^I know you're not asking me. But I think Pippa's last episode felt really underwhelming. I think it's because the producers didn't want the audience to become too aware of how different the show was going to be without Pippa etc. so they dumbed it down a bit and put a lot of emphasis on the idea that she was only going away for a few months and would be back. Therefore, it didn't get near enough the same amount of attention as Fisher's exit for example.

When they did the 'end of an era' storyline in 2000 after Sally's non-wedding, with Pippa taking one last look at the house before the audio flashbacks - that's the type of storyline I would have thought a character like Pippa should have got back in 1998. I don't think it matters now though, since the 'end of an era' stuff was faultless, so it more than made up for it Imo

Its strange Alexx because I usually agree with you on almost everything but I really liked the way Pippa left.

They did the classic, one final walk along the beach. She had a big party with all characters and separate scenes with all foster children. Even a nice scene where she invites Vinnie inside. Her last shot waving out of the car down that familiar path was nice. I know what you mean in a way about underwhelming but the show was very understated in its story telling during most of 1998 in general and I sort of liked that.

If you look at Pippa's leaving as not just her last episode but the whole first half of late 97/98 its done so well. Subtle hints get dropped around late 97 about how fed up she is and tired all the time.

The way the prospect of her leaving hugely effects the lives of Justine, Tiegan, Sam and Sally. Some of the best Sally/Pippa stuff is because she was leaving.

And after she left it was still causing Sally and especially Sam upset. I can think of some many scene when Sam or Sally wish Pippa was there so I'm not sure they were not trying to make a big deal out of it.

I think thats far better, than a character having a massive dramatic leaving episode and then after a week there are no signs that the person was ever there and no consequence of them leaving.

Also I hate it when a characters says "I've decided to leave Summer Bay" and in that very ep they're gone!

Sorry, this isnt about 2000.

Yeah I suppose I honestly can't remember it all in great detail. I'm just remembering how I felt at the time, perhaps I'd appreciate it watching it back. I do agree with you about all of the build up though, I thought it was all done quite well. It was just that final episode I remember feeling underwhelmed by. I guess I was hoping for/expecting more emotion/nostalgia. But we did get that in the build up here and there, such as when Pippa made her firm decision to leave and there were the flashbacks.

^You've probably seen it on Youtube. When she has an argument with Sally and she's questioning whether or not to go and she has flashbacks of Sally as a little girl and a voice over of Ailsa encouraging her to go and explore.

I haven't but I'll go and look it up now, thanks.
