Are the current producers ruining Home and Away?

I find that I was a big fan of the 2002 - 2006 (Coral Drouyn/Dan Bennett) years, but I'm not a big fan of this era, whether it be that the characters were more developed in the Drouyn/Bennett years than they are now. What I think Home and Away is really missing is a gossip (Colleen/Celia-type) and an all-round bitch (Angie/Amanda-esque). The storylines now are so predictable, but some are still quite entertaining - John/Marilyn/Jett never fails to make me laugh - and I must admit, whilst they were wrapped up quickly, I quite enjoyed the Spencer/catfishing and Oscar/eating disorder storylines. When I say the following (just in case they are reading), I'm not trying to tell Lucy and Louise how to do their job, because I quite like their work on All Saints together and lets face it, they are the professionals, however; if I were in charge, I'd be rewatching old shows and looking at how long stories lasted (ie, one day might take three episodes to complete), slowing things down and slow down with the crime storylines. Obviously, if we look at the ratings, the show is the highest-rating (and most popular!) Australian drama at the moment, and I would take a punt that this is because of the eye-candy, however chiseled abs can only block out unrealistic so far. So in conclusion, my advice to Lucy and Louise, and I have a feeling they do watch these forums, is slow down, try to write realistic and relatable storylines, develop the teenagers more, give Alf, Roo, Irene and Leah a bigger hand in the show than serving coffee and going off at Maddy and finally, bring in a well-rounded, no-nonsense, straight-talking, nosey (hot!) bitch!

Well I think Home & Away was lacking a busy-body between when Celia left in 1990 until Colleen returning as a regular in 1999.

I reckon they should have made Colleen a regular in 1990 after Celia left!.

At least it is a show of 2 halves in 2015 rather than a complete thriller/crime drama. You get Home And Away then The Braxton/Barrett EastEnders/Underbelly style. OK the current direction will probably be around for a while but at least write a decent script for the crime stories. But at least we still have the old school half of H&A with Palmer and Maz, Alf, Roo, Leah etc.

Having just got back into Home and Away, I find myself recording it and watching it later so I can skip scenes/stories involving Brax, Ricki, Ash, Kyle, Phoebe, Nate and Sophie. In doing this, I actually find that it is having absolutely no impact as to what it is going on with the rest of the cast (apart from Nate or Ricki occasionally interacting with the others), so in many ways it is like they are two completely different shows. I find this much more enjoyable, although at times it means I only watch 4 or 5 scenes in a whole episode..

If you skip over all the Brax/Ricky stories you must not have much episode left to watch

I don't follow the UK soaps, but Jason Herbison and Richard Jasek (Neighbours) often do/did interviews with Digital Spy and other magazines and as far as I know, welcome questions from the fans. I guess doing interviews with TV Week is the "safe option" because she knows how much they love the Braxtons.

Des Monaghan, if you're still alive and happen to be reading that PLEASE COME BACK!

Hell, I'll even settle for Andrew Howie! (Who while not as great as the above guy, did plenty with the two years he had in charge)

Yes, the H&A team could learn a lot from Neighbours. I really think after SUBO Neighbours thought it wise to listen to the fans and take on board criticism and hear what the fans want. Lucy's refusal to do interviews other media outlets suggests arrogance on her part as she seemingly feels nothing is wrong with the show and all is well. Yes, I personally feel she is relieved by the fact that being interviewed by TV Week guarantees praise of the Braxtons and what they have apparently brought to the show. They are a joke as a magazine, when was the last time Neighbours (great show these days) graced the front cover?

^That new TV WEEK interview just makes the show sound incredibly dull and boring. At least I know not to bother tuning in when it returns in a few weeks.
