She was the first regular character, and one of the few characters in the 80s/1990s to depart on a negative note. Pretty much every other character either got a happy ending or left Summer Bay for a new job etc. It was more common in the early 90s for characters to leave after a year or so though. As well as Karen, others like Viv, Emma, Haydn, Ben, Grant and Simon come to mind, so it could just be a case over Belinda Jarrett moving on at the end of her contract. Quote
