Im not dismissing anyone or anything. I was simply sharing my opinion. Your last comment your putting words into my mouth. I never said ThAt. I could say the same about You harping on about Maddy and Matt. But I won't.

Wrong staff member.

I didn't say it was a direct quote, just the sentiment you give out:

Some need to accept shew not the Olivia before. Shes now a teenager. So a completely different character.

But I'm not getting into an argument about it.

Moving on.

It's a discussion about the current producers ruining Home and Away... The reintroduction of characters under a certain producer would fall under that category, don't you think? :P

Not when some of us weren't allowed to discuss the introduction of other characters along the same vein.

This isn't about introducing, it's about reintroducing... A producer taking another producer's character and changing them... That, my friend, is about ruining the show :P

Pretty sure that Cameron Welsh was in charge when certain characters were introduced and their story arc was extended under the guise of another producer.  However,  that is not the point either is it.

The several pages of threads regarding 'Oliva 2.0' do not even mention or even delve into whether the current producers are ruining the show or not.

I am also not your friend.

I think the best thing the show could do is bring back one of Pippa's foster children. It's the only thing which will give the show a long term direction. The whole point of the show was about fostering, the Fletcher family. They re-cast Pippa is 1990 because they knew how essential that family was to the show. What is the point of shoe-horning Alf and Leah into Summer Bay House? What's going to happen when all of Zac and Leah's teens leave? I don't want to see them fostering because it would seem contrived.

The best thing would be to bring back one of Pippa's foster children and for them to start fostering. Sophie can't come back unfortauntely, I'd like Jack to come back with some foster kids in tow, unlikely maybe? But I think it'd be great and it'd be a contrast to having the 'matriarchal' figure at the centre of Summer Bay House. Don't know if the actor's still acting, I hope so, if not bring back Carly, she was also a great character. Even if these actors don't want to return, they've got a raft of former foster kids they could bring back to start the show on a new path.

When characters are reintroduced it's simply good writing to write them in a way that connects them to the character people knew before. Change is always going to happen, especially when recasting, but it is frustrating when old characters return and are essentially nothing like the ones people knew before. I didn't know the younger Olivia and i don't know much about Chloe at all but i would be extremely frustrated if a character i liked returned to be nothing like the one i knew before. Continuity is one of the many things the show struggles with, but it is necessary for the show to work. Home and away has changed dramatically since the beginning, so connecting the past with the present is a great way for people to remember and reminisce about past characters and storylines. I think it should be encouraged.

Sorry for the late reply, I've been getting treatment for the burn I received.

Any Cameron Welsh character has since left the show, except John Palmer... Every character now on the show, is either John Holmes, Andrew Howie, Russell Webb or Lucy Addario...

But I do seem to remember certain people engaging in a discussion about Roo, and I don't think I saw the word 'producer' once. Or anything to alluded to a producer even. So I guess there's a few people that need to get back on topic (and some that need to take their own advice) :D

Gosh isn't it nice when someone can engage in petty arguments for the sake of it.

Yes, I've had discussions about certain characters returning in several threads.  Possibly including this one and I also recall people shouting me down and negating my point of view.  But hey you know what I'll just slink off and not bother to engage in any conversation again.

I have said it quite a lot but I am saying it again. My main problem isn't with Olivia but with the way she was introduced. In my opinion you don't assassinate a past character who left years ago (James) just to make a connection between Irene & Olivia (the abuse). He wasn't a perfect character but he has now been painted as a cold & heartless person... he turned in to his Mother :o. All of this would have been good... if James had re-appeared. Which will probably never happen.

But the past doesn't matter of course.
