 2, 2013 Just shows how well known (and much loved) the song remains. And the 7 network act like it's something to be burried and ashamed of.
Light of the Bay Posted January 2, 2013 Report Posted January 2, 2013 ^ I know, I don't understand what their problem is. I think someone here on the board recently mentioned they contacted Mike Perjanik about the status of the H&A theme tune and he said that people should sign a petition and send it to the 7 Network?!
cadyctslover Posted January 2, 2013 Report Posted January 2, 2013 ^ That's exactly what I was going to say beau_t. The fact that so many people remember those words is something they should be proud of. Why on earth did they decided to destroy such an important part of the show's heritage? I honestly believe reinstating the iconic opening theme would improve viewing figures because so many people enjoy the song, regardless of their opinion of the show. So if they catch it, and enjoy it, they might be encouraged to keep watching.
c120701 Posted January 2, 2013 Report Posted January 2, 2013 Thanks for the mention in the article, Chris. Peter Kay performed it before with Paul McCartney so it's obviously a favourite for him.
alexx Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 I think the daft thing is that pretty much every other Aussie you pass in the street could sing the H&A theme song too or at least sing the chorus. It's obviously a song that people like here and overseas and I'd say most people would want it to return. It's just those pretentious big wigs at Seven wanting to have all of there dramas fit the same mold, or copy an American format instead of doing their own thing.
CaptainHulk Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 We want the Theme song back! A Standard Boy/Girl duet (not the Dolahenty/Stokes 2009 mess, which still plays over the UK end credits) and a full 1-min closing theme, if not, we'll settle for 50 secs!
Light of the Bay Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 Yes it seems like a lot of fans would like to see a return of the theme song. I think a 30 second theme song would work.
