Most of the songs played on the Diner Jukebox that I remember were not very well known outside Australia. I never heard many UK chart songs played in the Diner. Same for The Waterhole in that cul de sac soap in Melbourne.Just the famous Edwyn Collins song.

True, and most of the songs were played on both shows. A lot of them were very catchy and stuck in my head. The H&A soundtracks in the 90s provided some of them, and thanks to the Internet I've managed to track down and download / buy a lot more. It gives a good nostalgic kick to listen to them all. I also became a big fan of My Friend the Chocolate Cake and have all their albums. Never would have discovered them if it hadn't been for the shows.

^Yeah there was a fake version of Madonna's "Vogue" as well in the early days of the Diner.

Some of us may dub it  "Vague"

Incidentally, Neighbours had their own stripped down version that played in the early 2000s. Butchered just enough not to have pay royalties :P

I Remember by The Badloves?

Ah thank you Old H&A Fan. Always appreciate this info. Being from uk there's so many I would recognise but would never be able to listen to the full song if it wasn't for this forum.

"Right before My Eyes" by Patti Day. Though, I'm more inclined to believe it was the 1990  Lonnie Gordon version due numerous relistens of both versions on Youtube and finding the latter version being a wee bit faster. If I only I had decent filtering software that could separate the dialogue from the music in ep 1731...
