Even stevens. H&A is less popular in the UK but Neighbours is waaaay less popular than H&A in Australia.

Also H&A has the oldest duration of a continuous character in the history of soap. Alfred Douglas Flamin Stewart now 26 years in the show and counting.

Well that's an opinion To me Sydney more nicer! Not to say theres good people in Victoria yet other places are better for personal reasons!

The UK does help Neighbours that's not in doubt as I know people in the UK who are VERY devoted to Ramsey street.

I have been to Sydney, the home town of H&A and found it a great place.

I think as long as the UK viewers watch, Neighbours will carry on the TV screens. It will reach its 30th for sure and probably sail on afterwards. No other Aussie soap IMHO has made the grain like those two have, Neighbours and H&A are institutions in an outside Australia.

What about the UK and US soaps? Isn't there a main character in Coronation Street who has been in it for 50 years since it started in 1960?

As I've said before, I don't think H&A and Neighbours are compatible these days, they both have the 'soap' tag but they're very different to each other.

Neighbours still feels like an everyday TV show you can watch without sensationalism and endless misery. Comedy, drama and community spirit. H&A has taken leave of much of that in recent years. I am watching Neighbours now on Channel 5 and it just seems to be a chill out soap. When I begin to watch an episode of H&A I think "Oh who is going to get shot or stabbed this episode then" I never get that with Neighbours. I casually watch both shows, I can miss an ep though.

From what I know from former sources Neighbours is on an earlier time slot which doesnt allow for certain plots and I can see why they dont make Ramsey street as Dark as some of the H&A murders or action scenes.

Im sure the N people would love to be as equal to H&A in ratings and popularity.

Both shows used to be as jolly as each other.

If only H&A would cut down on the dark stories and Braxton infuence then it would be more watchable again. I am as fond of a good scandal and murder as the next bloke but not to the excess H&A has done.

I once suggested a Hostage situation plot in the Store with some of the Neighbours being held by some Robbers and Turner and the police discover them and surround the place and leads to very interesting Drama on how to solve getting hem out.

I don't know if Neighbours would be brave enough to do that in the future yet It would be a nice chlffhanger and I agree H&A should do a New family story like I suggested here.

I think people tend to bicker and row more in N than they do in H&A, both have conflict just different types. In H&A they are more dramatic such as fires, bombs and such. Both shows have plenty of history with an aggregated 13000 episodes if you bolted them together, almost 7000 for N and almost 6000 for H&A.
