Are the current producers ruining Home and Away?

I do think Channel 5 have muffed this break. When I enquired about the timing, they told me that taking the break in May worked out better ratings-wise but they can only have had one example to base it on and may have interpreted casual viewers' interest in last year's London episodes as "More people watch if we have the big return in May." I mentioned in another thread that the promotion seemed badly pitched: I know some people in the UK thread, myself included, were more interested in the colour run than Brax's prison brawl but the promos focused on that and a couple of other so-so storylines when there were things like Leah's return and Alf's Anzac Day storyline that might have attracted viewers to the return. But again, I might be misreading the audience and it might be that people who don't frequent the UK thread were grabbed by the promos.

Yeah, I'm not sure on the UK audience. I do hear the River Boys discussed in the break room at work.

I did prefer it when Channel 5 did the promos where it showed the new faces and then basically said, but Alf, Leah, Irene and Maz(?) are still here.

Friday's evening H&A on Channel 5 scored its lowest audience figure in almost a year (409k),

Yesterday's evening figure was even lower - 393K with 160K at lunchtime. Hopefully ratings can't sink much lower. Any possible changes in storyline direction can't come soon enough!

I read  Lucy's interview and felt like nothing really good was coming up on the show so I can't see how they think viewers would be excited about boring storylines with boring characters. In the article, they discuss so many depressing storylines that has happened in the last year and more the come. I feel sorry for the show if they think that boring depressing storylines is what the viewers want to see.

Ah I knew I remembered the name Dan Bennett for a reason. 2005 was a great year! Things started going downhill some time in 2006, and I don't remember 2007, but there were great characters all through that era, if not always great story lines, so we should get some good character development out of this. Looking forward to it!
