Episode 29

May 29, 1985

On Wednesday morning, Anahera is hanging out with her friends outside the quad before roll call.
Anahera: I need help guys.
Leo: Help with what, Ana?
Anahera: I’m going to find Jordan, but I need help in case Mum and that welfare lady find out.
Jennifer: What do you want us to do?
Anahera: I’ve already got Michael and Grace onside. I want you guys to make out that we’re going to the city for the day.
Jennifer: Well, I doubt that a bunch of Year 7 students like us would be allowed to go into the city.
Leo: Not if we’re in a big group.
*Brigitte enters*
Brigitte: What are we talking about?
Anahera: Hey, Brigitte. I’m glad you’re here.
Brigitte: I’m glad. *laughs*
Anahera: No, I’m serious. I’m going to find Jordan and I’m going to do it this Saturday.
Leo: What time shall we meet at Yabbie Creek station?
Anahera: 8:30 in the morning. So, you’re in, Leo?
Leo: Sure am.
Brigitte: Count me in too.
Anahera: Jen?
Jennifer: Yeah, I’ll come as well.
Anahera: I need to let Shirley know as well, but she’s got the flu.
Jennifer: I’ll let her know this afternoon. I have to take her some butter menthols anyway.
Anahera: I appreciate this, guys.
*they all hug Anahera*

That afternoon, Bonnie is on her lunch break when she overhears Grace and Jennifer talking about the situation with Anahera at the milk bar.
Jennifer: Ana seems more happier than she was last week.
Grace: I agree with you, Jen. She really needs our support right now.
Jennifer: I’m just glad that all of us are going with her to find Jordan. Seeing them reunited will bring tears to my eyes.
Grace: Oh, please. I can’t bear any waterworks. *laughs*
*Bonnie has a shocked look on her face as she takes a bite of her sandwich*
Jennifer: I’ll phone Shirley tonight and let her know what’s going on.
Grace: Good idea. We can’t keep her in the dark.
*Bonnie leaves the milk bar with her sandwich in hand!*
Bonnie: *to herself* Oh my god, Anahera.
(When Anahera arrives home from school later, she’s surprised to find Bonnie standing out the front)
Anahera: Bonnie, what are you doing here
Bonnie: Anahera, you are taking a huge risk going with your friends to find Jordan.
*Anahera does a double take*
Anahera: How did you…
Bonnie: I happened to overhear your friends talking about it while I was at the milk bar on my lunch break. Now, we have to think about this properly.
Anahera: I will be finding Jordan on Saturday
Bonnie: I’ll come with you.
Anahera: But
Bonnie: You have to be realistic, Anahera. I will be accompanying you and your friends for your own safety.
Anahera: I suppose you have a point.
*Anahera sees Moana walking from a distance*
Anahera: Oh no! Mum’s on her way home. Quick! You better go.
Bonnie: What time Saturday?
Anahera: 8:30.
Bonnie: See you then.
*Bonnie gets in her car and drives off*
Anahera: That was close!

Episode 30

(Moana storms over to where Anahera is standing!)

Moana: RIGHT! WHAT ARE YOU UP TO?!

Anahera: Nothing! My friends asked me if I wanted to spend time with them on Saturday. We’re thinking of going into the city.

Moana: Right, then! As long as you’re OUT of my hair, and not trying to meddle in my affairs with the FACs people!

Anahera: Of course.

*As Anahera goes inside the house, she smirks to herself!*

Moana: You best be out in time for dinner, or you’ll GO HUNGRY!

Anahera: Whatever you say, Mumsie!

Moana: Disrespectful bitch! *rolls her eyes*

*Anahera goes into her room before closing the door*

Anahera: Your game will be up, Moana Brown. *smirks*

Meanwhile at the Yabbie Creek FACs office, Bonnie goes over to Miss Talbot’s desk before taking Jordan’s case file! Bonnie then puts some papers into her briefcase, and as soon as she hears footsteps, she quickly puts the file back on the desk before returning to her own, just as Miss Talbot walks in!

Miss Talbot: I’m going home now.

Bonnie: Hallelujah!

Miss Talbot: Oh, I’ll be back tomorrow. Have fun working until six, Bonnie Monnie! *sticks her tongue out*

*A fellow social worker, Maureen Hutchins, goes over to Miss Talbot*

Maureen: Donna, could I have a word with you in my office please?

Miss Talbot: But I’ve finished now.

Maureen: It’ll take two seconds!

*As Miss Talbot follows Maureen, Bonnie smiles to herself at the desk*

Bonnie: *thinking to herself* This plan better work in my favour.

Miss Talbot: *from a distance* WHAT DO YOU MEAN I’M OFF THE JORDAN BROWN CASE?!

*Bonnie laughs as she types away at her computer, her measure of revenge against Miss Talbot being a complete success*

Bonnie: Poor diddums.

*Bonnie continues to smile, but pretends to be looking at her computer as Miss Talbot storms off!*

Bonnie: Bye, Donna.

Miss Talbot: Oh, shut up, Bonnie Monnie! *leaves*

(Bonnie smirks to herself)

(That night, Moana has left the house without telling Anahera once again. Anahera is eating her dinner in front of the TV when the phone rings)

Anahera: Hello?

Shirley: *hoarsely* Hey, Ana. It’s me.

Anahera: You sound terrible, Shirley.

Shirley: You think?! I’ve got the damn flu. I hope I’m better by Friday.

Anahera: I take it you won’t be coming to school tomorrow, either?

Shirley: No. But if I’m better by Friday, I will come and help you find Jordan.

Anahera: Thanks, girl. Means a lot.

*Anahera sees Moana on the front porch*

Anahera: I’ll call you back. *hangs up the phone*

*Moana storms in and slams the screen door behind her!*

Moana: THINK YOU’RE REAL F***ING CLEVER, DON’T YOU?! MISS TALBOT’S BEEN REMOVED FROM HANDLING JORDAN’S CASE! I BLAME YOU, ANAHERA BROWN!

Anahera: Get over yourself, diddums!

*Moana’s face goes red!*

Moana: WHAT did you just say to me?!

Anahera: You heard me, you lowlife pathetic piece of scum! YOU’RE NO MOTHER! THE ONLY THING YOU CARE ABOUT ARE COLLECTING THE WELFARE PAYMENTS AND KEEPING ME HERE AS A PUNCHING BAG! WELL, YOU KNOW WHAT?! YOU CAN GET F*****!

*Moana punches Anahera square in the face! Anahera fights back, and soon the two get into a full blown fight!*

Next door, Mrs Stroud is trying to watch the news when she hears Moana and Anahera fighting.

Mrs Stroud: I’m SO over this happening!

*Mrs Stroud dials the number for the Yabbie Creek Police Station*

Mrs Stroud: Hello, police? I’d like to report a domestic disturbance.

NEXT TIME
- The fallout of Anahera’s fight with her mother
- Anahera’s friends support her, while she makes some new ones
