H&A may not seem so dramatic if they did cut out the harsh music. Amazing the son of the original H&A music writer wrote the harsh music.

They can mix light and shade I agree but to me it is leaning more to the shade. Alan Bateman the creator was exec producer in 1988 and he did introduce some quite controversial stories such as Carly's rape, her drug use and a teenage pregnancy plot all in 1 year as well as Gazza Samuel's suicide. I think he handled them with more care.

I think in fairness many of the characters outside the Braxtons lead quite normal lives such as Alf, John, Irene, Mazza, Chris, Spencer, Jett etc it is just mainly the Braxtons that lead very turbulent and careless lives dabbling in crime. IMHO H&A was tamer before the Braxton era. Although they can have episodes where nothing much happens and there are everyday scenes away from crime. Neighbours occasionally uses harsh music as well like with Kate's murder. I think H&A have toned down on the murders at least it is just the harsh music being used in scenes which are not as dramatic as the music makes them out to be.

A lot of people on Digital Spy agree that the current producers are ruining the show.

What I think is scary with this is that everyone is pointing out teens having sex and changing partners. But it was like that 10, 20, and 25 years ago too. The difference is that at that time the charachters personality was explored too... And is it so awful that teens are swapping girl/boyfriends?

But what has really changed about H&A is the endless crime scenes and characters that are out for revenge. There are no explanations and no big reasons behind the actions like it was 5-10 years ago. At that time every violent action was questioned in the storylines... and made the viewers think about the use of violence.

I think it is very scary that there are so little criticism of use of unpunished crime these days. The show is far more violent now than in 2009 for example. There are no soap that is more violent than H&A... Use of violence is far more serious than 18-19 year olds having sex with their girl/boyfriend...
