Are the current producers ruining Home and Away?

Right from the start H&A has always been a predominantly teen show but the thing is they did not always dominate storylines, the older ones did as well even if a majority of the shows cast were teens.

I sometimes with former producers like Des Monaghan would return and sort the show out, reduce the crime related stories and give all cast of all ages a fair share. I know John Holmes has been the exec producer since 1988 I think so why is he not doing anything about Lucy and Louise who to me are amatuers.

Last year I gave up all together. The only bits I enjoyed towards the end were Marilyn scenes.

Same. But I'm afraid even Marilyn, John and Jett couldn't keep me tuning in anymore, just because it's become a huge chore to sit through the rest of the show. The storylines and characters as well as the overall 'tone' were so mind numbing to me and when I last tuned in to see how things were (the final week of last year) it seemed as if nothing had changed.

I don't think H&A was always a teen show. The Early Years proves that - it's aimed at a wide demographic. I think it became more of a 'younger' show gradually over the past ten to fifteen years, but has really solidified itself as a youth (teens-30's) orientated show over the past five years Imo

I like the mixture in H&A of light heartedness and darker stuff but I feel there is still too many crime related stories. I do hope one day H&A will go back to the lighter and frothier days but it has had to change in order to survive. And just a few days ago it reached its 26th birthday. Neighbours and H&A have stood the test of time to say the least.

I hope when the Braxton era is over that H&A returns to the way it was pre Braxton era. I dont hate the Braxxies but feel they do dominate the show too much and have too many gangster storylines. I know Neighbours went through a very dark phase in 2008ish so the same is happeing to H&A. Both soaps have their highs and their lows.

I accept the fact that shows can get updated to move with the times, but not to completely change what the whole show was about. If it weren't for some of the characters and locations, you'd be forgiven for thinking that today's Home and Away was literally a totally different show.

We all have different opinions but I dont think H&A has completely changed beyond all recognition and I stick by that judgement. And I would never, ever see it as a different show. It may feel like a different show a lot but I would never say it was literally a different show.

I explained before that the show is still 26 years old, 26 years going, same title, same location, it is the same programme but it often feels like a different programme but certainly NOT is a different programme altogether.

I agree with Jamie, that at the moment it only seems like it's the same show at times because of the location and a few of the characters.

I've always tried to keep an open mind with the current show. and try not to judge it as I know times changes, it cant stay the same etc. Also as I no longer have enough interest to watch it every day it unfair to comment.

However I did tune in for the 2014 start about the bomb. A bomb going off is surely one of the biggest things to happen in any soap ever.

Yet I found myself utterly bored thru out the whole episode. Accompanied with an extremely dull script it just felt like another run of the mill episode. I found myself more enthralled when Lance's favourite fish died.

Listening to some of the old underscores on the internet also spells out how all the warmth had been taken out of the show. So combine that with blander characters and bland writing and what is there to interest people nowadays

Yes, all the good looking actors may be attracting younger viewers but is it enough in the longer run. In the recent few years the heart and soul of Home and Away has been ripped ott of the show leaving only a shell and a name. . The fact that this has been allowed to happen is disgusting. Isnt there anyone working in the show that loves it as a whole and cares about the history of the characters.

There is one thing about bombs and explosion generally I'm wondering about. How come when someone is not that far away from an explosion they get badly hurt? Like when Casey dragged Maddie out of the car and despite being far away from the car when it exploded he got hurt, I don't get it

That is because you need to make a certain amount of posts on the Forum before one can access that function. At the moment you don't have enough posts to access it. You need at least 500 or so posts from memory.
