Are the current producers ruining Home and Away?

Now I am a little  scared.

The show is at a crossroads. The era of the Braxtons has come to an end and the writers are faced with the task of moving the show on to the next era.  I am terribly disappointed with the early signs.  I see no sign of the show taking a new and interesting direction or going "back to the future" either.  Hopefully that will come in the next few weeks.

I don't believe that Dan Bennett is any kind of messiah although I have appreciated his writing in the past.  No do I believe that looking back for any other purpose than to understand the history of the show is the way forward either.

The show needs a new and interesting direction consistent with its history.

I agree John and I would say that the only way for the show to move forward is to abandon bad habits in regards to writing and bring in a new Series Producer.

honestly, Ricki apparently works right!? Can't say I remember what she even does as you never see her there LOL!

Doesn't she work at Angelo's?

Yes and as part owner of the Gym and Angelo's she can probably sit back and live off the profits. I think we've just seen her there less due to the pregnancy.

I thought she was a photographer, but she has really only photographed brax.

maybe she could photograph some parties or weddings or formals or surf carnivals, as some formal event seem to be happening every week.

Honestly if the show is to continue then the following needs to start happening:

No introduction of characters just to add plot points to someone's story.

No focus on one set of characters at the expense of others or decent storytelling.

Removal of hastily introduced characters.

No hooking up characters because you can't think what else to do with them.

And how about giving people jobs outside of Summer Bay.  You don't have to show external sets all the time but seriously a town that small supporting just about everyone with a handful of businesses?  Hey, what do you want to do when you leave school? Oh, I've always wanted to work in Alf's bait shop, how about you?  Me, I've my eye on working in the diner for the next forty years.

Yep...... totally agree about the job thing; I have wanted to see more of that too. I remember when we had other places such as when Josh was in council, Ric was in the car garage, Belle had a job as a journalist and you routinely seen them all there, now you don't see any of that - it's either go work at the diner, gym, Angelos, Bait Shop or the hospital lol....... honestly, Ricki apparently works right!? Can't say I remember what she even does as you never see her there LOL!

Since Dan Bennett has taken over can't say I have noticed much change as of yet, but it's early days and I guess he has a big mess to cleanup that has been left in his lap; but the addition of more love triangles isn't a good start.

I totally agree with this. On the subject of the hospital, in recent years they always seem to given the impression it's either in Summer or right on the outskirts. However right from the start it was always Northern Districts Hospital in Yabbie  Creek. They need to keep on track with the continuity of such locations. Katarina works at the police station which I presume is still in Yabbie Creek.

Recently, we saw Hannah and co. watching Phoebe perform a gig at Reefton Lakes. Maybe someone could have a part time job there:). There was often talk of a pub in the early years. It would be good as Angelo's is a bar/restaurant and a pub would be a nice informal place for nights out. Also a convenience store would be good again:)

Ahh that's right lol....... just really haven't seen her there in quite awhile I guess so I forgot.

Not that you'd know, you hardly ever see her in uniform / at work. Most of her storylines revolve around her annoying relationship with Nate.

Yep, The Police Station and Hospital are in Yabbie Creek.

The joke is back in the day had to get the Bus/Drive to Yabbie Creek but now it's like 10 minutes walk!

(Most be the continental shift after the 2008 aftershocks from the 1996 Earthquake)

Yes we've scene the likes of April & Dex and Hannah & Nate etc having their break at the beach or at the diner rather than the hospital canteen...quite a lot :)

And when she is at work/in uniform it would be nice (for the sake of continuity) to see her doing more routine work rather than dealing with 'big' crimes all the time. Also, as much as I like Nate, it's quite often becoming a case of ''Call Nate'' instead of "Call an ambulance".

Ricky did work as a photographer but it was freelance rather than a steady job.Now she's co-owner of the Braxton Empire I guess she doesn't need the work.

The geography of Summer Bay has always been notoriously fluid.Sometimes the hospital is a car drive away, sometimes it's walking distance.Even back in the 90s, you seemed to have teens showing up there as if it was round the corner from school.
