Are the current producers ruining Home and Away?

Dylan was also the name of Angel's son in it way before you started watching it. The show is 25 years old so compared to people who have watched watched it from then beginning the yes, 10 years is pretty new. And to think you have watched Irene for over 10 years and you still thought until very recently that she had only one son!!! When her whole purpose to be in the show was because of the other two! Says a lot about the last 10 years.

So I don't think we can put all the blame on the current producers. They are taking it from where they left off and continued to move it further away with its roots With even less continuity. It's gone down hill since about 2001 very slowly. Starting from the way they dealt with Ailsa's death. Not that there hasn't been some fantastic moments since then. Or that before is wasn't dodgy every now and then.

I knew she has other childrens, i also knew she had a husband which was Will´s father and that she was an alcoholicer to and hit her childs, and that she was a real bicth when she first appeared. But what i didn´t know before recently was that she was played by a different actress during her first stint, the show isn´t only about Irene, i knew Alf had children besides Duncan so don´t come here and call me a new viewer, incredible much has happened the last 12 years i have watched. I think the show from the 2000 looks much better then back in the 90s and 80s

No. Irene was never married to Will's father Ken. They didn't get that far. Irene has only been married to her children's father Murdock.

So in which case can we compromise and call you a late comer.

And sorry for going off topic. I did try and pull it back in my last post.

Im not a later comer, you are starting to get on my nerve! i have watched the show for over 10 years, i know all of the show, probably more than you. I couldn´t care less how long you have been watching the show, but dont call me a new viewer, i have watched the show half its life time. I am so far from a new viewer, im a old viewer, i started watching the 2001 episodes back when the show was old and different and all the classic characters was in the show so dont go and call me a new viewer because im not...

I'm not that 'old' myself, but I took time to educate myself on the history of the show and the characters. In time, I got to know the characters and their back stories in great depth and I'm so glad I did that as it gives you a much better outlook when you're aware of so much history!

These 'new' viewers could easily take some time to learn about the history of Home and Away and maybe then they'd realise that there's so much more to the show than what is being produced today.

Just my opinion.

Actually I'm with you right up to where you conclude that what is being produced today is some how less than what has past.

I certainly agree that new viewers would benefit greatly from an understanding and familiarity with the past history of the show. This would include an understanding and knowledge of past iconic characters and storylines..

However I would see that knowledge as making for a greater appreciation of how the show has developed and an appreciation of what it has become.

What do you classify as a new viewer? i have watched the show since the late 2001 year in 2003. Seeing as the show was over ten years old by then does that make me a new viewer?

I think anyone with less than a full season's history with the show could be regarded as a new viewer. The show has to attract new viewers constantly to survive.

For me the most best use of returning characters is to acquaint newer viewers with the history of the show. Unfortunately returns are not always written that way.

As I understand it you are saying you have been watching the show for 10 years. I would not regard you as a new viewer.

Jacklost, when you're quoting posts, can you just quote the recent posts, not the entire conversation (if you know what I mean). I enjoy reading your thoughts but it's difficult to read what you are saying because you are quoting the whole conversations. Thanks :)

How do i do that without manually editing them away myself?

Actually i have watched since 2001 from late 2003. Hard to explain, they used to show 2 years old episodes so when i in late 2003 started watching they where showing the late 2001 episodes back when Will is thrown out of the boat after some charter trip and old Flynn meets that boy that ends up collapsing at the store or what it was back then. The area that Rhy´s had before Jessie decided to make a bar, which now i think is the training center. They have started to show two episodes each day now so i have now watched home and away for 12 years:)

I don't think it matters how long you've been watching Home and Away. What matters most is you appreciate the great history that Home and Away has had and you understand the idea of what the show is truly about. The producers need to aim to keep enticing new viewers to watch the show but at the same time a little bit of research wouldn't go astray for 'new' viewers to understand and learn about the show.

Dylan is the name of Rhy´s bastard son he got with Angie. What ever happened to that character anyway? Last time we saw him was when they found out Angie had a twin sister.

LOL you've made so many mistakes in this post I feel the need to correct them.

Rhys was not Dylan's father. It was suspected initially that Dylan was a product of Rhys and Angie's affair back in the late 1980s but Angie later revealed that Rhys was not Dylan's father.

Angie did not have a twin sister, she had a cousin called Josie Russell who had a very strong resemblance to her first cousin in Angie in terms of her looks. Laurie Foell portrayed both Angie and Josie when they were on the show.

Dylan last appeared in episode 3803 and now lives in the city (Sydney) as far as we know. I doubt he'll make a return now especially since Tasha left the show in late 2006.

I don´t remember what happened in episode 3803 but the last i remember of him was that scene where they sat in the car out side Josie´s house after having found out she lives there. There may have be scenes with him after but i honestly don´t remember. I was gonna say she was her cousin but how can a cousin look so alike? They should have just made her a twin sister instead because that would make more sense

If Rhy was not Dylan´s father how come when he was accused for murdering Angie he protected him and said he killer her? I can´t believe i didn´t remember that he was not his son after all. There has probably been allot of talk now from me about Dylan but do we know how old he was in the show? I don´t wanna take the chance og guessing as im usually never correct
