Are the current producers ruining Home and Away?

The thing i object to is the amount of sex in the show. Why can't characters meet and slowly build a relationship for once instead of jumping into bed right away?It may sound silly but i genuinely get annoyed when characters like Kat and Ash can't seem to keep their hands off each other. For me it just comes across as cheap and tacky.Anyway i've recently given up on the current show and i'm enjoying The Early Years again.

I don't know they drag stuff out in Neighbours. Tyler and Piper for instance lol. I like in H and A they just get to it lol. They over simplify things too much in Neighbors some times. Although I agree currently the episodes are prob better overall then H and A. They have found that balance. That H and A lacks. I still prefer H and A. Just a taste thing. .Neighbores bores me lol. Sorry I find it dull. In H and A, things develop pretty much each episode in H and A. In Neighbours, feels nothing happens for weeks. I guess they ignored pretty much half the show. In the Braxton Era, it did feel like The River Boys Starring Home and Away lol. Well Guest Apperences heh. So guess still in that transitional phase. Did not help other then possibly Heath. I always thought Bianca should of ended up with Liam. But the other Braxtons got crappy exit stories tbh. Casey dieing was a bit disheartening. Kyle who was one of the most redeeming Braxtons in the end. Got Jail for his trouble, over a woman he barley knew, like what the heck. And of course Brax got off scott free, he should of been the one to be killed off. So you know. Characters in their own bubbles, bit of an issue. Kinda annoys me atm watching this show, when their is an event happening. And think hmm shoulden't that character be their. But of course they are not, because they have another storyline happening. It is a small town. That and I agree the music in tone is still too harsh. I understand it for a Underbelly type scene. But most of the time, it is way too harsh. If I wanted to listin to harsh music, I would go listin to Katy Perry haha.

H&A does feel like The Katarina Chapman Show at times now many of the Braxtons have gone.

It could be worse. It could be The Phoebe Nicholson show... :o

I think the lack of structure in H&A is what makes me prefer Neighbours. There are just so many random un-connected characters in H&A it must be hard for new viewers to understand. Summer Bay House for instance - A man, his son, his niece, his wife, her son, a random old man...Irene, a middle-aged woman, and various 20-something boarders, and her (dead) foster daughter's kid...Roo, a middle-aged woman, the daughter of the old man randomly living with a random family in the main house, who lives with her kinda foster daughter's ex boyfriend.

Debra Lawrance has said she would return. I say be done with it, put Pippa back in SBH with her 3rd husband and get them fostering again. Bring the structure back. The show is based on waifs and strays with no connections. But it needs structure.

Re-visiting Irene's kids is a must too - and she must have grandchildren as well who could easily be regulars. None of this floating around the Diner with no purpose thing.

Bringing back Duncan was a MASSIVE step in the right direction for me. I also think the Morgans are great, they just need to move on from their sensational plots and have normal storylines.

Yes I feel Neighbours is far superior to H&A now. Neighbours is respectful of its roots and there is a huge sense of familiarity. A few years ago H&A just decided to totally detach itself from its roots. Even the long term characters are written as dull and insipid now. Everyone's lives in constant danger etc.

I no longer watch the current show and haven't for several years so I have really no right to judge. However I saw a minute of one episode and five seconds of another this week and it was enough. Unless its just bad timing and there is more interesting things going on. Sorry, I don't know names. The first was the corniest scene ever. A guy trying to get with a girl so he was singing this song. The other clip had someone in hospital, classic life or death situation. With characters all worried. Is that all the show is still offering? Dull romances and hospital scence after a dramatic accident or shock illness. Really the same old thing for about five years. Or is there more that I don't see?

just wondering if there are any other long term fans that have stopped watching but sometimes curiosity gets there better of them so they take a look. Only to be reminded within a couple of scenes of why they stopped.

I am a long term fan who gave up on the show in 2008 and gave the show the occasional curious watch through the years only to switch right off again. However, I've been watching every day for several months now.

I started to notice improvement last year with Alf's Canberra and ANZAC Day storylines, the nostalgia around Marilyn's amnesia, and the return of Summer Bay House exterior scenes (just the nostalgia factor I guess).

As you've seen, the crime and constant hospitalisation element is still there, but I've found just enough glimmer of hope over the last few months to keep my interest. I love the interaction between the older and long term characters: Alf, Roo, Irene, Leah, John and Marilyn. They really come across as deep friendships. I will always adore the Donald and Marilyn pairing - that was a real golden era for me - but I do enjoy John and Marilyn's comedy too. They come a close second. There is a fair bit of humour, for example Brody insulting Leah's moussaka, saying whoever made it obviously knows nothing about Greek food. The plane crash was visually impressive, even if it was just another disaster. And it's not uncommon for old photos to be seen on screen: Finlay, Chloe, Duncan, etc.

My interest is hanging by a thread at the moment... but that's an improvement over how things were a few years ago.
