Ukfan2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 I have no idea why, I mean I think Dan is better looking and better at acting lol but it's a matter of taste I guess. I think a lot of people like "chax" and also because he is the main Braxton if you like, leader, is pretty much centre to a lot of stories? I thought Lisa and Dan were fantastic with the Rocco stuff and it was a shame neither were nominated. I think you're right Dan was pretty much in the shadows when they came into the show. And although he has came on loads and has gained a lot of support (he has a lot of twitter followers) he will always be second to Steve. I don't think Dan's opinions on the Logies has anything to do with Steve, I think Dan is putting himself down rather than anyone else. How serious are the Logies taken? I seen a lot of jokey/negative tweets but not sure what feedback was like elsewhere
~Lynd~ Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 Getting all up on Dan because he doesn't say or do what you want him to is a little ridiculous.Especially when it comes to acting. You can't seriously judge the type of actor someone is by their twitter.I saw his tweet about being annoyed Joel was nominated and he had every right to be.Joel doesn't act and he won an acting talent award. Also saying he didn't congratulate Steve is a little silly.Steve doesn't have twitter so how do you know?Like Steve if you like but there is no need to trash others to do it. Not like the logies aren't a joke these days anyway. The majority of voters are teens.
Fyn3 Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 To me it seems that he isn't really a fan of the Logies in general. Which is fine. Surely he is allowed that opinion? Also getting on at him because he didn't congratulate Steve on twitter. Surely that would have been done in person seeing as Steve doesn't even have twitter. Have you met Steve and Dan? Yes I agree that he is entitled to an opinion about the Logies. I just personally think that by him dismissing the Logies in public as a non event after he hadn't been nominated for an award came across as a bit bitter, especially after he had spent the months leading up to the announcement promoting the voting of himself. If he had had this opinion of the Logies the whole time it would not have come across as so sulky in my opinion. I'm sure he did congratulate Steve in person and I don't think Dan needed to congratulate him on twitter too, I was more trying to say that his general attitude came across as quite bad in my opinion. I have only been lucky enough to meet (if you can call it that) them once when I visited Palm Beach earlier this year. They were both very lovely and patient towards the fans. They day that I was there, Steve stayed behind until he had a photo and a chat with every single person that was waiting. Also saying he didn't congratulate Steve is a little silly.Steve doesn't have twitter so how do you know? I didn't actually say that and wasn't meaning to imply that either. I have no doubt that he did congratulate Steve. I was more referring to his threat to boycott the event after he didn't receive a nomination and other such tweets. Sorry I didnt mean to offend, I was just making a comment that he painted himself in a very unfavourable light to me after this event and I have personally lost a lot of respect for him. His attitude seems to be in stark contrast to the rest of the cast. There were many great actors that did not get nominated, including many on Home and Away. Both Dex and Casey had very big stories last year and displayed some great acting and while no doubt disappointed at missing out, both of them came across as so supportive of the nominations the show did receive. As did Lisa Gormley and all the female cast who also missed out. I just think it was a shame that Dan didn't.
totally Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 I think Dan is better, I think Linc is also better but I wouldn't say Steve is rubbish, they are all really good imo. However this award was about "Most popular" which Steve clearly is. I have seen a lot of Steve fans slate Dan about his behaviour on Twitter. To me it seems that he isn't really a fan of the Logies in general. Which is fine. Surely he is allowed that opinion? He also seems quite sensitive maybe, he knows while they are on the show together Steve will be on top ahead of Dan so when people saying they hope he wins that is him just being honest when he says he doubts it? Also getting on at him because he didn't congratulate Steve on twitter. Surely that would have been done in person seeing as Steve doesn't even have twitter. Have you met Steve and Dan? But why is he the most popular? That was my question. Because I am so naive so I thought that people liked the most believable actor, even the younger fans, especially when they both are good looking.... Dan Ewing has the right to be a bit tired of everything, when he's always in Steve's and also Lincoln's shadow, despite doing the best effort of portraying his character. Can I try to explain why I also think that Heath is less popular than Brax and always will be? First I want to say that I used to like Brax more, but that was a long time ago. I am really enjoying Heath's character and I think Dan is way better actor than Steve is. Dan potrays every emotion so much better (especially after Rocco died, he nailed it... on the contrary Brax after Charlie's death was a bit blah imo). First of all Brax came to the show as the leader. The one who was always able to stay out of jail when Heath couldn't. That makes him the smart one. He got his brother out of it. That makes him the hero. Add to that the 'sizzling' relationship with Charlie. That makes him the romantic and passionate one. Now Heath is in a committed relationship with Bianca, without the constant breaking up. But