I never mentioned anyone personally. I didn't say a few or some i said a lot. I meant a number of people in general. Outside of this website when talking about H&A's problems with friends/fellow viewers at work this has topic has actually come up.

Sorry if you thought i was talking about you in particular, i really wasn't.

Oh, alright. No problem.

I just watched the recent episode focusing on Irene:

Spoiler

Irene's 'daughter' just turned up

And I have to say it was so beautifully written and performed. It really is like Irene is back on form in these episodes. I was genuinely touched by some of the scenes which I've said now a number of times since Dan Bennet came back on board. I think his strengths definitely lie in emotional storytelling. The fact that I have been able to care and relate to the characters so many times within the space of a few months and yet felt zero compassion and care for what was being produced over a number YEARS (2011-2015) just underlines that I am certainly not a fan of Louise and Lucy's writing/producing style and I don't think it's the way forward for H&A.

Having said that even the 2016 episodes and characters continuing on the crime element still have me bored. I really don't like those characters, I find them irritating and the storylines make it worse. I wasn't a fan of the hospital/crime element Dan Bennet brought to the show ten years ago and I'm still not feeling it, but I do think he's managed to turn the show into a much improved version of itself.... three times a week.

Well in 1998 they could easily have brought back Vanessa to play Pippa after Debra quit.

Vanessa originally left the show because of Roger Oakley (Tom) being axed from the show and she was unhappy with the direction the show was going. It was going towards a teenage audience and she felt that wasn't the direction the show should be going. That being said, I highly doubt she would of returned to play the role of Pippa in 1998.

I suspect the rift between Roger and the show has been mended because he returned for Sallys last year as a ghost.

Debra left the show in 1998 as she was looking after her child with Dennis (Michael) and wanted to move to Melbourne. She has said many times she would love to return to Home and Away but due to the location of filming (in Sydney), it would be too hard. This is why she only ever has short stints in the show.

Where did you get that Vanessa was unhappy with the teenage direction ?.

Charlie Clausen has said in Inside Soap that he sees Zac & Leah becoming the next Tom & Pippa, with an endless cycle of kids coming through the house, which would be nice to see some stability to Summer Bay House - it's nice that he seems committed to the show too.

It's really disappointing to hear characters have been cut due to a lack of budgeting and management. Andrew Morley said he was let go from HAA  as   "A network is more likely to cut roles than cut a budget or cut management roles."  I wish they cut that producer (you all know who)  instead of characters.

I can easily see Zak and Leah as the new Tom and Pippa, or Michael and Pippa. Much better than Braxton Bay, the gang going around acting like The Kray Twins (distant rellies of mine actually). It is such a blow that Dan Bennett left so soon, and we dont even know who is replacing him, and what with Lucy at the helm, we may see a 2011-2015 style return once he is gone unless she leaves.

It doesn't say anywhere in that article that he was let go.

He does have some interesting comments to say though, it sounds like Neighbours is a friendlier place to work these days.

Considering they are his current employers it might be good politics for him to say that.
