Are the current producers ruining Home and Away?

I think the lack of structure in H&A is what makes me prefer Neighbours. There are just so many random un-connected characters in H&A it must be hard for new viewers to understand. Summer Bay House for instance - A man, his son, his niece, his wife, her son, a random old man...Irene, a middle-aged woman, and various 20-something boarders, and her (dead) foster daughter's kid...Roo, a middle-aged woman, the daughter of the old man randomly living with a random family in the main house, who lives with her kinda foster daughter's ex boyfriend.

Debra Lawrance has said she would return. I say be done with it, put Pippa back in SBH with her 3rd husband and get them fostering again. Bring the structure back. The show is based on waifs and strays with no connections. But it needs structure.

Re-visiting Irene's kids is a must too - and she must have grandchildren as well who could easily be regulars. None of this floating around the Diner with no purpose thing.

Bringing back Duncan was a MASSIVE step in the right direction for me. I also think the Morgans are great, they just need to move on from their sensational plots and have normal storylines.

But I think Debra would only return as a guest because she lives in Melbourne and that's why she left in the first place. She from Melbourne and her mum lives there. Had she be from Sydney and her mum live in Sydney its very possible Debra might have never of left or at least stayed for more years.

But I am not to sure if Pippa would be quite the  same character anymore if she did return as regular because I mean she is her 60s now and she probably might not have had same energy at being foster mum like she did back during her time as  a regular. I don't mean to  be rude I am by no means saying  Pippa or Debra are old lady's  but I don't think it feel quite same as teens and viewers would  look at Pippa more of grandma now than mother.

Its like Irene she starting to be more of Grandma then mother to teens.

I think it be better to focus on making  Leah/Marilyn/Roo as foster mothers as they're at a believable age.

Sorry if I sound rude about Irene and Pippa but fact of matter is don't you don't look younger with age and teens and viewers are going to look at Pippa and Irene more as grandmas then mothers like Leah/Roo/Marilyn/Sally.

That Grandmotherly relationship can work - look at the dynamic between Aiden and Morag as an example

As you've seen, the crime and constant hospitalisation element is still there, but I've found just enough glimmer of hope over the last few months to keep my interest. I love the interaction between the older and long term characters: Alf, Roo, Irene, Leah, John and Marilyn. They really come across as deep friendships. I will always adore the Donald and Marilyn pairing - that was a real golden era for me - but I do enjoy John and Marilyn's comedy too. They come a close second. There is a fair bit of humour, for example Brody insulting Leah's moussaka, saying whoever made it obviously knows nothing about Greek food. The plane crash was visually impressive, even if it was just another disaster. And it's not uncommon for old photos to be seen on screen: Finlay, Chloe, Duncan, etc.

My interest is hanging by a thread at the moment... but that's an improvement over how things were a few years ago.

H&A is better than it was a few years ago, but still not brilliant. It is good that at the moment, thanks in part to Duncan being back that the Stewarts are more centre stage than they have been for a number of years. The long term characters you mention are also more prominent than in recent years, which is a step in the right direction. However it still seems to be disaster-of-the-week with someone always in hospital or down at the police station.

I'm glad the show seems to be gradually moving in the right direction. I see glimmers of hope that the Morgans are more than just Braxton replacements, but time will tell once presumably at some point they will be safe from whatever "enemies" are out there to get them. I still don't quite understand their back-story yet, whether or not we're meant to, I'm not sure. At least there is a bit more variety with the storylines these days. While I have my doubts we'll ever get back to another "golden era", hopefully they can steer the series towards being in reasonable shape for the 30th anniversary.

Perhaps Pippa would be too old to return and start fostering again, although she is only 60, it's not that old.

I really don't want the show to start making Marilyn, Leah or Roo foster. It doesn't make sense for their characters, other than perhaps Marilyn. Pippa's character was all about looking after people and caring for people, so it made sense for the Fletcher household to be full of foster kids. Having Marilyn, Leah or Roo do it is just a cheap imitation.

If Pippa is too old for it, then maybe as has been suggested before any number of the previous foster kids could return and start fostering in SBH. Jack, Carly, Sophie (unlikely), Chris etc at least it would make sense for their characters who were brought up in a foster home. It made sense when Sally started doing it, although IMO she was a bit young to be fostering back in 2004, but down the line if Kate Ritchie is willing, she could return to SBH and be the new foster parent. I don't think she'll ever return though.

Home and Away is definately more consistent, and is finding a real balance then it was 2 years ago.

Spoiler

I think Duncan returning really put the Stewarts to the forefront of the show again, which was the real heart of the show. And because of this I Feel the community spirit has returned. In the wake of The Post Braxton Era.
