Are the current producers ruining Home and Away?

I wouldn't necessarily tar the Morgans with the Braxton brush, I actually quite like them as characters (unlike the Braxtons other than early Casey/late regular Heath), but what I don't like is the crime aspect of their story. I have liked the human side of it though, like when they're hoping they can live a normal life again or when they're just being normal siblings.

I think a lot of the current format came to the centrepiece after Sally left in 2008. The backbone of the show was ripped out and since then it has gone haywire.

They do not need to abandon all of the current format but certainly reduce it and bring back the balance like Neighbours does.

Problem is people don't want to watch simple family drama at 7:00 pm any more.

I actually miss the Braxton's as they brought something original to the show even though they hogged screen time.

Yeah I agree with the notion, the current format of H and A  exists, due to the times and the climate changing. I am not saying they need to abandon family drama. I agree their needs to be a balance. But majority of the audience clearly love the danger, and action the Braxtons brought. OR they woulden't of been so popular in the first place. OF course if your a nostalgic, you diddn't like what they brought, but just saying majority of the audience clearly did. But personally their is nothing wrong with the current format, I personally feel, it is almost 2001 home and away atm. But that is just my personal opinion. IT is 2016, things change. So I like the show in terms of set designs, feels like your watching a show in 2016. Neighbours kinda bores me lol, sorry. I see no issue with the current Home and Away, it's doing pretty good. But that is just my opinion. As for thriller music tone, well if they are trying to set a dangerous scene. The Telletubbies theme song prob is not going to be appropriate lol. But I do get the point, about the music being too harsh in tone. ATM their are some great characters. Not sure where UK Pace is at, so possible spoiler

Spoiler

The Morgans, partic Brody I have really enjoyed. Kinda like the Braxtons, but not so much drama they brought. And they have integrated into the community better. SO their is still that community feel to the show. And also the new young teen characters of Raffy and Elly. Potential for a young teen crowd their. So all in all Home and Away is in a good place. Come a long way since the Brax era.

When was H&A that, if ever? To me that describes Neighbours more.

Alan Bateman said he wanted H&A to ruffle feathers when the show was about to air for the first time. He bought in teenage pregnancy, rape, drugs, running away from home, rebellious foster teens etc into the first season but ATEOTD these were eclipsed by the family storylines and comedy. You could say with the dark storylines in 2016 that they are sticking to the Alan Bateman strategy and "ruffling feathers" but the balance is too wrong, and the dark incidental music is overplayed.

Well yes i agree the show lacks balance. But it seems to be heading in the right direction. Maybe it needs a fresh voice or something, I don't know.

Can't believe that the lovely 20th anniversary montage has been taken off YouTube. Created by summerbay journal it's far better than anything channel 7 has ever done. How tight can you be.

Unfortunately everything is so copyright these days. You cannot create infringement on the internet, without official licensing and permission from the owner. So yes a bit tight from 7. But they own the rights and properties, to anything containing, or pertaining Home and Away. So they do have the right to take it down.

Thanks. I do understand the copyright laws though.