Bianca and Heath will always come second to Charlie and Brax. Even though I (and I think others as well) have way more respect for the Bianca and Heath relationship. It is mature, loving, caring, stable and it works in two way. Charlie and Brax were almost none of those thing. Okay, you could say they loved each other, but they were still 'on a break' for most of the time. And he slept with two other women during those off times. This is no place to compare these two relationships and it is not useful to do that either, I know. I am just trying to make my point that Brax was the first to grow up (or at least to claim he wanted to), he was the first to be in a relationship and he was the one who looked after the others. That makes him so popular. Again, I think Dan is a better actor. But this was a poll for 'most popular actor' and that is and will always be Steve. Didn't Dan once say he auditioned for the Brax-part first? If that is the case, it would be normal that he sometimes wonders how it would have been if he got that role. But no harm done, I think he is blowing off some steam on Twitter. That is understandable, at least he did not start a personal hate campaign against his (former) employer. Okay, I am going to sound really shallow now, but Steve is not as hot as he used to be in my opinion. He used to be so fit, now he looks a bit chubby, don't get me wrong, he is not fat or anything, just not as fit as he was 2 years ago. Dan, on the other hand, still has those abs . Dan works out regularly, Steve does not (he says so himself). And I can see the difference. They both would like to make it in Hollywood. I am actually thinking that Dan maybe has a better shot, he has the body for it. Steve needs to get himself back in shape if he wants to succeed there. Hollywood is even more about looks. Okay, maybe Tom Cruise doesn't look all that muscled, but all the new ones have to. Again, that is only my opinion, feel free to disagree.
Ukfan2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 Fyn3 - sorry I really haven't mastered how to cut some quotes down yet, always mess up lol. That's cool you have met them even if briefly. Have heard a lot about how nice they both are when people meet them Where did he threaten to boycott the show? What I have learend from Dan's twitter is that sometimes he has banter or whatever you want to call it, some of his replies about Logies were different. He would reply to some saying how he was looking forward to it. And it was good for the show
Fyn3 Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 I know what you mean about the quoting Ukfan2013. It took me a lot of trial and error to get the hang of it too! I saw him write a tweet around the time the nominations came out that he was going to give the Logies a miss this year. From memory it was in reply to a suit company offering to dress him for the event. I'm glad that he changed his mind about this (or maybe the bosses of the show changed it for him?) I agree that he seemed to become a lot more positive about the event once the initial shock of not getting nominated wore off.
Ukfan2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 lol glad I'm not alone with quoting Yeah I thought that may have been the tweet you were talking about. I thought that just meant he was going to give the company a miss rather than the logies.
Fyn3 Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 lol glad I'm not alone with quoting Yeah I thought that may have been the tweet you were talking about. I thought that just meant he was going to give the company a miss rather than the logies. Definitely not alone! I read it to mean that he wanted to express his disappointment by not attending, but I could be wrong! Can I try to explain why I also think that Heath is less popular than Brax and always will be? First of all Brax came to the show as the leader. The one who was always able to stay out of jail when Heath couldn't. That makes him the smart one. He got his brother out of it. That makes him the hero. Add to that the 'sizzling' relationship with Charlie. That makes him the romantic and passionate one. I agree with many of your points. I also think that while both Braxton's are "bad boys" trying to make good, they are so different in many ways and therefore appeal to a different audience. Brax is the strong, silent leader who is equal parts terrifying and nurturing. He is smart, serious and intense and he carries many burdens. These characteristics make him appealing and somewhat of a sympathetic hero to many. On the flip side Heath is loud, bold and reckless. He is fun and severely loyal. Despite enduring the same tough upbringing as his brother he is a lot more carefree than Brax due to his place and role in the family. He is the cheeky underdog and this also appeals in my opinion but to a different audience. I guess we will never know if it was Brax's leadership or Steve's acting that contributed to him being voted most popular on this occasion.
Freakie42 Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 I guess we will never know if it was Brax's leadership or Steve's acting that contributed to him being voted most popular on this occasion.I'd say a combination of both.
~Lynd~ Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 I have to admit I have found some tweets in the past by Dan kind of inappropriate.I guess it's just a shame he has thousands of people looking at him when he lets of steam.I've only actually seen one regarding the Logies though and I agreed with him.Might look for the others. I guess we'll never know the reason why Heath seems to be the least popular of the braxtons (though he's my fave lol).I suspect it's a number of things though.I'm sure not everyone ''just thinks he's hot'' or some such thing.I might not agree with them but they have a right to their opinions.
